Practical reason for a sound suppressor: Reducing the volume of a gunshot to below the level that causes immediate hearing damage, which is real handy if you don't have hearing protection at the range. Doubly so if it's an indoor range and the acoustics make the building sound like a dozen marching bands are hate-fucking each other with their instruments.

Your videos brought Project Zomboid to my attention and I downloaded it today! It’s exactly the kind of survival game I’ve been looking for for years. So detailed, so freeform. I turned zombies off on my main game because they give me horrible anxiety. The only thing I have to worry about is starvation, and my own stupidity. I broke a window and got glass lodged in my hand. Weirdly, it’s helping me forget about how much I want to smoke. So thank you!
@friedmandesigns
@friedmandesigns 2 жыл бұрын
Royal, kudos on the smoking ... Keep on! ☻ After you've played a bit, if you want to try with low but manageable zombie amounts, try "Sandbox" settings with very low zombie Population Multiplier (PopMult), Starting Multiplier (StartMult) and Peak Multiplier (PeakMult) and perhaps even play with 'Respawn Hours = 0' ( _this will make no zombies respawn after you've 'killed' them_ ). PopMult = The desired zed population. StartMult = The percentage of the desired population your world begins with. PeakMult = The percentage of the desired pop. the world 'ends' with. A good start would be PopMult = .5 (half the "normal" amount), StartMult = .2 (one-fifth the desired PopMult will be spawned at the start of your world), PeakMult = 1 (the peak zed population will be 100% of your PopMult (.5), so still half the "normal" amount). You can set your "Peak Day" to something like 60/90/120 days, which will give you two-four in-game months to get used to running into zeds and either fighting and/or avoiding them before they reach their peak (PeakDay). Cheers.

Book Recommendation: Unsouled (Cradle Series) by Will Wight Also, about the gun stuff. First, the question "why should anyone have this" is because other government sponsored civilians (e.g. police) can have them. We've already established just in the last year or so that police don't receive enough firearm training as is, and have been documented misusing their force with little to no penalty. Having the potential to do bad things doesn't prevent the government sponsored civilians from owning body armor, suppressors, or "weapons of war"; thus, other civilians shouldn't be prevented either. Having a monopoly of force creates a "when" not "if" problem for citizen rights. Second, despite media's representation of firearms, they are a statistically insignificant number of deaths; from 2019's FBI numbers there's 13,000 pistol murders and 300 rifle murders a year. Your doctor is more likely to kill you with bad handwriting than a bad guy with a gun, and it's hard to become a doctor. Speaking of ease of obtaining, it's easier to get a driver's license than it is to get a gun, they don't even call the fbi (heck the wait time for a suppressor is a year, costs a $200 tax stamp, and requires a ton of paperwork like your trying to get a passport). If you look at deaths, cars are pretty much an apex predator to the human race lol. There's a lot of people I don't feel comfortable with operating a car or voting, but you try to add more regulation to those and suddenly "muh rights" becomes a more universal problem. Third, suppressors are literal car parts, it's the same tech as a muffler, for $20 you can buy a pack of two fuel reservoirs from Amazon that just need a single hole drilled to make it a suppressor. Suppressors don't stop the non-hearing safe crack of the bullet breaking the sound barrier (130dB is still loud, 140dB is the hearing safe limit). It doesn't stop the loud metal on metal sound of the bolt cycling (hit a pan with a hammer to simulate volume if you don't have a ar15 or ak to cycle); so tactically, it does not make you more stealthy or lethal. Its not easy to conceal after being shot either, suppressors get incredibly hot (you can see heat waves after a mag or two). Its purpose is to reduce muzzle flash to reduce people zeroing in on your location from 300 yards away during low light situations, to reduce concussion affecting the aim of those near you, and to keep short barrel rifles/pistols from flashbanging you with every shot indoors. For most civilians though, it helps protect hearing and keeps you from pissing off those near you at the range (shooting some guns is the equivalent of shouting in the ear of your bowling lane neighbor and bumping them lightly while they're trying to bowl). It's particularly annoying if your lane neighbor brought their kids. I have to wear ear plugs under my comtac hearing production for indoor ranges. But the main reason for civvies to want one is.... it's cool and makes a cool sound lol. BTW, this post isn't meant to be hostile, just informative (with a slight bias :P), and I don't mind if you disagree. Murica baby!

Hashima island for anyone who didn't know was a Japanese island which boomed because of a large coal deposit located on it with a population peak of almost 55 hundred people. The nickname for the island was "battleship" island and inevitably once the coal mine ran dry, they didn't have a source of income profitable enough to sustain them and unfortunately had to relocate the entire populace of the island back to the homeland. I recommend looking it up, the pictures are haunting like Chernobyl and you (if they're still doing it) can take tours of certain parts of the island where the infrastructure isn't completely in ruins or unstable.

