I think you got the interpretation pretty correct Viking. I found the following quote from the lead singer: “The song expresses that climbing a tough mountain, both in reality and metaphorically, is a mental as well as a physical effort. I have tried to write this journey up the mountain as one for the mind and spirit as much as the feet and body. Anything of true value, comes at a true cost,” says Einar Selvik.

Yes. I've read about that too. The music video was shot in Norway, in the mountains of Tustna Island, in difficult conditions.

Lyfjaberg means Healing-Mountain in old Norse and is from Norse mythology. If someone needed to be cured of sickness or wanted comfort, they could climb the mountain with an offering and find it there. It is written about in an old Eddic poem which Einar pulled from. In his song, Einar conveys the mountain to be physical or inner struggles that we all need to be healed from - basically overcoming adversity with either. I believe the interpretation is what you make of it and how it helps you rise above this adversity. I have listened to Wardruna (Einar) for several years. There is something so primal and primitive in the simplicity of the drums and instruments designed to connect to the far distant past. Simply amazing! Btw - love your reactions!!! Check out Heilung or Danheim also!

I remember when I first heard this song. I was in the car driving for 30 minutes and had it immediately on repeat for something like three days! I can vaguely remember reading from an article that this song came out just as the ban on socializing had been lifted from covid, and that the artist meant this song as a song of healing and renewal from illness for all. It's definitely a powerful and haunting song, even before you know the lyrics!

This song never fails to make me cry from the moment I heard (and then that magnificent video) till now. Because I want to do exactly that. Climb a mountain and unburden my soul from everything inside me. I had the great privillege to see them Live this last September here in Athens and let me tell you.... Right under the Acropolis with them was a life altering experience that I will hold in my heart and soul till the gods take me... Couldn't stop crying from the moment they came out till it ended. My only regret was not taking my son with me cause he's also a fan.

Lyfjaberg. Healing mountain. Like you said this is in us. In our DNA. I love this song. In Finland we don't have mountains, but standing on the top of a fell in silence I feel like it's healing me. ❤ Great reaction, once again. 👌🏻

You are right about the ancient connection, it feels like the vibration is in sync with the vibrations of your body.

This reminds me a lot of shamanic trance chanting - I've just never heard it in the old Norse style before. This is a lot darker and heavier than the Native American style of healing chants, but very much the same, repetitive type of singing and drumming. So I'd say you're pretty right on with everything you said about the ancient, tribal, spiritual ritual. This was interesting.

I think your interpretation is on point. It sounds a lot like spiritural healing as a ritual, perhaps the final ritual. For me it is the last journey of a heavily wounded warrior. The song could help to let go of all fears. The way is hard but at every crossroads you stop and leave something behind. It lightens your burden. When you finally left everything behind that belongs to earth you reach the top and the mountain knows you. Pretty comforting in a threatening situation like war, wounds and the grief to let your family behind. And it can describe the struggle to handle your life. Becoming wiser during your journey. Leaving things behind you don’t need any longer is not a loss, it lightens the burden for sure.

To me is it indeed an ancient song, shamanic way.. this is my way of life. Its very beautiful. And wintertime, snow, white scene is also a time of selfreflection, stand still, and by daylight, sun.. in the East is meant to be reborn..❤ yes, a spiritual awakening .

Hey Viking ! First of all : congrats for the sponsor ! Now, you talked a lot about his drum in the video. I am pretty sure that he gave birth to it, like we say about this kind of drums used for spirituals moments. The skin and details, the fact that the drum is the perfect size for his arm and chest... Two possibilities : he gave him birth himself or someone did it for him. Finally, I think you have quite a good feeling about this song. When you look at the lyrics you can see them as instructions/rules to follow, step by step and what each of them will ask you and give you in return. Seems like an ancient north healing ritual, just like they had rituals for being adults, men/women, hunters, warriors... Everything had to be meaningfull otherwise it would fail. And I agree with @user-yf5bq3xj6e, Volfgang Twins got good ones too, ancient forest and jörmungandr are my favorites, can't wait to see if you'll like them too :) See you soon ;)

Yep, I believe you're right on point! In an interview with...hmm, can't remember his name now, but the male singer: He said, on a question regarding this song: "...nothing worth getting, or working hard to get or through comes easy - you must be prepared to fight for it"....Although, I'm sort of paraphrasing here. (And also, in 'real' authentic spiritual quests or hardships - you often have to sort of 'mentally'/figuratively have to 'die'...or 'let go of your old Self and ways'...I believe that's what he was saying this song is about. And it also happens to be mine...even before I heard of him telling this to - I guess a journalist of some sort!). Just MHO. Cheers from Sweden. (And even though he might be Norwegian - I cannot help to feel a bit of pride, since he's really drawing on and [re-]presents our shared Nordic heritage!)

I think I might have a bit of a sense of music that you like. I think you would love Stan Walker “I Am”. Trust me. Check it out. Your ears will thank you. Stan is a Māori man from New Zealand. The song has over 2 million views in a month or two, and the viewers aren’t wrong. There’s something really quite special about this one. “Connects to something ancient in you.” Stan Walker’s “I Am” song does that for me. I keep coming back to the song and can’t count the number of times I’ve seen it and reactions to it. I’ve even seen a reactor reacting to other reactors who reacted to this song because he became so obsessed with this particular song. It’s addictive and beautiful and you need to do this one. Soon. Not in a month. Unless you just can’t, and then…I understand. It’s ok. But I guarantee you’ll like it, maybe even a lot. (*Not to be confused with “I am the Color.” Totally different song.) Stan Walker has moments where I can hear a similarity to Dan Vasc’s voice, which we already know and love. That grit that you like is there, a little more subtle than in Dan’s voice, but it’s there, and some really lovely vocal fry moments too.

To better understand this song study the basics for spellcasting. But remember that you can't cast spells without believing in some sort of spirituality since the energy from both are one and the same.
