kinetic motion energy transfers to elastic potential energy and then back to kinetic energy in a cycling process as a slinky spring "walks" down an incline.

👉🏻 Octagon Infinity Lamp: parallel partially mirrored panes with multi colored LEDs create the illusion of depth through the physics of reflection and refraction.
👉🏻 Noon Cannon: a working replica of a historical novelty- a meridian cannon where, upon 12 o’clock noon, the sun’s rays are concentrated through a precisely placed lens igniting a fuse which then discharges a miniature cannon. According to Wikipedia, in the 18th century meridian cannons could be found in European parks where they were fired off daily to indicate noontime to the surrounding townships.

👉🏻 Devil Level: a vintage alternative to the traditional spirit/bubble level, the indicator pointer is weighted at the bottom pivot and the top is filled with air. Archimedes principle describes the buoyant force which keeps the indicator pointing straight up kind of like an inverse plumb bob. An interesting design that allows a reading of inclination and I wonder why it did not catch on as this item is about 60 years old.

0:26 Walk like an Egyptian. 4:32 Are there magnetic balls in there? It seems to fall in an odd way. 5:42 I remember playing with such a toy. It was owned by one of my uncles I think. I remember I hurt my finger touching the chick despite being told not to. The eggshell was very sharp, and I thought it vanished for real when it spun. 7:52 They look to be parallel and not sloped to me. There should be something odd I guess. So I say the black and white squares are not black and white squares, but white and black squares.

Yes! The horizontal blue lines appear to be sloped but they are actually parallel, if the boundaries are blurred the illusion is broken and the lines appear parallel. Note that even after we verify the lines are parallel, our perception still misleads- a reminder that we need science to transcend the limits of our senses and cognition.
