The Kami band going heavy on this one. Can’t wait to see how it transfers to the live show. Love you guys and Travis and Susie Q also. I’m a new subscriber and probably not your typical one. I’m in my 60’s and am a professional classical and world musician of 40+ years. But I never lost my rock roots from the 70’s and love the fact that rock/metal has found a new home in Japan.

Great reaction. 'Monochrome' is a beautiful song - but it is deep too. They never put out a lyric video before, I'm thinking they really want us to know what they are singing so we can decide what the song means (as ever it is open to interpretation of course). From my starting point of almost complete ignorance I have been learning so much from comments under other reactions about Ragnarok and the Norse mythology being referenced and the general consensus is there are also many references to the bombing of Hiroshima (Su-metal's home town) and Nagasaki, even if it is not specifically about those tragic events. The "monochrome firework" could be the bomb and the tree they used in the visuals throughout and that was finally shown in colour at the end could be the Hiroshima Peace Tree that survived the bombing as well as the tree of life from Norse mythology. As ever BABYMETAL do leave us with a feeling of hope and optimism and the message that no matter how long the night, the morning will still come. Colour will return to the world.

It could also be about how a person is living in a monochrome life alone, the after finding that one person at the end brings color to their life. But as you said, it could be left up to interpretation.

They have many serious songs other than this one. Actually, their second song (according to live performances), "Ijime, Dame, Zettai", is a song against bullying. But this one is even more serious and it's from the lyrics perspective. They built a huge allegory with several layers of significance and they went really deep. With a dark and explicit reference to the end of the world ("Ragnarök" from the Norse mythology) and many others less literal, bringing the word "metaphor" to another level. Not to mention the visuals on this video, which are quite explicit if you pay attention. Very beautiful and sad song, with a final touch of optimism and hope. A very BABYMETAL move. Until next time!

Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse.🦊🤘🌐 It's been a while since your last BM reaction and I'm glad you're back, I'm not sure if you already reacted to their first single "Divine Attack - Shingeki", so if you didn't then highly recommend you to watch it. They're probably using the Norse mythology, Yggdrasil (the Tree Of Life) as the Aogiri tree, one of the survivor tree in Hiroshima, and the monochrome fireworks altogether along with more references as a metaphor, once you know where SuMetal was born it all makes sense. But instead of endorse negativity she's giving us hope that if a war or any other sad moment (like the recent pandemic) is happening nowadays, the colors will be back.☔☀️🌈 We all know so far that this time they're introducing us to their metalverse with 10 different worlds and songs, and we're gonna see the full picture once the full album is out, probably some more hints with the next singles coming and the live performance next January. OTFGK. Imo this album will propel BABYMETAL IN THE DISCUSSION INTO THE ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME👊and i think they will get in before 2030....with them creating a whole new genre of rock metal music combined with their huge body of work along side their worldwide appeal to so many countries....IMO THAT IS WHAT THE RR HALL OF FAME IS ALL ABOUT...about how much your music has touched the lives of the world:)

This song is an example of the matured Babymetal that Su and Moa have spoken about for several years. They are now 24 and 23 years old, and as mature artists, the sound of Babymetal has to evolve accordingly. If this song is any indication, that means we are going to get songs about more substantive subjects than chocolate and mint flavoured time machines like we did in the past. While it's sad that the uwu kawaiiness of their younger days is probably no more, its exciting to see where they will go from here creatively.
