Great haul. Last year I was explaining the Thai/Siam dancer jewelry to my daughter. The rings were very popular in the 60s. I used my babysitting money to buy one from a jewelry party that my aunt hosted. I loved that ring and was really sad when it broke during study hall. Well, Lss, she surprised me with one last year on Mother's Day. Horray for jewelry memories and thoughtful children.

Since about 1980, the registration system for Mexican silver has used the letter-number format on your sterling rose. The first letter indicates the location (T is for Taxco) and the second letter is usually the first letter of the registrant's first or last name. The number indicates that this is the 8th person to register using the letters TA (or TR?). So ... made in Taxco by someone whose first or last name begins with A (or R?), and the 8th person to register as TA (or TR?). Since 8 is a low number, this implies an early registrant, so someone who was actively creating pieces close to (and possibly before) the start of the system in 1980.

I love how clearly you described the system of markings! Thanks for sharing and I’ll take note of it. You remind me that I have a small book on Mexican markings that I have to find and read up on. Thanks again!

@@bronxbaubles lol That "small book" is where I learned this info. I bought my copy new on amazon -- not expensive and worth every penny. I want to give you a shout out for referring people to Jason Adams' videos. His knowledge is absolutely encyclopedic! I've started a scribbler that I use exclusively for notes from his videos. I love how he teaches you to look at a piece and see its distinct qualities. And he appears to be a very sweet person, to boot.

He’s the best thing the jewelry community has got! And he’s so supportive to the jewelry tribe. He’s a treasure. I will be looking for that book this weekend and see if I can figure out the designer of that beautiful rose brooch. Thanks again for sharing.

The elephant bracelet is definitely unique. When I first saw it and you asked if we knew what it was made of. My first thought was a corde bracelet from the 40's. It has the look of the Corde clutches. Awsome find

An ankle bracelet is called an anklet. So cute. I love your look for today. There is a serious problem in Vietnam, the Elephants are being harmed when their hair is harvested, even their tails cut off. Just look how many come up in Google images, even on gold bangles. How can anyone think they would get luck or protection, or whatever from these things. Too sad.
@bronxbaubles
@bronxbaubles 25 күн бұрын
Thanks for reminding me about what they are called anklets. I gotta remember that. I know the elephant hair bracelet is controversial. I heard about the elephants in African. Wasn’t aware about them in Vietnam. I’m hoping to create a video dedicated to the elephant hair jewelry. I’ll make sure to look that up.

I’m a hoarder of sorts. My full time job keeps me from dedicating the time to selling my hoard. Since I focus my free time on enjoying my family, friends, NYC and producing videos. I like to convince myself that they are investments for my retirement as they likely will increase in value. That’s the dream I’m selling myself.

😂😂😂😂😂 Coptic cross is NOT an ancestor of angh. It is historically impossible. There were no Copts or Christianity when egyptians were using a symbol of life ...angh. Coptic cross is thousands years younger😅

I didn’t catch my error of using the wrong word. I should have said that the ankh is the predecessor of the Coptic cross… it’s was the other way around…my bad! The Copts adapted the ankh into a cross. Thanks for the correction!
