Obrigado! Legendas em português impecáveis. Thank you! Portuguese subtitles worked perfectly 👌 ありがとう
It reminds me the karate that Shinzato Sensei taught here in Santos, Brazil, back in the days. I recognize not only the weapons, including the Eku (oar), but the katas too. I prefer this Okinawan style better than the mainland one. They generate more power from the body, the moves are more free, they're not obsessed with the perfection of the posture, and strongly rely on the strength of their hips to make their moves more destructive. It not only looks, but is more natural. Impossible not to feel the nostalgia after seeing this. I'm even willing to return to the old master's dojo and start training again. Much appreciated.

@@taoist32 if you deny the body of reward foods and as you say train and train hard, its all achievable, breathing and stretching and pumping that blood through a conditioned body and as i said stay away from reward foods,it is within your grasp,i'm 70 and trained in kempo for over 50 years, doctors are amazed at my vitals,i'm not, sweat and hard work forges the body, train like your life depends on it,it does

@@strattuner Nice and congrats! At 70 you should be proud of everything you do. I remember meeting Ernie Reyes Sr. at the gym a while ago. Amazing strength and conditioning also at the age of 70. At the age of 47 I admit to having slowed down a bit due to lack of motivation. I still train a few times a week, but having mentors and role models helps motivate me to keep going. Thank you!

Yup. I hope I can still walk at 80, if I'm still alive. A body in motion tends to stay in motion. I see teenagers that can't move that well.

Wish I had the opportunity to come to your dojo. Absolutely amazing.
Performing kobudo kata is one thing, but to apply the moves against resistance, especially to another or the same weapon, is completely another skill set! Amazing!
I spent a year in Okinawa, 88-89. I wish I had investigated the local martial arts scene while I was there.

I was stationed in Okinawa from 1953 to 1955 and I took Judo and Karate lessons from the following great Martial Arts teachers. Mr. Yamakawa - Chief of Police in Naha, Mr. Ohama - Assistant Chief of Police - Mr. Miyazato - Karate trainer of the police department - Mr. Tomasito - a giant of a man - the Judo trainer for the Naha Police department. Has anyone ever heard of these tremendous Martial Arts teachers? I have photographs of them and with them. They were the top Martial Arts persons in the island then. I am 93 years old now, I was 22 years old then when they started me in the arts. This 80 years of Master, I never heard of him while I lived there. He must have been about 9 or 10 years old then. Just some info on Martial Arts in Okinawa. I enjoyed my tour of duty in Kadena AFB during those years and also the knowledge of Martial Arts I learned from those wonderful men, my teachers, my friends. God bless them.

Foi muito triste esse período de preconceito contra os indígenas de okinawa. A situação só piorou quando houve a batalha em okinawa em 1945... Mas felizmente o povo de okinawa conseguiu se reeguer!

I came here the joke "Oar yeah!" when the thumbnail showed the art was so Okinawan that it used an actual fisher's item. But that video was excellent. Well trained practitioners, with ancient yet practical techniques, enjoying mastering their skills. Brilliant.

You should really focus on modern techniques more than ancient ones that are out dated, the weapon training is cool in movies, but mixed martial arts is way more effective than any one or multiple disciplines at a time.
