Garrigill isn't the source of the South Tyne. Tynehead is on the Northern flanks of Cross Fell, very, very close to the sources of the Wear and Tees. Talking of Cross Fell, an overnight in Gregg's Hut would be a good bothy adventure.

Hi Eddy, looks like a great adventure. I remember going on a school trip many years ago, starting off at the source of the south Tyne, up somewhere on the Alston moors. Now I have come to realise that the North Tyne & South Tyne meeting of the waters near warden! It was quite a sight on a walk during the covid pandemic’. For some reason I hadn’t twigged that there were two sources to the River Tyne to make one😂
