A Youth Pastor (Sean Astin) and his wife (Erin Bethea) take 5 teens on a weekend camping trip. A conflict results between two of them and creates tension in the camp. To try and resolve this, the Youth Pastor tells the teens the story of the Old Testament prophet, Hosea. At first the teens don't want to hear it, but as he proceeds with the story, they become more interested. The story flashes back to Israel and shows Hosea's great commitment to God and unconditional love for his wife. This movie offers real inspiration through the character of Hosea and also has a touching gospel presentation showing the great love of Christ.

My husbands last name is Hosea . He was the most non judgmental kind loving humble , man . He taught me about God and the Bible . He was a true believer in Jesus Christ our lord. He had many struggles in life ,, but never gave up on his love for God . He was an army veteran. He loved our country. He sacrificed for us all. The lord took him home just a few months ago. He was in his early 50’s . This has devastated me . I’ve been praying for comfort to Jesus . Without knowing that my husband is now with our lord , feeling no more pain for eternity, I would not have any hope . One day I will be with Jesus and my husband. As I am a born again believer. I can rejoice my husband is saved . All Glory to God ! Alleluia! Amen 🙏🏻 I loved this movie. It comforted me . Thank you 🙏🏻💜✝️🕊 God bless you all

What a great depiction of God's heart for His people. One time while I was driving truck in Pennsylvania almost 20 years ago I had an encounter with God's presence for 26 miles as I drove down the interstate. It was without a doubt the most significant event since my birth. I was in such awe that I could not even speak but the peace and endless love of His presence was far beyond anything I had ever experienced. I kept asking the Lord in my mind where the end of this love and peace is. In my spirit He kept telling me that there is no end. After that experience I can honestly say I know exactly what the verse means that says "Perfect love casts out all fear". Praise God for who He is and all He does for us unconditionally. This film shows the heart of God to us as Hosea loves Gomer with an endless love from God.

But it is so sad when we suddenly face trials in life then we come to God for mercy. 😞 This movie helped me see myself through the eyes of Gomer. I am no Hosea for I am not worthy, and I have not loved anyone unconditionally, not even myself. Lord, I am sorry for neglecting You for all these years, remembering You only when in need of help. Forgive my harlotry and ignorance. Let Your word in 2 Chronicles 7:14 be made manifest in my life, my family and my country for we have sinned, but on their behalves, I plead forgiveness. And let Your word in Psalms 91: 11&12 be our portion till our hairs turn grey. I pray this prayer like the thief in Luke 23:42... Speak to me like you spoke to him in Luke 23: 43. Thank You, Lord.

This movie convicted my Spirit deeply. I am a lifelong Christian not living right and I know it... I cried throughout this. I am going to share this movie with everyone I know. the story reminds me of my prodigal son...a dog of all dogs, drinking, cursing, blasphemizing, drug addiction, demon worshipper , ...left for dead 3 times but still alive....and I, the father...still love him, still pray for his salvation and healing, even though it's getting worse everyday.... after 10 long long years the tears still flow...waiting..."'...for a live dog is better then a dead lion...because there is hope.." I stumbled on this movie, God knew i needed to see this...see Im the Hosea in this story and my husband is gomer...I pray and continue to ask God to continue to see us thru this...for now i pray over his side of the bed for him while he is at work. Let this open your eyes to a better understanding of the evil nature of the abrahamic god "You should not let a sorceress live." Exodus 22:17 “If a man lies with a male as with a women, both of them shall be put to death for their abominable deed; they have forfeited their lives.” Leviticus 20:13 "A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortune teller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. Leviticus 20:27 "Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death." Exodus 21:15 "If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness." Proverbs 20:20 "All who curse their father or mother must be put to death. They are guilty of a capital offense." Leviticus 20:9 "If a man commits adultery with another man’s wife, both the man and the woman must be put to death." Leviticus 20:10

All of those punishments are for serious sins that lead to other terrible wicked sins. Look at Sodom and Gamorrah, for example many of the sins listed were lifestyles there…and those lifestyles led to murder and the inability for peace loving people to live there. It wasn’t safe! When people commit those sins it is a sign of the condition of their hearts. Hearts that hate the ways of God and love to live in self pleasing (although at the same time self destructive ways). God is merciful and long suffering but when men decide to live their own way and it becomes an evil lifestyle that hurts people around them, then God has to act.

@@Ozone280 That was the old covenant, when Jesus came he made a new covenant: he said to love your neighbor as yourself and also to forgive. God is about Love, Patient, Mercy & Forgiveness. God loves us dearly and abundantly, he is patient with us to turn to him. He is merciful towards us & forgives us our sin when we ask.

Amen. God see what we can be with him. He Loves us the unique beautiful you. The person God created is like his own masterpiece or work of Art to God each one is so Loved and precious. I think God just wants us to come back to him as his wayward children returns he wraps his Holy spirit feathery wings of protection around us. Sometimes I could feel myself struggling and almost not believing God could Love me, because a lot of people sort of made me not feel good about myself, even family members. But finally it's like God help me to find great comfort in his Wonderful Love for me as my savior who promises to never leave us nor forsake us deuteronomy 31,6. And it's help me to even Love others more. Not what people say ,but what God says about us. Calls us his children his friends. No greater love has been than that one played down his life for his friends. Lord Jesus Christ Did that to save us. It's so amazing beautiful the love of God.

