The 19th century bridge was demolished and the newly built bridge was pushed in during a four-day lockout break.
A special sliding construction with hydraulic cylinders was used to push the 1400 ton bridge 34 meters into its final position.

I think I would have demanded if in those homes nearby, that the government provide alternative accommodation while that was being done. Those homes are far too near that construction site to get a decent sleep and not be disturbed.

Looks like they demolished a very old bridge. I wonder when the original bridge was built.

(Instead of taking advantage of the opportunity and installing a much, much wider passage straight away, the residents will have to deal with a needle ear for the next few decades!!!)

We can tackle a project like this with such efficiency that it is done in 4 days. Yet we can't cure cancer, hmmm? I think the Superintendent of this job needs to look into the medical field.
