Hi, those tree fossils were so cool you could see so much detail in the fossilized bark. I love ferns too, they always look so delicate whether they are fossilized or alive. My favourite fern is the Dicksonia Antarctica, it's so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. x

Super detailed fern fossils. I can even see the lines still shaply defined in each tiny leaf. Leave then where you found them is also my advice to viewers.

Petrified wood can be really awesome as it can record ferns, bark, insects from the past so we can see them fossilized now in detail. Joining a rock club can give you access to see more of these and collect when the club goes looking. Great video.

Subbed you. In my early days, when my brother and myself were 10 and 12 years old, we spent many summers in the mountains of West Nanticoke and Tilbury Terrace. We found so many fern and bark fossils climbing the rocks. None of it was State Game Land. I still have numerous cased examples that I saved from those times. Now I metal detect and my brother searches for arrowheads. Together we sometimes have a great adventure. It is too bad that the strip mining ignored the archeological and paleolithic discoveries they uncovered. Nice work. Keep it up.

Very nicely presented even in spite of a slight slip on the rocks. Actually, the video you have of the fossils is perfect for school presentations and photos of them can be reproduced for wall hangings or entered into photography shows. Well done!

That was fantastic! Love seeing fossils, old pottery, old stuff, etc. So, I'm thinking how cool it would be to bring alum. foil to make pressings?, etchings of the fossils! (Good f gravestones too.) You could mount them on mats to frame! Hmmm...

The best fossils I ever found were in a shale bed in Indiana. I was working on a pipe line reroute. We'd stopped for lunch in the middle of corn field next to Pipe Creek--yes that was the name on the map. The creek was almost dry so I walked across it to check out the shale on the other side. The ledge was about 10 feet high and 50 or so feet wide. It was packed solid with fossils. I could have back up my truck and filled it with slabs of fossils. I did think about going back and asking the land owner if I could pick a few, but the weather closed in and it snowed.

There at Knoebels amusement park they have a fossilized tree trunk from the local mammoth coal vein. Along with a few other fossils on display.
@bfunkiee14 жыл бұрын
Did you know the coal measures central East cost of USA are the same as the central belt Scotland. The two land masses used to be joined 320 million years ago. The fossils you are showing are exactly the same as I'm finding around here!

Been collecting fossils for over 30 years. Love the adventures I have had. (and there have been a few) Always interesting. Last year found a hot spot in Wyoming....unfortunately, so did some big prairie rattlers, way too many for me to tackle. Be careful on the cliffs, it is no fun to fall 30 feet down at all. (been there done that) The prize specimen, a petrified palm tree trunk is still midway up the cliff I fell off of.

The scaly fossils are fom the conifers' early beginnings.ie, Loblolly, White, Spruce Pines. Helock fir, Douglas fir, and Leyland Cypress share those characteristics in their bark also.
