Great, very avid artist. Suggestion: if you make 2 gigs, one small and one big you can go faster, even and you can make a lay out before you start you masterpiece of art. you can make some fancy designs.

What is the correct Cement : Sand ratio? I tried using 1 cement to 2 Sand ratio, but it cracked when it dried up... or did I put too much water?

The ratio of 1 cement to 2 sand is right. That's why you let the eye surface dry too quickly, causing the surface to dry quickly.
