On this occasion, the members of the group provide us with invaluable information about the song and its lyrics. The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money. In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages real. This is the original letter: [María] Athilr Rikithir Ai Eril idi Uha Ijalh Fahd Tiade Elifi An It Athilr Rikithir Ai Landawariar Año Ana Fahd Tiade Elifi An It Aelwao Ano Ana Tuwa Tuwa Tau Liu Ano Ana Tuwa Tuwa [Kai] UL FOS LAU LAL GWUL PED UL ULD AUL LEI ELw ATH RET LAE TyS Otro REI GUI AU AU LA OA SEJS ZUL AU AL HaR HaS Ka TIL AZ Ha IR EL UNOZ LEIT Una DZ GUI UI THUL UHNG Ur OI WHUG DIT La La LIH LaL Ur USK GLa Jue LAL La La La TLG Jue TiL Ur Ur Ur Ur Gel THuL So Oth LAU IA TyL LI RAI WUI IL DAI TU Han UTH A IUr EL AL Dan An ERUI AL EIZ An RA TIU An KU AK A hug.

The symbol on the mother's belly is Aegishjalmur (helm of awe). It's a protection symbol.
@pipkin5287
@pipkin5287 2 жыл бұрын
The child seems to be getting taught by nature, but I wouldn't know if it's because she's alone or not. The sign on the mother's belly is probably a painted version of Ægirs Hjelm/Aegishjalmur/Ægishjálmr ("Ægir's Helmet"), which is a symbol described in the Poetic Edda as a symbol of ultimate protection - not just physical, but mentally and spiritually as well, in terms of protecting against all kinds of fear (e.g. terror, awe, respect). "Ægir/Ægi" means "Sea" in both dialects of Old Norse and is also the name of the personification of the sea. I think I read somewhere that "Ægir's Door", for example, describes the whirlpools that consumed ships. Ægir/Ægi has often been described or depicted as an old man with a long white beard, and seeing him standing on the water was supposedly an ill omen, as he was mostly known for surfacing to drag people and ships to the bottom of the ocean. Ægirs Hjelm is described in the Poetic Edda in a stanza with the shape shifting dragon, Fafner, whose blood is poisonous. The dragon guards a treasure, and with the help of the spell of Ægirs Hjelm, is invincible. However, Fafner is eventually defeated by Sigurd Fafnersbane with his sword, Gram. Sigurd then steals Ægirs Hjelm from Fafner. You may have been told this story in the form of Sct George slaying the Dragon? If it's not the same story, it's at least got really similar imagery. In The Galdrabók (a sort of "spell" grimoire), the symbol is also described as something you "Wear between your brows" (paraphrasing here from me translating from Icelandic to Danish, and then to English). Hope that gave you a little more insight! I won't claim to be any authority on this stuff - this is just what I have from Nordic folktales in my own language. So, please take everything said here with a grain of salt. We don't actually know precisely what Ægirs Hjelm was for. The only thing I can say for sure though, is that it was not a Rune, as the runes represent a different sort of galdr/magic, and we do have some notion that our ancestors divided up what they called "magic" into several categories, such as Rune or Seiðr (and a handful of others).

@@n0namesowhatblerp362 I don't know exactly what language they're using in this song, but it could very well be proto-norse. Specifically Younger Proto-norse, or what, in Scandinavia, would be called "Synkopetiden", which was spoken from approx. year 500-700 AD. Since the song is based around the Roman gold coins from that same time period that was found up here in Scandinavia.

There are already a few who explained a bit. The Video has also even an explanation. I wanne add a thing: the "coin" we see in the Video is not a coin. It is a collar. I own one of these because i bought the last albums collectors edition. It's snail warrior. I was thinking a lot in my past why a snail? And i think now its more about the power within that makes you strong. Not rly about a snail. And Kai Uwe Faust makes them himself (one of the bandmembers). Those signs on the mother's belly are icelandic sorcery. I don't understand dem yet. But the longer i follow the heathens path the more I suddenly understand.

The final scene of this is the one that always moves me to emotion. I don't know why it does. That final scene packs in all the emotion of the entire video to me. Heilung often borrows from pre viking culture reaching deep into proto-Germanic culture. In these cultures children born under an eclipse are said to be born with special abilities among those abilities is the ability to interact with nature on a primal level in order to be it's protector with included inherent magic which is how you saw her bring the dead bird back to life. You saw her communicate with a stag on its level. She is destined to be the protector of nature but is blissfully unaware of her role as most children are. Fast forward to her looking out over the horizon and spotting the ox in the near distance. She squares up now understanding what her fate is. She has embraced her destiny and rushes towards it. She's decided nothing will get in her way. She will smash through her obstacles head down, horns forward... like an ox.

What is the coin/charm? You are wearing one yourself! It is called bracteate and the song is based on texts found on such amulets dated back to Iron Age. In old era it was used as jewellery and protection amulets depicting some brawe sceneries or part of tales, but later got adopted as a currency when rare metals (silver/gold) were used instead of common ones (iron/bronze/copper).

@@NORSEVIKING I meant you have the same item as a piece. If you tried to ask about the symbol, then I did understood the question. Unfortunatelly, the symbol is not recognizable and may be based on many ancient symbols compiled together. - Single spiral could be celtic symbol of spiritual things or magic (refer to the birth during eclipse curse) - It has antlers so it should represent spiritual authority again and also regeneration (thing will get better same as fallen antlers will grow again on the deer). Antlers also represent a crown, bringing you closer to the sky. Meaning higher being, more might, or anything nonstandard in a good way. - The above combined with two mini feet and also the "person" holding a weapon could be some symbol adaptation of viking's einherjar (fallen viking warriors in Valhalla) or it could be army of one, lone fight, hero/strong person. - The amulet background is full of sun rays originating from between the antlers and with the sun eclipse curse placed on her in mind. So it may represent her strength to fight against it and live on. If you think about it all, there could be dozens of meanings. However, if you think also about the whole story in the video with some of above symbol meanings, it seems as it is about circle of life represented by one choosen/higher being giving birth, dying and leaving the amulet for next generation. So, same as the antlers regrow each season, it represents heritage, the ability of nature to regrow, the will of life to continue, spiritual lineage... I see also the inability to break out of ever repeating cycle and your own fate, because we will all have to return back to nature, to be part of it again, and if the higher power (not some god, but its the best description I came up with) will allow it we (humanity) will continue rebirth. In the end of video there is also a ritual during another eclipse, so people have to do something to keep the cycle running, like give a birth to new antler lady and end the old one (scene where old she run against the musk ox to end it and let new life to continue). The story in video is deep yet simple, the amulet is just something common, but here representing the will to continue or the burden of keeping the cycle running, her fate, her duty to live -> give birth -> die. Most probably it was just purposedly made amulet with person like figure with antlers and sun to fit the song/video theme and there is no real meaning. Only my imagination running wild and I need to snap out of it.

You definitely called yourself "an actual norseman", but I digress. Normally, I wouldn't waste my time on petty shit like this, but I'm bored. My heritage is mostly Norwegian. I also have Swedish, German, and other European backgrounds. My family immigrated from Norway while it was occupied by the Nazis, due to several life-threatening encounters. I have read a lot of the Norse myths, but still have much more to get through. I don't know everything. My necklace was a gift from my father and I wear it proudly because it was a gift from him and also what it symbolizes in the myths. And I'm proud of my heritage. As for my name, "NORSE", I just didn't want to use my real name. So, the first thing I thought of was my gamertag I've had forever. I've explained to you that it is my heritage and got it from the gamertag. If you're still bothered by that, I'd say you're doing pretty well in life to not have anything else to be worried about.
