Real men at work. Something we don't know about
@cmleoj4 ай бұрын
Thank goodness we don’t have to work like that! There’s a reason technology has developed to do this work. Of course any ‘real man’ is free to do work like this the old fashioned way. It’s just that no one, and I mean no one, will do it that way, when there’s any alternative.

Pine Valley, a small community in the East County of San Diego County, installed a new well that was dug by hand in about 1965 by a man and his son from Mexico.

Regarding the hand drilled well with the pvc pipe, early on you state the hole is 45 ft deep, then later on while they were inserting the pvc, you stated the well hole was 20' deep. Why the disparity?

The bucket is often made out of metal, or other ... materials. No kidding?

10:00 That tiny string to haul up 5 kg of water will break within a week, I hope they had something better or else they will be fishing that bucket out from the bore hole very soon.

Why they are not using stright iron crowbars?
@chrisstaylor83775 ай бұрын
They use steel form to line the well with concrete

People didn’t even have the decency to provide a hand pump for the well. Also gauranteed every community with the bucket well will return to the river. I have seen that several villages had wells forced into them when their culture and tribal leaders required them to get their water from the river

That is NOT fast digging!! These people busted their backs and their butts and their entire bodies working hard. It would be great if they had big machinery to assist with their digging efforts, to make much lighter of the heavy work.

Stop talking like an engineer , your comments regarding the tank build have no bearing on what’s happening
@donalfinn42055 ай бұрын
I thought that the walls of the tank were not strong enough?
@davel47084 ай бұрын
Looks to me like the steel wires they wrapped around the outside of the wall would do the job well.

But but but, wont Bill Gates be annoyed cos they wont use his taps
@cmleoj5 ай бұрын
I wonder where you drank the koolaid that makes you think Bill Gates isn’t doing good in Africa. Something tells me he does more to help others in a minute than you’ve done your whole life. Isn’t that right? Who told you to think like that?
@TheBagOfHolding4 ай бұрын
They probably need his help where the water is deeper.
@timhull86644 ай бұрын
@TheBagOfHolding I lived in Africa in the 70s, water came out of a tap in my house.. even in the townships there is water infrastructure..
@TheBagOfHolding4 ай бұрын
@@timhull8664 Africa is big and there are remote areas where people walk to get water. There are places in America that had good water in the 70s and don't now. South Africa had reliable electricity then and don't now.
@timhull86644 ай бұрын
@TheBagOfHolding population increases.. and the tin pot dictators send all the money to Switzerland, and by the way, water still emerges from taps in ppls houses, and although Africa is huge, the amount of money sent their way, would have covered the entire continent in taps.. plus more meds, infrastructure, hospitals, doctors (before we thieve them). Gates is a pest with an agenda, and it's not a good one.

Good pictures, but the talking is so much a repetitive and uninteresting crap, and the voice is so monotone and standardized that it really looks like some IA generated bullsh*t.

Before you dig the well, how do you know there's water down there?
@inyobill5 ай бұрын
Locals are familiar with how deep water is in their area.

You dig until you hit it. The deepest hand dug well is in England and it’s over 1,200 feet/ 300m
