I have a personal connection to that house. It was not actually built in '99. It was started a few years before that. I actually worked on the house a little myself. The property and house have some interesting stories and "secrets". I sent the video link to a woman who bought the property with her partner and started the house. The casita was actually designed as music room for her and had a piano while I was there. The creek bath was actually THE bath for quite a while. Hope fully she will chime in with some info! Cheers Y'all. If she declines to comment I will too, otherwise I can share more info. In the end I am very happy to see the purchaser of the property retained a lot of the original structures and finished the property wonderfully.

Wow, Kirk, thank you for the additional context! I've heard about a couple of the "secrets" But like you, they are not my secrets to tell. 😇 I really hope hope your friend decides to tell a couple of stories here! Thanks again!!! 🍻-Chris

While I myself am intrigued and curious, I hope these stories and 'secrets' are shared only with the buyers of this property, and not the public at large. With a property such as this, privacy and safety are essential.

As a disabled person, I just see it as impractical for me personally. (Not to mention my fear of snakes, scorpions, & flash floods!) But for the right family, it would be an awesome abode. A dream house for a creative minded, introverted, ADD/ADHD individual. Imagine all of the energy one would burn off just living day to day life. Your brain could be engaged 24/7. Between just existing in the multi-level home to the piddling required to maintain the acreage, a person would never be bored!

It's so funny how many comments I've received from able bodied people talking about how inaccessible it was and that it's a terrible design and then, I get your comment....Thank you so much! It's definitely not the home for everyone, but it's definitely the perfect house for a person like you described. Thank you so much for watching and for having the perfect point of view on this property, and, if you are ever looking for a house in this area, please reach out, I can tell you and I would work very well together!! 🍻-Chris

Some folks just can’t see the potential if it’s not their potential, unfortunately. I just subscribed to your channel - we are in the ATX metro area, already have our forever home, but I enjoy keeping up with the real estate market nearby, as it directly affects my hubby’s job (residential architectural draftsman). Looking forward to more unique content - always fun to see inside creative minds!

You are so right! This house is definitely a dream house for creative types who appear to be somewhat of an introvert. I'm a bit of an introvert who enjoys spending time with a few people, avoids large groups and crowds... I also enjoy spending time alone to pursue artistic activities that bring peace and enjoyment to living my life. I was mentally moving in and imagining how to utilize and enjoy each and every area. The art room for me, and the workshop for my husband 💕

Now they do scorpions and I’m petrified of snakes but if you are careful and watching where you’re going they won’t attack you unless you attack them. I’m 62 disabled female myself and I now live in the city in South Texas and we have snakes in the city not just in the country. So no matter where you are you can’t hide from them because they roam around everywhere. Like I said they aren’t going to attack you if you don’t attack them or if they don’t feel threatened by you. I would take my life there in a heartbeat even being disabled because having lived there before I know what all that has to offer!!

I'm right up the road in Lakeway and I approve of this property. Wow, I would love to live there! I'm in 3300 sq ft, with high ceilings, tall floor to ceiling windows everywhere, a huge multi-level (trex) private deck that wraps around from the kitchen to the master, all facing a pond and a serene golf course. Yet, when I hear "5 acres" and see those views, the dynamics of all that's going on there, and that space?! I'd be there asap if I could!

I love unique homes, we have even owned an octagon house on the side of a hill in N C ,however the two bathrooms are just too far from the bedrooms, and the laundry room is in such an awkward place. That cold plunge pool would just be a mosquito farm when the stream wasn’t running. Which is most of the time in central Texas. Any standing water breeds mosquitos in hot climate of Texas. Beautiful home and property. It would be great for multigenerational living. My family has 3 generations living together, all adults. It’s so hard to find good designs for that type of family unit.

