We put the AMEL 50 through its paces with a novice sailer to see if they are all hype or an actual short-handed blue water sailboat. yachting-insider.com/

Excellently finished off yacht, perhaps the best finished off interior Ive seen on a 50ft yacht. Impressive to say the least! Well done on your video, you covered everything very well. Thank you! 😊

Merci pour le partage. J'adore l'accès au compartiment moteur. Congélateur sous le siège ! Configuration de la cabine parfaite. Couchettes pour les grands V berth kids. La cuisine est parfaite et la cabine du capitaine ❤️. This is my dream to learn my coastal navigation. Living in Florida I have access to amazing sailing. ONE DAY I’m a scratch off away.

No detail on its blue water credentials. What I saw was a fancy factory boat with a bolt on keel and spade rudders. On the surface, not exactly a good follow on from the Super Maramu legacy.

Is the keel bolt on? Is the mast keel stepped?

Such a beautiful boat, is there a smaller model?

Sorry no, 50ft or 60ft unless you look for an older second-hand one.

A view from the UK. As much as i would love to sail, there is one thing that stops me and for a visual example it is in the opening shots of this video. From 50secs in just watch the marina appear on the horizon. Almost every video i watch on youtube is the same, 'chocca-block' full marinas throughout Europe. Add to that mooring fees are astronomic if you can get a berth. I assume this is La Rochelle where Amel's are made yes? Is it true that the vast majority of berths are occupied by overseas owners keeping their 'pride and joy' moored the whole year for their one or two yearly holiday?

I like to see Amel variations of material! Aluminium? Carbon Fiber? Any Thought? Cheers!
@YachtingInsider11 ай бұрын
I don't think Amel will change their build material, but the Allures 51.9 is a good example and very close to the Amel 50. We did a sea trial this year and the video will be up-loded soon so make sure you have subscribed.

It seems to me that it sits rather high out of the water???? Not normal????
@SVTONICBoatWives8 ай бұрын
not really, the boat is able to take a lot of extra weight on board so for a test sail on an empty boat might give this impression.

@@martinlloyd7227so that prevents a blockage?
@martinlloyd72272 ай бұрын
@@brettharrison2237 it reduces the possibility enormously. two would do no better as if any contamination was in the fuel enough to block the first filter (assuming two in series) then the second wouldn't assist that situation. my comment is that a Racor 500 filter can pass hundreds of litres an hour, but the yacht is unlikely to use more than 4 l/hr. So even if it starts to get blocked, enough fuel should still be delivered to the engine's secondary filter.Then again, if the skipper is on the ball that could never happen.

the problem is the price

2 showstopper problems. 1. Bolt on hull! If you lose the hull in the middle of the ocean, boat will overturn and you ae basically toast. Plenty of documented cases of bolt on hulls falling off. Its ok if you just in coastal waters where possibility of help exists. In the middle of the Atlantic, or the Pacific...well the conclusion is obvious. 2. Unprotected blade rudders. Proper blue water cruisers either have full hulls with protected rudder, or alternatively a skeg protected hung rudder. Unprotected rudders are very vulnerable to anything hitting them...A container, A whale...grounding anything.....Lovely internal featurs..do NOT make up for basic construction safety and design.

These boats are so equipped, so sophisticated, so comfortable, that in the end, you stay at home in front of your 4K flat screen with a video of the open sea, plug in a fan and it's all the same! Boats for fat old pensioners who don't even have the strength to turn a winch handle anymore! ....

Why do all the new boats look alike? None of which are attractive. The interior on this one is cold, and without personality. A lot gadgets but not much soul. And the price? North of one million. Thanks but no thanks.

taste is subjective and personally this is one of the better interiors on a boat I've scene.

In the main it’s cost . The sailin companies who buy six or seven boats every tree yrs or so, basically want a one fits all solution. So this bit breaks or the fridge needs replacing etc, they are all plug an go. The problem comes, with us, people that want our, boat. An that’s where it gets realy expensive!! Hope this helps.❤❤❤👍👍🙏🙏🪬🪬🥃🥃💎💎🇬🇧🇬🇧⛵️⛵️
