I got access to a spot where an old farmhouse once stood. The farmhouse was tore down somewhere in the 1930's-1940's and now the area is all overgrown with thick brush and woods. We found the foundation of the house and started metal detecting around the area. I found some really cool pieces including one of the most beautiful piece of silver I've ever dug up! We also investigated an underground hatch door that was somewhat hidden in the thick brush. We thought it might be some kind of hidden room but things aren't always what you originally had in mind! Kyle had a rope in his trunk so we drew straws to see who'd descend down and explore, sorry Nibbler! lol

Yup. That’s an old septic tank. Called a “dry well" and were no more than a stone-lined or cement block-lined pit. This pit serviced to collect both the solids..like a septic tank...and allow the wastewater to flow into the ground (thru spaces between the rocks or blocks). Since this was an old farm house tore down in the 30’s...my guess is...an outhouse once set there. Farms back then didn’t have running water and electricity so not sure what’s up with the pipes. Unless the landowners were mistaken about the yrs the house was occupied. Plus, way back then, if a farmer wanted running water they had to pay for the piping from the main line (which would have been in the city) to their home. And pay for electricity to be run from the nearest pole or station.

Back in the day the household trash would be taken a couple hundred feet from the house, and buried in a trench that was back-filled every time a new section was dug. check around for their garbage dump site and you should be able to find many many old bottles. Best site i ever found had 15 patent medicine bottles all together, from the depression era. My best guess was it had a high alcohol content and someone needed a snootful. Have fun digging those old bottles.

I agree with Michael! Slow down take a breath. You are not using the right tools for artifacts. Do some extensive research. I started collecting in the late 1950's and still do. Bottles, gold dredging & panning. Raw gemstones, rock hound That's me. Still have a broach with platinum & cameo, found in Nevada ghost town back outhouse dump, 100 years old then, also in the 50's. You are going to learn by your mistakes! !!! Don't make the same ones I did. I am 67 and still scour the mountains. Luck would have it you are presently on private land. Make sure you have all permits when on any land. States I have hunted....Nevada, Idaho, California, Oregon Arizona. ... I could go on. I am currently in Idaho. Yes it is fun, rewarding and you will soon have an extensive collection. I do. At your age you can both learn more than ever. New technologies are amazing! !! Be careful, enjoy and God Bless 📷📷📹📹🐱🐱

The .410 shell has it primer backing out of the shell, usually has 9/16 oz of lead pellets usually #6,7,8's in size (higher the number the smaller the BB's). it's a 3 1/2" long shell, The still make them, great little shotgun, the 410 gauge is different in this shell, it's actually .41" in diameter, not a true "gauge" number, just the way they were named, guns are funny..

WWI tank replica of that tractor piece. The future General Patton saw the value of these future 'Tanks' and spearheaded their popularity during WWI and in subsequent years, and this very design you see with that piece they found. As noted on History on the Net... "Patton personally oversaw the logistics of the tanks in their first combat use by American forces (WWI). He valued these machines, ordering that no U.S. be surrendered. He led the tanks from the front during the march to the Battle of Saint-Miheil, and walked in front of the German-held village of Essey in order to inspire his men". Nice historical find.

The piece with the two holes..looks like a large chain link. The thin piece that looks like a coin..resembles a knock out from an old electrical panel box. That small metal box resembles the old connector box for phone line terminals (indoor type..usually mounted to baseboards). The shell is more than likely a .410 Gauge. The piece that looks like a grate/drain....reminds me of the flat flange that covers a thick lens light on old rail yards (you'd be surprised how much petrified wood you find in the track stone!). Definitely some unique finds!.

I love the way you like to scratch up your finds with those gritty mitts of yours. Some hunters use squirt bottles or wait till they get home to clean the goods, but what do they know.

Holy Cow...you are SO careless when you start cramming your shovels into the areas....I am surprised you don't damage more items than you do. Everything should be treated with care and respect....it's kind of hard watching you sometimes! LOL...you may want to spend some time visiting antique shops to better familiarize yourself with things from the past. Some of the comments you make are pretty embarrassing. I DO enjoy some of the areas and old houses/land that you hunt.

The round grate from Libby Cataphote was probably a protective cover over a light, especially for an area close to machinery/flying debris. The glass/squarish piece I thought that it was an insulator related to knob and tube electrical or old phone lines or cattle electric fence. Others said it was a canning jar lid. I wondered if the heavy engraved toy was of a World War 1 tank.
