I got an upgrade on an Etihad flight from Tokyo to Abu Dhabi, completely changed my perception of flight. I had flown a similar route from Doha to Tokyo on Qatar's economy class and the difference was mind blowing.

what do you do to get an upgrade? so sick of economy, but buying business class... hurts.

you need luck :-) My first trip in business class was with Thai from Taipei to Bangkok i had asked for the price to upgrade but i could not upgrade the whole way to Europe in Taipei so i decided to wait til bangkok (Taipei to bangkok is only 3½ hours). Then i sat down worked a bit on my laptop until most people had checked in and got in line and the girl from the counter came up to me and asked if i had changed my mind on the upgrade and i said no. 2 minutes later i came to check in and i was told my plane was over booked and they had upgraded me to Busniess class for free :-) After that trip i have flown Business on KLM and EVA AIR between Bangkok and Taipei a couple of times. Also i have flown in Premium Economy between Denmark and Bangkok on Thai. On that route PE is flown in Business class cabin. Its to expensive to buy but when upgrading with miles it is a very good deal. Also flew BA and AA Busniness class last year and totally agree with Dennis on the quality.

oldfrend I mostly fly in business class (used to first) because of connections in the airlines. Honestly knowing people and being polite and nice can get you very far.

indyracingnut I work for AA and we are honestly making good customer centric changes. Most of them are in progress but they will change AA services matching Gulf carriers.

indyracingnut I flew on their a330-200 from CLT to MAD recently and the economy class had plenty of room for me (6'4") I can't speak for anything other that their a321 for domestic use, which has slightly less but still is tolerable. Honestly the worst airline I've flown with in terms of legroom has to be an Iberia a319/a320 (to and from)

AA is STILL the shittiest airline in the US in my book and I only book on them when they're the only game in the town I'm flying into.

@@2011blueman United is by far the worse of the major 3 unless you're in economy. Then it's AA.

Exactly, as an American I have to say that AA is the shittiest airline in business and first class in the US and I only fly them when no other options are available.

Tim British Airways is garbage IMO. Their seats are uncomfortable and the lack of space was disturbing during my 10 hour flight to the US.

Yeah haven't had to travel to the US as much and previous flights have been with QF or EK. Will be heading there more often in future - have a UA & LH combo coming up. The headset policy did seem a bit weird - probably helps with quicker aircraft turn around but it did seem a bit early to be collecting them.

DennisBunnik Travels unfortunately the former US airways aircraft leave much to be desired. The only one that’s actually up to a modern standard (decent WiFi, outlets, etc) is the A330 OUt of PHL.

Have it booked to fly late July across the Pacific - looking forward to it.

Incorrect. The seats are Cirrus by Zodiac Aerospace. Cathay does have a similar version but the seats certainly are not licensed by Cathay. American has ceased their agreement with Zodiac due to supply and quality issues....

I was on vacation in London 4 summers ago and I got sunburned! Then we went to Scotland for a week and it was sunny and in the 80s every day except one. The locals said the weather wasn't typical, and I hadn't brought sunscreen. But yes, it happens!
