Akita Inu, the true one - Japanese one actually lives between 11-15 years old. They are totally different breed in pretty much everything.

American Akitas were also bred with Japanese Tosas for heavier bone structure!

I also heard St. Bernard. I like the look of American Akitas that are thick structure of the St. Bernard head and Tosa. I Do Not like the American Akitas that show more of the german shepherd head and features of a long narrow muzzle sooo im very particular of the bloodlines and appearance

No. The Japanese Akita is far more gentle and isn’t so violent as the American Akita and insurance industry statistics bear this out

I've had both and would say the Japanese Akita Inu is more primal and aggressive than the American type. The American being larger is a lot more intimidating and would cause more damage. The Japanese type even with its smaller head has a very powerful bite which is the same force as the American around 400 psi which is pretty incredible.

How to tell the difference between a japanese akita and an American akita? Easy . One will shoot you and the other will grow tiny trees and do origami.

No american akita will watch family guy or simpsons while japanese will watch dragon ball z or evangelion thats the easiest way to tell them apart

American akita is not mix inu with german sheperd, is mixed inu with mastif tybetan and tosa inu

The tosa Inu is kind of in akitas but not the tosa itself tosas weren't created until akitas were no longer allowed as fight dogs the same dog used to develop the tosa was breed into akitas. The black and white of American akitas most likely came from the Sakhalin husky of Northern Japan Look at the ones that survived in Antarctica for a year on their own they look just like long coated American akitas

Very true I learned from my breeder that if the Akita doesn't have thick fur that there's no long coat in that line the breeder said that they try to use long coated line dogs to get the thicker fur