Fair point on the mosquitos, but those granules and dunks make quick work of the larvae. Interesting on the multigenerational homes. I was having a conversation 2 weeks ago on that exact issue and how we think it will become more common moving forward. @@livinginaustintx I agree with you that demand for multigenerational properties will likely continue to increase. One new trend that I really like is all of the bedroom closets include a compact washer and dryer… The only other place I would consider putting one would be the master bathroom with the possible addition of an ironing area. This places washers and dryers in the areas were dirty laundry is going to accumulate, also very close to where linens are going to be replaced on the beds, towels are stocked in bathrooms, and clothes can go straight from the dryer to be folded and put away or hung up. Multi use closets like that really should have air conditioning registers, maybe a ceiling fan, and probably dedicated air returns as well. Many contractors don’t even bother to put air handing features in closets - just because they never did. As closets got bigger, and began serving as auxiliary laundry areas, they found themselves spending considerably more time in the “closet“ than they used to, and climate control became an issue. Especially large closets even include some kind of dressing seat or bench. Some even include a small TV, Extension speakers from the stereo, and an access point to a household intercom system.

@@livinginaustintxHow long have you been you been in this area? There have been some pretty epic and disastrous flash floods over the last 25 years (at least). Do you like flood waters rushing through your home? Because I'm pretty sure that building on the side of a hill, near the bottom of a creek, is a sure fire way to have that happen. Especially in this terrain type. It gets dry, then the rains come and just wash over that dry surface. Have fun rebuilding that cedar walkway everytime the water washes over.

It's always interesting to me what people see in these videos. Thanks for your thoughts! I can say, this is not a FEMA flood plain and, the house has been there for roughly 30 years without issue. Good video presentation. However, that house is a quirky design located on a non-picturesque tract with a dry creek bed running through it. No big deal. Also, the construction and finish out is not that great. The only real stand out feature of the house is it’s casement windows throughout. Lastly, putting the laundry room (effectively) on the third level with access being across a vertigo “catwalk” is not something that will inspire many prospective buyers - especially those with rambunctious small children. Getting those appliances (W/D) up into that laundry room must be a nightmare - presumably they come with the house !!! Lastly, the steel pillars that the house is built upon are only truly sturdy if they were taken down to bedrock (which they may not have been because it’s very expensive). Just my thoughts….
@livinginaustintx
@livinginaustintx 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the thoughts! Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder and you bring up a couple of valid points. But, I will point out, here in the TX hill country, bedrock is plentiful and not very deep, so that one concern should be very minor 🤣 Thanks again 🍻 -Chris

Interesting….The house is interesting. I didn’t see much room for actual furniture. Each little area was almost like a nice motel space. Dining room was disappointing; the “main” bedroom was REALLY disappointing. The decks were the nicest part of the house. The view was pretty, but I know the climate. Cool property. I almost bought something similar to this in leander. This property needs the right owner. I personally see it as a nightmare, like the almost completely custom house made by a woodworker in leander. If anything needed to be replace there nothing was standard. The house is on a hill multiple levels. So my aging parents and in-laws would not be able to use or visit the property. And would be completely unusable to me after my knee injury for at least a while. It was built solid but i saw no floor insulation under the build. So in the last few winters the floors must be ice cold as i can’t imagine it has In floor heating throughout. And then how much maintenance for the water system? I do like that it off the ground and built solid, but see a lot of issue. I live on a great property now but in a custom nightmare. I have already spent lots on remodeling and removing custom designed and outdated tech in the house you can’t find parts for. I am all for unique spaces but make them accessible.

Thanks for watching! I definitely understand your sentiments on things that are super-custom! A couple of notes on your comments, first on the floor. With a wood subfloor and the cork, the floors don't get chilly in the winter. It's actually a really great design for that. And, on the rainwater, I've had whole house rainwater for 7 years and it's a little more maintenance than a well, but not much. Changing filters and UV bulbs mainly. But the difference in the water quality is completely night and day! 🍻-Chris

I watch an absolute ton of real estate tour videos and i think they work better when you shoot them in the order you'd do a showing (through the front door first, then everything else like grounds, exterior buildings, etc). I mean, in a fairy tale, there's not need for cleaning and storage. That's what all the birds and woodland creatures are for!! 🤣 Thanks for watching 🍻-Chris

Thank you, Mrs Wright, your son's honor is now safe🤣🤣🤣🤣 In as much as it's hanging out over the water, though, is very reminiscent of FLW waterfall house. At least to me, but thanks for watching! 🍻-Chris

Interesting, you're the second person who's mentioned the colors. Are you talking outside or in? And, with "earth colors," is the idea to have it blend more with it's surroundings so it would kind of dissapear? 🍻-Chris
