Such a lovely family. What Kenton had is 'Bún bò Huế ' (kind of...) . I am a bit surprised that they packed 'live' shrimp paste. That stuff is usually cooked when making the broth.

Oh you had the black eye peas tapioca dessert cold? It tastes much more delicious heated. This one is usual to be black eye peas, not red bean. (: Most of the che, is best when heated a little. Especially the corn, that won't taste good cold and goopy. It's interesting to say you had a salty taste though ~ usually it's sweet ! 10:56, I know you mentioned Kenton being half Viet. But I just wanted to point out that there is no jello or grass jelly in this drink. (Sam Bo Luong). That is real seaweed. Usually we have it with crushed ice, it is really refreshing. The drink contains: seaweed/kelp, lotus seeds, jujubes, longan, and pearl barley. 12:17, that thing that you thought was tripe is actually white fungus: it is not common to get in the Vietnamese version of the drink...but it is common to have that for the Chinese version. } more of a refreshing drink than dessert! (:

Oh and something else I just wanted to note is that some Vietnamese places make flan with an addition of coffee. For a less sweet vibe to it (: It's either you got a coffee one or they accidentally over did the sugar.

I love the spicy noodle soup (Bun Bo Hue). It's from the central region in VN known for spicy foods. It's not widely known as pho, but it's packed with so much flavor.

Hi Habiba & family, I agree that there's a lot going on with those desserts. It looks more like a meal than dessert...interesting, maybe it's healthy food. Kenton , I agree with your soap box speech & voting advice. That's the most that I've ever heard out of Kenton. I made a copy of my completed mail in ballot before dropping it off. The last dessert ingredients are for health benefits, not for taste. Anyways, Vietnamese do flans because of the French influence. Vietnamese put coffee instead of caramel like Mexican flan.

I enjoy Vietnamese food, however; we have never tried the dessert. Based on Kareem's response, I suspect it is an acquired taste. Absolutely, Kenton/ Habiba election and voting matters. We have already completed / submitted (voted) our ballot. In some state, like Florida, you must enclosed your ballot in the" secret form", then place in envelope. Failure to do the above your ballot will not be counted. As Kenton stated , do your due diligence and check to ensure that your ballot was received and processed. Just Vote !!!

A thorough cruise through several Vietnamese deserts. I am a fan of any refreshing creamy coconut desert. A salty desert? No. Habiba did any of the deserts remind you of Jamaican sea moss?
