Finally got around to putting the time in with this. I've been able to play Hey Joe for a while, but some of the chord embellishments have always been beyond me. The pull offs and hammer ons that Jimi did are mind blowing and something I just can't seem to get to sound musical. This is such a great way of doing it, sliding down adds just that little bit of spice I needed. And those triad shapes are invaluable. Really brings some beautiful variation to the melody. Yes, he certainly did Nigel! I use these movements in my playing all the time. I will definitely expand on these ideas but you can use these movements. Anytime you play a major chord. For a minor chord it’s a little different. Try it over any major sounding backing track. Happy jamming and talk to you soon👍

When did Jimi Hendrix played the chords in this piece he used major sounding rhythm accents. But on the E chord turnaround he played mostly E minor pentatonic. There’s a lot of variables in the theory of this one. but Jimi Hendrix did not look at the guitar in intervals and modes. He played chords that sounded good together, and use mostly pentatonic-based solos. It’s a fun way to play. Thanks for checking out the video. Catch you later.👍

I confess that I closed my eyes in several times, and it was such I was listening Hendrix playing. Awesome the perfection in the way you played Hey Joe. If I have a Strato I own to Hendrix influence. When he died I was 13 old and a I felt a lot his loss. You are really a blessed guy Rusty.
