I like how it has an actual bedroom and not a loft. I could see using two side by side shipping containers to make a really good size home.

ok, this is obviously really *really* awesome.....and the dude should totally start producing his pod-tainers so that everyone could by one! for me, i´d make the 'pod' a bit longer so i can put my bed there, and use the rest as a living room

This is great! but I think you should do a video about land ownership! I love seeing these spaces, but a informative video about people and land and how one can get into looking into land pricing process to start building on would be faboulous.

landwatch.com You need to find a place with ZERO building codes. That means rural. Or else you are forced to build a foundation in most areas doubling or tripling the cost. I know that there are very few counties left in the USA that have no building codes, most use the international code which is ultra-strict. Find land in those few counties (I live in rural area of Appanoose Co IOWA and there are no building codes and I have 3 container homes.) I also own land in Colorado. Land within city limits 20 miles away I would be screwed and fined for building my containers but they cant touch us here outside the city limits. Another option I am looking into is Cochise Co, AZ and some counties of New Mexico, some rural areas in the Missouri Ozarks, it is all about verifying the County building codes for container builds. Finding cheap land is incredibly easy. You can finance land from many websites but the main site for land buyers in the US is landwatch.com. If you finance you wont be able to build until its fully paid. Be aware Its best to find a half acre rural and outright buy it than to finance 20 acres and wait. you can always buy more land nearby once you have your first container home build (usually for less than 10k).

Okkar, also it would be good to see something on that spray in insulation foam. I have seen a ton of videos with people saying the stuff is a toxic nightmare in low vent areas. I would be a bit worried about that.

Only once the container tiny house option gets more popular it means those shipping containers prices are going to go up, just like it did with normal tiny houses It's all about demand, everything starts out affordable (and in some cases cheap) until it's popular and in high demand then the price goes up and up 😒

Absolutely love the colors they used. The orange and white is bright and airy. What a great idea if you have the land space for a "guest house". My backyard isn't that big, but would definitely consider something like this for when my parents come to visit as opposed to kicking my youngest out of his room lol. Great job! ☺️

I love all those shipping container tiny houses. But this one is so special and it's pretty impressive, that just little adjustments can make a huge difference. The colour theme, I guess makes it feel so much full of light, and also the orange gives it the little bit you need to feel welcomed. For me orange is the colour of happiness and warmth, and a great contrast to white. Great job! I guess living in it full time would be no problem, if living in a tiny house is your thing. And as always, awesome video!!! Kathi

You could have also built the cupboards and separating wall with red plexiglass. Wall could have been suspended from ceiling via metal chains, resting on floor. Red plexiglass is opaque enough to create intimacy but still allows light to shine through. Just an idea. You did a FABULOUS job. I absolutely love what you did. The only thing I'd have changed would have been as afore-mentioned, with red plexiglass.

Wow, I can live in that house. But maybe tweak it a bit to make the dining area more simple like a wall-attached table that can be folded if not used so it won't block the entry way to the house. And maybe place the bed on the side of the divider to make it more private and have the place more walkway. And maybe double the rack above the bed for more space for clothes or things. I have no complaints with the toilet. That one is so condo-like so it's spacious. I love the toilet!

I didn't see a closet so I would probably put a freestanding one in the dining area and place a table in front of the lounge nook. You put a great show here. It's startling how many tiny house builders you find in such a tiny country. New Zealand seems like quite a hotspot for this. As an American viewer, there's simply nobody releasing content of your quality, showcasing American builds. Deek is great, but he doesn't seem to get out to the people, but the jamborees.
@dandygirl6
@dandygirl6 7 жыл бұрын
Americans are obsessed with making money, you will find the exact opposite is true of Kiwis. A lot of these projects are totally independent, no tiny house company plans, etc. And the strict, impossible coding that exists in the US is extremely different this side of the hemisphere. Our codes exist to protect the structural integrity of buildings against natural disasters and climate which are frequent and more important than zoning. I think New Zealanders have a very different approach to building and lifestyle, much more - how do I put it - realistic and chill.
@TwistTimHansel
@TwistTimHansel 7 жыл бұрын
There is only one U.S. City that I would say has the New Zealand Approach to life; and that is Austin, Texas. It has no Zoning Committees, and does require only that buildings be built in such a way as to withstand Hurricanes... I have thought often of moving there if I could. But I agree, our country is very object/money centric. Whereas I see a lot of Kiwis are focused on joy, happiness, life experiences. I guess having lived through things like the Big Quakes in Christchurch and Hurricanes and such have taught your nation how to place value on things that really matter. Not that there aren't Americans who haven't found these secrets, but they aren't as commonly acknowledged.... Even with most of my state still recovering from a Hurricane, it's business as usual in the lesser hit areas.

I would definitely live in this, put in a mini fridge, a NuWave Oven which sits on the countertop.

This podtainer is adorable. But one of the best parts of these videos has to be the various accents and how people say things like "bed" or "deck". LOL

Well done! But I was expecting to see shelves on the back side of the divider wall. A 6-inch wall would provide a huge amount of shelf storage cubbies!

This is very well done. With a few tiny tweaks for storage this could be lived in full time.

petnzme01 as an Australian I can tell you he doesn't sound Australian :P He speaks a bit slower and has what I suppose you might call a drawl if it were American, but that's definitely a variety of Kiwi he's speaking.

This is super cool and very well done. The interior design and smart building touches like the rounded wall corner are both beautiful and brilliant. It is modern, inviting and somewhat playful. Everything seems to work, everything has its place, everything is impeccably well thought out. I would be able to live in a space like that very happily.

Brilliantly simple and fairly roomy altho for me I'd like another container the same size at one end for further space for arts and crafts and a slightly bigger bathroom

Definitely no lack of spice in this container home :) In all fairness though, it is very thoughtful and generous of him to build this thinking about accommodating relatives.
