I haven't even picked up my guitar yet (6:15 a.m. in Maine), but I can see how incredibly helpful this is going to be Rusty. Thank so much for your dedication toward helping fellow guitarists learn and improve. These are awesome tips, even for those of us who don't know the scales inside and out, as you apparently do. I'm a copy-cat player and occasionally I manage to go through a pattern correctly. If I can nail these combinations down, I'll be a much better (sounding) guitarist. Thank God I have the drums to fall back on, cause I'm determined to be a musician in one way or another. It's my beloved addiction. Thanks again Rusty!

Around 7 minutes in you talk about playing the chords across the neck using certain shapes. Do you have any diagrams or advice to easily find them so I can practice ? It’s kind of hard to tell from the video. Great stuff and thank you

One important point not mentioned, probably because it's likely a beginner topic: Listen closely to Rusty's playing. Every individual note has feeling, character, depth. I bet he could play a one note "solo" that would sound great. I'm still working on that. But Rusty gives me goals to aspire to. Great stuff, even if still above my skill level.

Rusty, my friend I really appreciate that you put the distortion pedal in there too and explain positions on your guitar etc. etc. because you are able to get very distinct sounds . When I played electric rhythm, I was more of a minimalist. I didn’t really use but two things of Wawa pedal on some fuzz. I most played acoustic guitar, amplified more Eagles, James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt, stuff like that. Now I’m chasing tone sounds or one person said happy hunting for tones . ❤

Hey Bill, there are really no rules. But the major box does sound great over the A7 and B7 chords. I use the simple four note technique myself, but I target the notes in each chord as they go by in the 12 bar progression. I hope you have fun with it! Thanks.👍
