Yes, this is an Amel trademak for ages as the solid lifelines. I think, the smartest, most elegant and conveniant boats ever made! I'm a huge fan of them!

I found this in one of the articles: "The pillarless windscreen offers a panoramic view and the cockpit is high enough to give vision to windward, even on a starboard tack. The mainsail can be seen through hatches in the doghouse roof, while the view of the jib luff is great on a starboard tack - straight up the slot - but more difficult on port as the forestay sags to leeward. There’s a helmsman’s chair behind the steering position but I found standing more comfortable as, when seated, my arms were at full stretch."

Also the channel "Sailing Aquarius", they use an Amel 50 Supermaramu 2000, in ketch flavour (it also existed in sloop version, I think), that is very clearly the antecessor of this modern 50, and still a very nice and appealing yatch

SV Delos deserve an Amel 50 for all the publicity they have given the company.

I love Amel sailboats because of Delos and its the only reason I checked this video out. Not gonna watch the whole thing though. Too “hip” for me.

Not possibe on a catamaran. Catamarans have a nice sitting area. Bedrooms (cabins) are always small, as is engine compartment.

Maybe Amel should just add 2 x Amas to the 50 and you have a super fast and best built tri in the world....

It is not just the boats but the people, especially Boris from Amel and Micah from Vicsail, (the Australian dealer) that were so welcoming when it comes to their boats even though they know I can't afford one.

André get real mate, he’s crossed three oceans and seen more of the planet than most people ever will. He keeps it real, showing the reality of cruiser life with all the work that goes with it. And he’s a long way from finished. 50,000nm plus in ten years is more than most people will cover in a lifetime on board a sailboat.

sail_to_dream_to_sail thank you, always nice to hear this. Boris invited me (even before this vide went viral) to come for a sail next time I am in France (which I will be in April) so I will definitely do another boat in action review then, stay tuned.

Great minds think alike, I asked the same question. I was told that the thickness and glue they use mean it will never leak. All within the philosophy of Amel - belts and suspenders is how Boris puts it.

How does the window impact applying antifouling, etc when it is required?

I wonder if that little window under the bed is resistant to heavy continual banging of the wife? lol Enough shagging in the bed and It could be a hazard. ;~O

@Attila Riedel Hey. Just saw your post. Ok I am not a boat expert but I can tell you what I know. The thing with the arctic is that the ice can literally tear through a fiberglass boat. Fiberglass is not designed to survive a hit by ice just the same way it would not survive a hit by a shipping container. I have no doubt that Amel is one of the best boat builders out there and its boat are literally top notch but taking it to the northern hemisphere is risky. If it hits ice hard enough, it might crack. And the waters in the northern hemisphere are not to be taken lightly. People do sail fiberglass boats but in really icy waters, steel or aluminium is preferred because it safer. I read somewhere that aluminium is stronger and lighter than steel. The Garcia 45 while not being such a looker is a great boat for the northern waters because it is strong and is specifically designed to go through ice. It is designed by Jimmy Cornell who took it through the North West passage a few years ago and got stuck in the ice several times and came out the other side in great shape. Garcia is also ridiculously luxurious for a sailing boat with its heating system and would be great in cold climates. I will put in a disclaimer now and tell you I have never actually sailed so I got this information from sailing journals and sailing forums which I frequent. I would advise you to do your own research on the topic before making such a huge decision as the boat will be your home for the next few years and I wish you all the best and safe travels.
