AMAZING QANTAS B747-400ER landing into Melbourne Airport!!

Memories!!! last time when i flew on a 747-400 was 6 years ago, it was so huge, the classic 4 engine with a pointy nose, not many airlines use this plane anymore, queen of the sky will be missed!!!

My first time flying one was in October and again in November 2017, on VH-OJS and VH-OJU respectively. Sucks they’re the next ones along with VH-OJT and VH-OEB. Pretty sure they going to be retired by half way thru next year 😔

Yes, Qantas is the only airline which've bought B747-400ER :D

nice. i thought they all looked the same. Ive seen other 747s with the RR engines as well. Didnt know there was such thing as the ER for the 747, cant find anything about it though, Anyone can explain the difference?

I don't know much either, but pretty sure the ER can fly longer so Qantas needed it for AUST-USA flights, especially Dallas when A380 has not arrived yet.

@@xzseng4524 The difference is 747-400ER has higher fuel capacity and higher MTOW. Engines are GE as opposed to RR on QF's regular -438s (RR engines are the heaviest structurally on the -400). -400ER has additional fuel in forward cargo hold tanks that were specially designed. Introducing to the fleet allowed MEL-LAX and SYD-SCL to be served with minimal payload penalties.
