Amazing Birds of Thailand | Next in the series of birding videos shot at Dab-Tuun's Hide just outside Kaeng Krachan National Park in Thailand, we meet with The Red Junglefowl ( Gallus gallus ). Today we visited one of the many bird and wildlife photography waterholes / hides just outside Kaeng Krachan National Park. @@Birding-with-Brian Nice to meet you too. I had not visited KKCh NP for 8 years because I couldn't take time off. I was so busy making a living, spending time with my now 99 year-young grandma, aging parents, family, taking interests in Ancient Khmer and Ayudhya Empires, Khmer and Lao languages, Chinese and Western Civilizations, and Muay Thai. Shocking bucket list, isn't it? Then the Pandemic struck. As well, I don't like twitching in the park where I will be squeezed among the 20-30 big lenses and seeing altercations among 20-30 twitchers over a couple of viewing spots. I'd rather observing anything that comes across around my home yard or while on travels. This latest trip that I first met you at Samaan is a spark that I need get back to KKCh more frequently before long.

Chickens or junglefowl are gamebirds of the Gallus genus, there are four species of chicken, the Fork-Tailed Chicken or Green Junglefowl (Gallus varius), the Bankiva Chicken or Red Junglefowl (Gallus gallus), the Sonnerat's Chicken or Grey Junglefowl (Gallus sonneratii), and the Lafayette's Chicken or Ceylon Junglefowl (Gallus lafayettii), chickens belong to the family Gallidae, which also includes the bamboo partridges, francolins, spurfowl, peafowl, arguses, peacock pheasants, crimson-headed partridge, indochinese forest partridges, snowcocks, dwarf quails, malagasy partridge, and desert partridges, the Gallidae family contains eighty extant species within twenty-five genera making Gallidae the largest and most diverse family of living gamebirds and all extant species are mostly native to Africa and Asia, gallids are divided into two subfamilies, Gallinae which contains the chickens, bamboo partridges, francolins, and spurfowl and Pavoninae which contains the peafowl, arguses, peacock pheasants, crimson-headed partridge, indochinese forest partridges, snowcocks, dwarf quails, malagasy partridge, and desert partridges.
