In this video we take a look at what I think could be one of the best value portable projectors on the market, the Xiaomi Mijia Youth 2. This is a 1080p LED projector with a brightness of 460 ANSI lumens sold primarily to the Chinese market however it can be found from AliExpress for only £350. I've been unable to find a similarly priced projector with the same level of optical quality, resolution and brightness. The projector also supports camera based autofocus and automatic keystone adjustment which makes it ideal as "plug and play" option.

I did some research, and it seems that the global version is likely called the 'Mi Smart Projector 2', and runs stock Android TV instead of MIUI TV. (KZfaq flagged my comment as spam when I included the link) If you choose to keep it, you may or may not be able to flash the global firmware to it and get access to the Play Store, but it would likely not have a valid Netflix ESN, thus it may not be possible to watch Netflix, but stuff using Widevine DRM may or may not still work. (7:42) The global version has that button marked with the Google Assistant logo instead, likely as a result of Google Play Protect certification requirements. Other than that and the inclusion of Netflix and Android TV Live Channels buttons, the remotes should be identical between both versions. Edit: I may actually consider getting one since I've found a used one for $500, that's a global model so I'd be able to use the 'smart stuff' (31:03), or someone else is selling a used Chinese market version for $460 for if I were to just want to only really use the HDMI input.

I need help , which one should I buy to watch movies and videos at home? What is the advantage and disadvantage of version 1 compared to 2, which one has more vivid and beautiful colors?

Looks good to use as a projector only with a FireStick.

Very informative. Although max screen size is mentioned as 120 inch, but what's the optimum screen size do you recommend for this Projector so that brightness level and image quality isn't compromised much?

Thanks for the review. Couple of questions. 1) Why didn't you just project onto the wall in the living room? 2) how far away would it need to be to get a 40" image?

Very good point, should have mentioned it in the video, for the 120" screen I'd say the distance is probably just over 3m.

I can't project directly on that wall as there is a TV mounted on it. I don't want to use a projector as my main display so using an inexpensive screen that I can easily put away is a good compromise.
