I take issue with only one point. Other than that, amazing video as usual. I did a lot of research for a WWI trench warfare script I wrote. As the zig zags in the trenches did provide protection from someone firing down the trench, my research indicated that it was primarily designed into them to lessen the blast trauma, if a shell landed in a section of trench. The sharp corners would each absorb some of the shockwave, lessening the injuries from concussion and shrapnel. Keep up the great work.

And it helped protect against poison gas, as the sudden shift in direction lowered the velocity of the gas

well thats a pretty similar use: protection from projectiles and trauma you dont want for your soldiers

@@NonsensicalSpudz Exactly true about the method of teaching. So many people who are teachers really shouldn’t be. They either have the teaching job because it’s a paycheck, or wanting to push an agenda, some because they really do love being a teacher. But just because they love to be a teacher doesn’t mean they’re any good at teaching people. The 3 most important things to teaching is to love it, to know the material, and the hardest skill of all is being able to reach their students. By reaching them I mean being able to make the students as excited about learning as you are at teaching them. I’m 50 and remember the best history teacher I ever had. He had fought in ww2, Korea, and Vietnam by the time he became our history teacher in 1980. He was able to make history class interesting, and exciting to us. Especially because he was able to teach us about so much of our country’s actual history. He seen the last 3 wars we fought in at that time first hand. He was also able to tell us about the civil rights movement because he seen it. An even though he wast in WW1 or the Spanish American War, because he learned about it from his father who fought for America in those wars. It’s one of the reasons I’ve tried to listen and learn from my elders. Because their eyes have literally seen history being made

That one remaining Lancaster flew over my house today at low altitude on route to the commemorating D-day air show at Duxford air field! We’re normally lucky enough to catch it flying over once or twice a year for events. The noise it makes is incredible! Can’t believe this video is in my recommended on the same day

I saw a smithsonian exhibit on the underground almost-cities built during the war, and considering the photos, likely inspired Moria. How did the Allied versions vary from the German trenches? It seems from the description here that the german ones were quite deep, but from photos, the Allied ones would be too. So what's the difference?

WW1 tanks were clunky and bulky and broke down or got stuck constantly. But why rag on about lack of toilets in a tank? Its not like modern tanks have toilets and showers and whatnot.

I am surprised that with such an awesome bomber ,the British didn't do the daylight bombings . I don't even see why they Brits needed the Americans with their puny weak B-17's and Pathetic B-24's at all ? I'm sure the Russians could've supplied England with everything it needed.
