People misinterpret Inflation according to their expectations for Disinflation and Deflation. They have no idea what Permanently *Embedded* Inflation is. It's a boiled frog. You don't win, for the real economy, with inflation. All you do is end up transferring those much higher prices into debt, in the form of credit cards and BNPL and personal loans and HELOCs etc. Then, when you need them to spend into a declining economy later on, consumers are not only broke but also in hock. You essentially destroyed the future growth potential of both the consumer and the general economy, by pricing it all way too high and borrowing forward that fake 'growth' into the now. That doesn't end well.

I don't understand much about economics, but I do know that in 2019 my rent was $625/mo and my grocery bill was $35-40/wk. In 2024, I'm paying $1130 and $65 respectively. My income has definitely not doubled. I don't understand how this is sustainable, either for myself or for the US at large. Something is going to have to give.

_in 2019 my rent was $625/mo and my grocery bill was $35-40/_ _In 2024, I'm paying $1130 and $65 respectively._ - Are you living in the same premises in the same town you were living in five years ago? - What are you eating that your grocery bill for a month is only $65? Where do you get the rest of your food? Your numbers are a bit iffy, both in relation to the economy and in relation to each other - like there are additional facts around them you have not shared with us. While $1130/mo is still quite reasonable for 500 sq ft in most of America today, $625 in 2019 screams "elderly landlady never raised the rent, then died and her son raised rent to market rent." Which would would not be an inflation issue; from $625 to $1130 in five years is a rent increase of 12.5% _every year for those five years._ Even in my state of Georgia, the most landlord-friendly state in the country, 10% a year would maximum. As for groceries, you're not getting all your food for a month on $65 real cost now, and you weren't getting all your food for a month on $35 real cost in 2019. Maybe you're on some kind of food program so that _you're_ not paying for all your groceries, but somebody is. I'm pretty sure you're not renting a homestead.

No specific suggestions from me, but all I can say is that he's really likely to win. It's really not as difficult to smartly distribute your assets as many people assume. It requires a certain level of expertise, which ordinary investors lack, so a financial advisor usually comes in very handy. That is how people make huge profits in market key changers like elections.

In America everyone thinks retirees are rich. Most retirees cannot afford to live in upscale retirement communities. Many retirees are struggling. Many have to sell their homes. We live in North Central Florida, surrounded by 55+ retirement communities. Although SOME retirees are doing quite well on multiple pensions (military, police / fire, and SS), most are NOT. I had to close my business and file for bankruptcy in 2023. I now work for a company and barely earn enough to survive. Rent jumped from $985 to $1250 in just 6months. I'm literally working to pay bills. I have sacrificed everything too but inflation won't allow me to save. Having to file bankruptcy has caused a lot of issues. Living check to check just to pay for bare minimum necessities and I'm also living below means. Even the "below means" are expensive.

"Middle Class" was quantified by the Gilbert model in the 1990's. At the time, lower middle class was 50k-100k/year and upper middle class was 100k-200k/year. About 45% of people in the 1990's were considered to be in the middle class. "Working Class" was 25k-50k, with about 30% of the population being working class. Adjusting for inflation, to be lower middle class right now, you need 108k-216k/year, and upper middle class is 216k-432k/year. I highly doubt 45% of people are in this class today. I would imagine many people are not even considered working class, where they would be making between 54k-108k. They are most likely classified as "Working Poor" by the Gilbert model making 32k-54k.

Yes, "Americans" are dealing with inflation. Surely nowhere else, and surely not practically everywhere else Don't get me wrong, this is a great video of the principles. EXCELLENT. But many of y'all are making very confused political points

Yes. Inflation has been happening across the globe and people have been politicizing it, and blaming it in the current party in power.

Misleading as not everyone's housing costs have gone up. Rental costs have gone up. My housing costs are exactly the same as my mortgage is a locked in 30-year rate. As a matter of fact, with a locked in rate on my mortgage my housing costs as far as a % of my income has actually gone down. Just one more reason it is always wiser to buy than it is to rent! That's why listening to anyone, including minority mindset, telling you buying a house isn't a good idea is wrong, renters are consumers and at the mercy of the landlord, capitalist! Don't be a consumer, buy the home you live in with a fixed rate mortgage as low a rate as possible.

But to be honest Investments are nonsense. You can invest in a house and then it loses 25% of its value and then you're screwed. So no Investments are not the way to go

Yeah. When i was a bit younger i thought my brother might be able to help me in some way or at minimum provide some decent life advice. When he failed to mentor me in any capactity and did nothing to provide tips for making it thru this hard life and his only adivice is to keep working i got pissed off at him and hoesntly he had been mostly useless to me in life. He irritates me because when i went thru the hardest parts of my career he only made life harder. And he talks shit. This is why i do not talk to my brother anymore. Hes boring and quite honestly useless to me. Hes pushing me to figure it all out myself by force. Which is fine but at least stay out of my way then. Sad that i cant relate to him. He believes in slaving to this capitalist abusive system to earn cash. Thats my excuse now. I dont have time for no leisure because im slave to the dollar