No need to skirt around the fact that it's a common code among white supremacists. Don't give them that power. Anyone can use the code, it's not reserved for a particular sub-group or "rank" - and most of those associating themselves with the code are just passing as average people. Call them out directly. Staying silent plays into their cards. Some rando from a stream isn't going to come after you for calling them out as a WS. - from a German.

Yessir, .223 and 5.56 are indeed interchangable in real life... kinda sorta. The main difference being 5.56's ability to handle higher pressures than the .223 cases, as 5.56 is essentially NATO's military designation for .223. In reality, it's not considered safe to load 5.56 into a barrel chambered in .223, but it is considered safe to load .223 into a barrel chambered in 5.56. There is some debate on whether that causes a loss of accuracy, though I've never noticed that personally. Oof, that was explained like a minute later

.223 and 5.56 are not always interchangeable, but sometimes are. Almost any gun that fires one will fire the other, but .223 has a little less stank on it so a gun that fires 5.56 won’t always cycle correctly firing .223, and firing 5.56 from a gun that fires .223 may overgas and damage it over time.

The thing about experiencing emotions is, we don't have set defined emotions biologically we have feelings and biological responses and we call this arousal a specific emotion, this is why if you're really angry and really sad you might have trouble discriminating between the 2 because both arousal states are active at once, or they share the same arousal state and either/both emotions fit the feelinf

As a doll collector who frequently gets made fun of for my hobby I loved your Warhammer comparison. They’re such similar interests but one is treated lesser merely due to its association with femininity which I think is very telling of how our society views women and women’s interests more than any difference between these products. Like with the obsessive amounts of money some use to accessories their guns to be needlessly combat ready even though they’re just sitting on the shelf while mocking me for dropping money on accessorizing my dolls is frankly ridiculous especially when they’re both just hobbies and mine at least isn’t doesn’t have the potential to kill anyone (unless you count almost choking on lil plastic shoes which I have admittedly done in my younger years). Most modern gun collecting doesn’t particularly interest me personally as I feel like most the end goal of it is to make them as theoretically dangerous as possible which is, like, fine or whatever especially if you like to practice at gun ranges but I’d rather collect old af weapons that have some antiquity value inherent in them and like to study the history surrounding them rather than ever use them. At least with that you’re preserving pieces of history. But I guess that’s not where current weapon collecting communities are at nowadays which is a bit sad as it feels less about collecting and more to prove how ‘bad ass’ and ‘powerful’ you are for spending all your funds on a mini arsenal while completely removed from any combat zone.

"Do zombies have body heat?" They wouldn't.. and would. Cooling in the body is what greatly increases decomposition. So theoretically while standing still for long periods they would have none. But there has to be some sort of function which would indicate heat has to be generated to energize the body. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed and all that.. But by those rules eventually the zombies would have to break down and just.. die from lack of sustenance when the body breaks down. That means this exists well outside of natural laws already. Since PZ zombies don't break down and instead continue to walk around until handled I would say they don't have heat. They don't use enough energy to put off any and therefore wouldn't show up on thermal mappings.
@fataliecatalie899
@fataliecatalie899 2 жыл бұрын
Decomposition gives off heat- more specifically the bacteria doing the breaking down. In suitable conditions the corpses would be almost sweating and therefore give off a heat signature. Cold weather, though- no. Thermal would be great for summer-like conditions

.223 caliber and NATO 5.56mm are the same cartridge and projectile. The load, the amount of powder is the difference. 5.66mm uses more powder, resulting in more pressure. This is why you can shoot .223 from a gun chambered for 5.56mm, but not the other way around.

Watching this, oh man. You're the best company. Reminds me of me and my ol' best buddy, you might like him, we've all got that fascination with history/language and philosophy (and Warhammer). Great amounts of knowledge in some weird niche areas and a wonderful friendly attitude. I love it. Makes me nostalgic but also idk. You're a legend 🙏 Don't start that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. stream without me!! I'll figure out how to Twitch properly so I can sit in on that, no matter what time it pops up (tho ... it's best played at night...) XD

Coincidentally I'm painting Blood Angels marines as I watch this video, had no idea AA likes to paint and model. I've never played a 40k game but I like to paint them. I think you should give him a consideration too, there's a ton of guide for BA since they are the second most popular chapter. And they have a pretty ornate, baroque style of armor that is just so appealing to paint.
