Hi Ashley. 😊In minute 37:49 when you were doing the review or checking of the errors, it is not always necessary to edit your document and change the size of your image so it fits. You can just change in KDP from -No Bleed- to - Bleed (PDF only)- when you’re selecting the boxes for Size, matte or glossy, Bleed or not bleed; it will allow your images to go beyond the line so you won’t need to edit your document. Wait so when downloading canva to kdp do you press print PDF and click the bleed and when you upload it to KDP do you click no bleed? I been trying to figure this out as I kept changing things because of the margins thing😒 sigh

Hi Karen! Thanks for watching. There are a few different choices for paper style and color or black and white. With planners, I personally prefer to do them in color on standard color paper.

One additional question: If I want to order author copies to sell on. my own, how much does that usually cost? And how long does it usually take to get author copies?

Hey! You can order up to 999 Author copies at one time! I have only personally ordered 10 at one time and I also live in Alaska so my wait time was two weeks.

Hi Ashley As per my knowledge, the reason for the errors was because you click on NO Bleed in Bleed settings in KDP, if you click on Bleed (PDF only), then the images with bleed will be fine and you will not have to correct them and have them inside the margins. Thanks for sharing all the info.

Hi Ashley, I love this video and the step by step guidance. Question.. when you are building the cover at around 29:18, when I choose an image then drag it over it covers the text. How do I get the image to go behind the text on cover?

Now canva has a layers panel and this has been such a life saver for me, towards the top near where color selection is you will see the word “position” click there and you should see each layer you have. You can then just drag each layer where you want.

Hey, I love your content. I know the Canva agreement has changed recently. Are we still able to use Canva to create journals and upload to KDP? If I am reading the agreement right, We can't use any elements free or pro because KDP requires you to own the copy right of those elements and pictures. And according to Canva, If that is the case Canva was like we can't use any elements. Which is heartbreaking if that is true.

I did hear that they changed a few things. However this doesn't have to be a bad thing necessarily! The canva elements are great but you can get amazing elements on other websites. I would check out creative fabrica. You can download elements and then upload them into canva and use them this way. You could still start off with a template to give you a baseline and by the end you will have something completely different using approved elements from creative fabrica. There is a free Trial in the description!

Because I have completely so many journals, I'm just wondering if I print and bind my own journals as I finished product, could I still use Canva elements? It would be a PDF that I print out, but others would have the finished product...

Hi there! Thank you so much for this! I did run into one problem when following your video. At 29:50 you were able to see the cover template through the picture. When I did that, the template went away and all I had was the picture. How do you get the template to stay so you know where you are?

Oh Thank you for time stamping for me!!! I get a lot of questions about a specific moment in a video and its quite the task to go through a video to find the moment to answer the question. lol You ROCK! After rewatching it looks like I had my transparency down on the image but for some reason you don't see that happening. So keep the template there and then as you add elements, drop the transparency just enough to see the template behind so that you can make sure where things are landing in your design. Then when done up the transparency back up and delete that Template before saving. This was one of the first videos I ever made so I may redo it a bit in the future. Hope this helps.

I understand that i get the size for canva for the book cover from the amazon kdp cover calculator, but whats the size for the pages inside the book, or in your case the planner ? Like what size should i put in canva when i create the inside pages of the book?

Easily two weeks but it all depends how fast you get it created, then uploaded, then approved and then shipped.

Hi! You definitely can. I use the templates because it helps me make sure that I am always getting the proper size. Since I design multiple things for multiple platforms it gets confusing and templates are my go to!

I have never attempted less than 50 personally. Perhaps there are more pages you could add? Maybe title page, author story etc.?

Is the "page turn direction" from 26:30 actually left to right or is it right to left? I originally put right to left - because that's how we turn pages, but then watching the video, you say left to right, but we ~read~ left to right, not turn pages...right? I'm definitely overthinking this :') Help.

Are we the same person? lol I had to read this multiple times and I think I am now overthinking this lol. I ended up googling and here we go "They use the term "page turn" when they really meant "reading direction" The reading direction is left to right, so choose that for English-language books."

So do you not use the CMYK for your cover. I thought kdp required that for print books.

Categories have changed but it should be “Any department, office products, office supplies, calendars, planner and personal organizers and THEN planners” lol hope this helps!

HI Vee! Great Question. It comes out of your overall profit in the end. So no upfront money. And you have the ability to set the prices for your books to offset the amount it costs for Amazon to create.

You will always need to have a cover. If you check the description on the video there should be a link to the cover calculator to get the dimensions and template to use in Canva. If you need further help let me know!

Hey! I’m having issues with kdp. Is there a template or something I can use to make sure I get my inside pages correct. I’ve been working with a calendar I have made now for 3 weeks but when I go to launch previewer some of my pages are still wrong and the cover. Please can you help me? My project is 8.5x11.

Hi! I created a children’s book in Canva. I would like it to be an ebook too. I tried to upload it to KDP but it says I need it in the EPUB format. So I found an app called Calibre and tried to convert it and it was a hot mess 😂 The format was way off. How do I get my book with illustrations converted to EPUB? Thanks 🙏
