George Syrett was the Guest Artist at Leyland Accordion Club in May 2011. The Tune is Amazing Grace played in 2 different styles, the UK style and the US style, with a bit of humour thrown in the middle.

Rest in peace George . Sadly I didn't get the pleasure of seeing you play at Leyland Accordion club as you were before I joined. Your version of Amazing Grace was truly beautiful my friend and I will remember you with it now you have Gone xxx play up in the Heavens my friend xx

Its nice that this was played at his funeral this week. This is how I remember George, entertaining rather than just playing. The accordion world lost a great personality.

The bellows sign is for people who play from sheet music, George is playing from the heart and entertaining people. People who worry about bellows signs are not usually as entertaining as George is.

Einem so braven Greisen schwach zu geben, waere schaendlich, deshalb lieber Applaus schenken, seinem zaehen Mut und Gier auf Ehre. George spielt wirklich von ganzem Herzen. Hoch lebe, alter Musikant!!!

Strange! I was born in America and have lived here all my life and in fact have never been to another country, and I've NEVER heard Amazing Grace played in the style that he says we do.

Allerdings ohne Verstärker ;o) Also George - bleib am Ball. Da schaffst es schon! Gretings from North. Germany!

I don't hear any wrong notes, but beautiful playing. I don't consider it humor in the middle, but irreverence.
@tandemwings47336 жыл бұрын
Pretty good, not too shabby, but, why oh why do you break notes with the bellows. Sends shivers up my spine - sort of creepy. Is this a 'normal' style of playing (for effect), or just poor technique?
@jolee54026 жыл бұрын
Yes, bellows breaking notes in wrong places is hard listen to. Like listening to singer taking breaths in middle of long notes.

God Bless him for having fun. But good grief. I can forgive the wrong notes, but his wet tuning is excruciating to listen to. Plus, that isn't the way we play it in Memphis.
@martin59119 жыл бұрын
lets hear you play it then
@tommyvolinchak55189 жыл бұрын
Ahhhhh, I'll pass. Not exactly a bucket list item, ya know? The recording is distorted, and the tuning is so harsh it peeled paint off of my woodwork.

Some of the worst bellows technique ever, a couple wrong notes here and there, and more than a few cracks hit. BUT!!! at least he's got the nerve to get up and entertain folks... Bravo George!!