In the Bible 📖 book of Hosea, Was God teaching Hosea that Hosea's lesson to us, who also live in troubled times, is that even when the gates of prayer🙏🏾 appear to be closed, the gates of forgiveness remain open? Hosea teaches us that it is our job to calm troubled waters and create a sense of national harmony. Really love this movie based on the book of Hosea and it's depiction of God's love and mercy. I was so convicted of my sins and was an absolute mess when I realized my sinful state and God's love for me that was so great despite me not loving Him. Watched this almost a year ago and it led me to repentance and accepting Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Lord for your wonderful love 🙏

The last part of the book of Hosea, is not only does he buy back is wife despite her adulterous actions, but now Hosea has the perfect message for Israel and when he brings the message of love and forgiveness to the people, they repent and come back to the lord. Experience has the best way to give counsell and the best message out of trial and heart ache, Hosea gives them the perfect message of how the lord wants us back. Amazing love how can it be, that you lord would die for me.

That was amazingly well-done. The guy who played Hosea was great. I believed every emotion he showed & every word he said. The story was deeply moving. I knew the basic story but this touched me so much with its powerful depiction of Hosea's love (and God's love). I was in tears several times during the film.

I have always loved the book of Hosea. And have felt like Gomer towards HIM when Backsliding. But with hot tears falling down my face and coming back to HIM. Leaving the things of this world that can't bring happiness. ❤YESHUA JESUS. "But GOD demonstrated HIS own love towards us in that while we were still sinners ; CHRIST died for us" Romans 5:8. God can fill our hearts with enough love by His Holy Spirit to love our spouses through anything. We have to surrender our marriages to Him, so He can draw us and our spouses to Him. My wife and I are separated. The new Bible I bought to take to church after she left and I came back to God, church, and prayer has two ribbons. One of them was at Hosea chapter 2. I haven't moved it since I got the Bible. Also, Hosea is the 28th book in the Bible, and we just had our 28th anniversary. I have been standing on the book of Hosea since she left. I knew even in my backslidden state that Hosea was about redeeming an unfaithful spouse in marriage. Praise God for what He is doing in our lives and marriage!

16:08 - It's ok to be different. 19:05 - tough on the outside but inside you are really hurting. 26:00 - She is beyond our help. 27:49 - Ashley needs a huge dose of Unconditional Love. 44:05 - Sometimes it's hard to hear God when it's going well. 48:34 - When you make a Vow to the Lord you keep it. No matter what the circumstances are or the Situation. 53:00 - Your Sin will find you out.

Such a good film. I'm very happy to have found this. Hosea's love for Gomer truly reflected God's love for His people. There is nothing that we can do that will make us unlovable to the Lord. We are so privileged to receive such love that it is only right to reciprocate it to the best of our ability through Him also who loves us.

Reading your comment helped me realize God answered the question in my mind. I forgot why I was waiting for a godly man. Wondering what's good about a godly man. I watched this movie because I just saw this on KZfaq and thought maybe it would be nice to watch a movie about the bible. After watching i read the comments and realized God talked to me. I prayed and cried and I felt hopeful again. I am currently feeling down. Overwhelmed. Scared because of the past heartbreaks. All my fears came up to the surface and I built walls around my heart which made me terribly sad and I felt distant even from someone who loves me. I'm spending time alone away from everyone right now. I feel I am ugly, not enough, unlovable. Now, Hosea showed me, a godly man can love me as Christ loved the church. Unconditional. And it gave me hope now.

The troubled young lady's attitude(overt self-care to buffer the neglect from her parents, coming off as self-centered) is just a coping mechanism to deal with rejection and feeling unloved. Sometimes bad attitude just needs understanding and personal care, not judgment and condemnation.

I can relate to both Ashley and Gomer (adultery aside, as I’ve been faithful to my husband). Emotionally neglected and practically invisible my whole life. Had a complete meltdown last year that has caused waves in both sides of our families, and now I feel so ashamedly “seen” it’s not even funny.

This movie is such a blessing. The book of Hosea is probably the strongest example of the love of God towards us and shows us unconditional love. It is truly a wonderful treasure in the Old Testament. Not only that, but in Hosea it also tells of the end of days, and in those times all the fishes of the sea shall be taken away. I challenge everyone to do the research on the millions of fish that have been showing up dead all over the globe at times from 2011 to the present day. Things like this have never occurred in our recent history. We truly have arrived at the real end of days.

This story has really blessed me to further realise just how loving and gracious our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ really is and will be whatever the circumstamces are in our own lives. Hosea's love for Gomer and his obedience to God really touches my heart deeply. It makes me realize how a sinner like me still can be forgiven and will never lose God's love. I also realize something about myself, I thought I'm a good enough person but how wrong I am. I will be grateful for every day I can come to Him, ask for forgiveness and live according to His will. It's a long journey, I might end being bruised badly but He will be there to give me strength.

I cried. I came back to the Lord in recent years and every time I hear this story it makes the hairs stand. It’s funny how it reminds me of a friend who has a hard time understanding and accepting the Lord and it breaks my heart. I hope he will see the Lord for who He truly is, He is everything.

I just saw a fictional Christian movie called "Redeeming Love" that is based on the book of Hosea but set in the old west of the 1800's. One of the best movies I have ever seen. It has the same basic themes. Very much worth watching,beautiful scenery too.

The story of Hosea pulls on the heart strings like no other than the Gospel of Christ and the Song of Songs imto (in my tearful opinion)! Oh the deep deep Love of the Father of our Lord Yeshua! Beautifully produced film.
