Yes, we do have a postal code system, but it's not official and not acknowledged. I have it in my address on my Amazon account, and DHL still sends my packages to any Race Course in whatever parish there's a Race Course in Jamaica if a seller fails to put St. Mary on my package, despite the fact that my postal code is always on all my packages. If the postal code system was an official working system, they would know exactly what town in what parish I'm at without having to call me to ask me where I am when they get mixed up and can't find me.

There can use GPS coordinate to identify a house or building. Subloc can there be added to GPS. Just as a hyper name is use for a website, a name of a street can be huler attached to the gps coordinate.

@tm8844 you Google it, but it's not a working system, so it's really worthless because it was abandoned in 2007, so it can't be used officially.

Only if the items you bought from Amazon are eligible for free returns from Jamaica. Otherwise, you'll have to pay for return shipping or be stuck with the items if the shipping costs are not worth it. It is noted in the listed items that Amazon ships to Jamaica whether or not they are eligible for free returns, so pay attention to that before placing your orders.

Yes, so when he's saying things come by Tara or DHL, they really come by UPS or DHL, and Tara is the courier that delivers the items shipped via UPS. I guess Tara may also be the one to contact for Amazon returns that were shipped with UPS.

Not true. Amazon has an account with them. Whenever they shipped returns they send a monthly bill to Amazon. They getting paid.

The courier will call you for directions to your house. That's how it is for people with no street address with a house number. That's how my address is, and I order a lot from Amazon. Both the Tara and DHL delivery drivers that serve my area know exactly where I am. Many times, Amazon sellers mess up my address, but the delivery drivers know exactly where to bring my stuff based on my name.

I was wondering that same thing for those who live in the more rural parishes. I can’t imagine even curriers delivering to some small country towns.

@faithm2535 it's left up to the driver's discretion. If he feels it's too remote for him to access, he can leave it at the nearest post office, pickup center, or with someone that you know along his main route. If packages are being delivered via DHL, they have options in their app where you can choose to have your packages delivered or held for pickup.

The word ‘discretion’ tend to be a red flag in business because it doesn’t coexist well with reliability and predictability…which is what helped Amazon put so many small retailers out of business in the US. I like the idea at leaving at post office for small/remote towns.

@faithm2535 I was going to say it's just my opinion about the discretion thing, but as I recalled, one of my Amazon packages port of destination was Mobay, and the Mobay DHL office only delivers as far east as Ocho Rios, St. Ann and I'm located around a mile east of Oracabessa in St. Mary. They had put it on a delivery vehicle, and the driver called me for directions thinking that my Race Course district was the one in Trelawny, and when told him it was in Oracabessa, he said his final stop east is Ocho Rios, and he wanted me to meet him somewhere in Ocho Rios to collect it. When I told him I couldn't, he said the only alternative was for him to send it to the Kingston office for them to deliver it to me, because it's the Kingston office that delivers to St. Mary, but that would delay the delivery for about a week. I agreed for it to be sent to Kingston. On many occasions, they still sent my packages to the Mobay office, and I have to call and tell them to send them to Kingston. DHL then threatened to start charging me to redirect my shipments to Kingston because they said it was occurring too frequently, and it cost them to keep redirecting them from Mobay to Kingston to be delivered to St. Mary. I told them that the carrier facility at the Miami Gateway in Florida seems to throw my stuff on any one of the planes coming to Jamaica, whether they are flying into Mobay or Kingston. They told me to change my town from Oracabessa to Kingston in my Amazon profile, so all my stuff will be put on a Kingston bound plane at all times. I did, and it's working.
