Love Chimamanda. She’s an elevated individual who articulates her thoughts so clearly, so intelligently. She has brought such awareness about the African continent to the world via her incredible writings and her lectures/ public appearances. Thanks for this Demouchets.

I love the fact that Chimamanda highlighted the opportunity cost of great minds holding back due to the fear of being viciously criticized by "the left"... I think we should get back to listening to one another with kindness. Always assume that you didn't understand clearly and seek clarity instead of instinctively assuming the worst.

What Chimamanda said on 14.40 is very true. Most people, except those who are into history don’t really know how dire the lives of African Americans brought into the America were like in the 1800 up till now. African Americans have to do more in educating Africans, especially the youths on these matter. They can hold lectures in secondary schools, universities, cultural centres etc. it is not to encourage animosity, but make us all aware of history so it won’t continue to happen. Set up radio stations in Africa just for discussions with like minded people to bring awareness . We know more about holocaust than our own people history. George Floyd’s dead made me to research more and I was already a graduate for over 20 years. In Nigeria we learn that an average African Americans boy prefers to steal and go to prison. They don’t like to study…. No one tells you they struggle they went through to even be accepted into a classroom in the 1960s; and all that segregation. When you begin to dig down, you begin to find something else bubbling everywhere. There are thieves in every country, but you don’t see the amount of one race being incarcerated like African Americans, especially men. These everlasting injustice doesn’t allow African Americans to really know who they are as a people. The supremacists in America feed them with utter lies about Africa. I have seen posts and videos on social media that Africans don’t like Africans in diaspora, which is a total lie.

I felt it when you guys said you've opted out of reacting to certain happenings; if there's no conviction that some good can come of saying certain things, then perhaps it's best to leave them unsaid. We live in a day & time where/when people tend to want to say things just for the sake of saying them without the slightest bit of constructive intention(s). They be like, "well I said my piece!" Well you've only contributed your unwelcome quota to making the world worse off than you met it with division, sectionalism, sectarianism and sedition. You could easily feed off dark energy by bringing up such topics to drive your numbers up, as deep and violent controversy sells, but you choose not to. Kudos!

Oh my word... love how you think... there is always more than one side of history... Loved that you mentioned about Pocohontas ... These days with social media it somehow seems that we have gone back a few years... trolls and the ones who bully remind me of the ones who throw someone to the lions in a gladiator arena. And then you are get people who seem to be sheep and will jump on any comment and run with it even without fact... reminiscent of how Hitler and lots of dictators are able to gain followers... People have lost the ability to do critical thinking these days

Great points were highlighted here, but I believe it is important to remain as open minded about about political philosophy. Both the left and the right have their issues that open our awareness. It is true that it is ridiculous to band certain parts of history because the ancestors of the offenders might feel guilt or some responsibility. However, we just lived through several years where medical freedom was being denied many people and they were being coerced to receive an experimental therapy which has proven to be harmful to those who received it. Independent critical thinking is very important at this time in history. What we understand and believe will determine how we proceed to our future.

Political discourses is the key to stable politics. When they become diametrically opposed to one another that's not politics it's conflict. Once the dialogue stops so does finding a way that works. Once there, you flip-flop from one extreme to the other, when it should be each side grounds the other keeping the extremists and radicals under close scrutiny. From each extreme you then build social, racial, psychological and economic barriers between each other, and I think the USA is much further along with Canada and Britain not far behind them. Europe through the EU us doing precisely the same thing, look how many EU members are suffering riots and economic crisis, if anyone is reporting it!

💯 This is why we learned at an early age to limit political conversations with strangers in public. Some people are too immature to have conversations with people who think differently than they do.
