Zetta, thanks so much for covering Schwarzerblitz! Your analysis was just incredibly on point and I am glad you liked the roster and the trigger system! Just one small edit: the paid DLC contains 8 costumes and a set of short stories in a digital book, not really in-game story content - more like a separate book that picks up from the epilogue. As a side note, Cyphr and the Evilobster might be my favourite characters I ever created for a fighting game😂

ah, my apologies, I probably should have elaborated a bit more on the DLC contents. I'm also a massive fan of evilobster, the design is SO funny, and having another tool to sink trigger into is a smart way to incentivise it's use on a grappler.

@@Zetta330 aside from his super grabs, Absolute Lobster giving hyper armor to a grappler is absolutely terrifying. The idea behind it was that old trope of people shooting monsters in old movies and screaming stuff "OH NO, BULLETS DON'T HARM HIM!" - which is why projectile damage is also halved when he is in this state. It's both a high risk high reward comeback mechanic (usually if you get grabbed the timer runs out super fast) and totally accurate to the character :')

Thanks for the mention of VF @Zetta, yeah the steam version is way outdated compared to the mobile one.. Hope we can update the steam version soon and hopefully add more characters in the demo, sad it didn't made to the Indie Fighting Games Fest. The game will be free to play once released. :)

Really love the various art styles on display here. Some have something approaching old Virtua Fighter while others are more Jet Set Radio. The last one was really intriguing with how iconic the characters looked while only being simple blocks. They also animated really well with smooth and snappy moves. Gonna have to keep my eye on these!

head2head is such a weird but cool game, nearly every attack in the game can be canceled into any other attack, a dash or a jump, most characters have otgs, and skull activation can be used to otg and restart your opponent's burst countdown, so the sky's the limit with the combo system, my personal patented combo are the earrape loops with wreckingball, where you combo with only the spin moves with the obnoxiously loud engine sounds. It's been quite a while since I last played it, but you definitely could block back then and I'd be surprised if the changed that. Also sort of unrelated but the game's soundtrack goes insanely hard, it's by the same guy who did the handful of original songs in sonic smackdown so it was obviously gonna be good

I got Hyperfight today. (I tried to download it when this video released but I couldn't find it on steam for whatever reason.) Me and my brother both love it, thank you for covering these games I would otherwise not know about!

Why is there so much intersection between the rosters of duels of fortune and schwarzerblitz

The devs are friends essentially, as are a ton of indie devs, it's why they're always helping each other and cameoing and allowing guest characters and costumes. It's like how Mystery Johnson from Schwarzerblitz is in Duels of Fortune and in the background for TMNTxJL, or how Callowman from Duels of Fortune is in ExploJudo which is another game Andrea made, or how there's an EvilLobster costume in Merfight and Duels of Fortune.

Essentially, what GamersGoin'Blind said: the developers of Duels of Fortune and I had a crossover event: Schwarzerblitz got Rattlebone as a playable character, one stage, and three DoF costumes, Duels of Fortune got Johnson as a playable character, one stage, and some additional costumes. Schwarzerblitz collaborated with other indie games too, as it has costumes from FOOTSIES, Beatdown Dungeon, HYPERFIGHT, MerFight, Arcus Chroma, Ultra Fight Da! Kyanta 2 and Bearsus. Then you have MerFight with the Evilobster costume from Schwarzerblitz, or again Duels of Fortune with a HYPER FIGHT costume too. Or TMNTxJL featuring Julia Verne from Shattered in the background of the arena stage. Our scene is so niche that most developers know and support one another :)

how do i get into making games, im a creative artist and a former indy prowrestling and I have all these ideas in my head but I cant program or math lol
