Love how fast the MD-80 is on its take-off roll, and the steep incline when it climbs. One of my favorite planes.

They done their job from the first second to the end of this video, allways busy, even they received the traffic alarm, they search it like cats on a mouse ! Well done guys, and thanks to you haitiano 1982.

This a great video, as a young black man myself aspiring to become a airline pilot myself this is absolutely motivating and inspires me that all things are possible and with a little hard work I can be in the flight deck as well!!!

Xavier Bennett I wish you all the best in your aviation career. It will take a lot of dedication and study but you can do it. I'd love to get the opportunity to fly with you before I retire! Good luck and fly safe Xavier!

Great video, great pilots, I've been passenger on a MD a couple of times, very impressed with this aircraft.

Then you have extremely low expectations and standards. The MD is a small piece of shit which is well past its prime.

I thought they worked well together; were very thorough; liked the "double check" just before power was applied for TO - "flaps, 11, slats...etc." No harm in always taking a second and third look at switch settings, gauges, et al. Seemed like a very professional crew.

Thanks for posting this video. I flew a C-182 to Haiti back in 1973, when the rental agency would let someone take one to Haiti (can you imagine that happening today?!), along with 160# of donated medical/hospital material. We landed at Limbe' sans any radio communication from their tower, later going to Port-a-Prince for fuel, where the tower was operating. Dr. Hodges, the medical missionary in Limbe' with whom I worked for a month, was a hero to me, but the culture of Haiti was totally corrupt

Flight controls on the MD-80 are all manual except for the Rudder. All they have are control tabs. In other words his control inputs for this aircraft are pretty normal.

The FAA allows pilots to bring their ipads onboard to raplace paper charts, even some airlines give them to their pilots instead of regular paper charts, and theres no interference, and, not even with the External GPS should give you any interference, due to the small amount of electromagnetic wave they emit.

@haitiano198211 жыл бұрын
what part of it looks dangerous ? did you know airliners are allowed to fly with their autopilot? that curve is a turn that is conducted daily by thousands of pilots. there was absolutely nothing particular about it. thanks for the comment though, highly appreciated ! when you get a chance, like my FB page for more footage and pictures
@TheTopgunferrari12 жыл бұрын
I think you are wrong with posting such a comment. I dont necessarily think that all black men cant be pilots just because you think that they dont have the critical thinking skills that you think are necessary to command an aircraft. Sometimes that may be true but these guys did a good job! Give credit where credit is due and dont make assumptions based on a persons race!

Why 737-200 ? I thought they were only used at very poor countries these days. But i have a question about the captain sim, when you pull up totally, does the yoke go back a lot ? this is like a big problem on Wilco 737Classics, when you pull down totally, and pull up totally, the difference is about 1-2 meters difference. is this also the case in Captain sim ? And how does the airplane handle ? Handle nicely ?

@ROCKSTARCRANE12 жыл бұрын
This is the second cockpit vid that I've seen where it appears that the control input by the pilot is excessive. Is this normal for a large aircraft? I used to fly Cessnas and control inputs of that magnitude would have you all over the sky.....
@HEDGE10116 жыл бұрын
ROCKSTARCRANE It's normal for the DC-9 and MD-80 family which has unpowered ailerons and elevator (except for elevator power for stall recovery). It's clearly NOT moving them all over the sky, just take a look outside. It certainly seems like they know their jobs and their aircraft quite well.

one should never, but never, ever, use any kind of electronic device with an antenna onboard an airplane. luckily enough i found this one that doesn't have an antenna and it's not electronic. it's not even a camera. it's just a brick. anyways, i can add that i've never used it. i wasn't even there.... that's all my say!

nice video i enjoyed it very much , i'm at the end of my PPL ( 59h ) and looking forward to proceed the CPL+ATPL and this video motviated even more :) i have a question : before taxi they usually ask to put away all devices but you use a camera during the whole procedures stated above , is it a danger or not for the navigation system ? to my opinion i think not because my instructor used his ipad 2 GPS flight app nav during my flight ... what's your say on this ?
