luckily it really only works from one angle. any other and the angle and shadows seem off. most people would only see it as a screen unless they only noticed when in that exact position.

it probably only works from one angle, isn't it still a 2D screen so it can't actually be a 3D illusion, you probably have to see it from the correct angle

I don't understand how part of the dragon's head is outside of the display as it moves across the top.

@@sophritoh while that seems like a clear-cut answer, unless one could look at the rental contract and zoning laws for the area there could be clauses that stipulate the installation of something that excessive without a mutual agreement between tenant and landlord. Unless you got the paperwork to show it definitively.

I stared at this for a good bit of time. And I do think I see some roto-scoping or whatever it's called. So yea. There are some impressive billboards out there. But I could tell somthing was off because, as far as I know, the fancy billboards aren't designed to update based on the direction of sunlight.

Thanks for the update. It's real, I don't post fake content. The outer edges of the screen seem invisible, and the dragon appears to extend past the screen, but it's actually still on the screen. The dragon also appears in a recessed section of the building, but there is no recess, it's all an illusion on a flat screen on a flat building. I have another video of a triple 3D Billboard, each about 10 stories high, with 3 giant warriors on 3 separate buildings, that is actually more impressive than this. When I find that video I will post it.

@@pm5872 It's because the video running the imagery also simulates the 'facade of the building behind'. Those are part of the program itself. The actual edges of the screen running the program are further out than they seem. Notice how you don't see anything that's 'live' interacting with the edges of the dragon. You don't see anything that can't be programmed into the software. No pedestrians seeming to walk 'behind' it, no cars, driving 'behind' it. That would mean running some kind of software that recorded every person and object in motion on the street, then, as soon as they passed behind the screen, distorted them to fit the angle that's being displayed and instantly animated that distorted image to make it look as though they were passing behind the dragon(when in fact they were entirely out of view, behind the screen). And if that person/object turned back and changed direction the software would have to un-distort them for when they reappear from behind the edge of screen. I don't understand why there aren't more of these kinds of things in big cities. They're so cool. I've never seen a single one in London for example.

It's because the video running the imagery also simulates the 'many windows' you see. Those are part of the video. The actual frame of the video itself is much bigger than it looks. Very clever.

Then draw clear blue sky _around_ the picture frame to mimic the real sky. If you held that piece of paper up against the sky it'd look like the picture frame was floating in mid-air a few inches to the side of your hand. It'd trick the eye into thinking the sky you'd drawn was part of the real sky. It's the same principle at work in the video.
