Violet was the mother of Jenny and Screech. It's assumed they were separated after Violets death at the hands of Stevie. It's a tale of generational violence. You mentioned that this tale could be acted out on stage, which is something Ren has actually done. There is a video of him performing the trilogy on an outdoor stage for an audience in Brighton, England that is amazing. His kindness and caring for the crowd really shine through, as well as his ability to entertain. He started out as a street performer, which you can really see in how he has them in the palm of his hand.

Violet, a silent girl, with a violent past, met a violent man, who killed her, she gave birth to Jenny and Screech as she died. They went into care and were separated. Jenny, at 14, wearing high heels, walking the street 1000 times (child prostitute), and a silent victim, just like Violet. Screech became an aggressor like his father. So many layers. The first 2 tales were based on true story, as I understand it. Ren wrote Violets tale about 2 years later.

Ren was born in 1990, he is 33 now. The full version take away a clue that Violet tale came out in 2019, we know that Screech was 14 and Violet's tale ''rewind the time'' in two-zero-zero-five'' 2005 witch give the year that Screech was born, and we get at the end that Jenny was Screech twin sister... A sad story inspired by the knif violence that goes on in London street. Ren is a genius 🙂

Just some info.. Ren became 33 this year. Ren came up with the original tale of "Jenny" after reading an article in a news paper about the murder of a prostitute in London by a young lad, someone commented in the article "It's such a shame", which is why it is so prominent in the song. Violet died in 2005, the tale of "Jenny" was released in 2019, which is why Screech and Jenny are 14 years old n the song. Jenny was 14 years old and walking the streets of London in high heels indicating she was a "working" girl ("she'd walked these streets 1000 times before"). Screech got his nickname from being "quick on his feet", "screech" being the sound trainers make as you dodge and run on an indoor training court. "The blade that could slice concrete" was actually a line in a tv advertisement in the 80's/90's IIRC on late night shopping channels. When Screech tries to meet up with his girlfriend and she tells him she's busy, she was busy (cough cough) being with Patrick (Ren confirmed this) After the birth Jenny and Screech would probably have been separated and gone into foster care or an orphanage, they would never have known each other or met until that fateful night when they meet in an alleyway. The tales are a generational story of abuse and the victims of abuse, Jenny much like her mother kept quiet and accepted her fate in silence and resignation, Screech was reactionary and quick to anger just like his father. What many people fail to understand is that Screech although the "obvious" bad guy in the tales, he was only 14, he had been brought up in foster care or an orphanage, he was obviously not being given the help/support/discipline he needed at that age in that situation, and from the moment he fatefully turned the corner and met Jenny face to face everything he did was fear and adrenaline fueled reactions to a situation that rapidly spiralled out of his control... Suffice to say, Screech was the bad guy, but he was also a victim as well, and I think that, that is the whole point of the story Ren tries to get across "It's such a shame".

As for the story, yes, Violet was both Jenny and Screech's mother. Since all characters (but Richard the cop) are "in the system" it is assumed Jenny and Screech never knew each other but shared the same parents. A tragedy born of a tragedy, with a poetic sort of miracle all in one. Violet had twins. A girl named Jenny and a boy called Screech. What a masterpiece of emotions the “tales” are, there are a lot of hidden Easter eggs in the story, I’ve done a playlist on my YT about all the main characters in these tales and how it’s all interconnected, but like all great art it’s up to the individual to interpret it anyway they wish, no right or wrong answer.

REN is 34 in March. Where he says 2005 in Violets tale it refers to the year 2005. Some Americans interpret it as a zip code it’s not.

You have been so close to the solution but Ren tells the story in a way that it is hard to catch the final twist at the first time. But you still enjoyed, great reaction! btw there is an outdoor stage performance of The Tales by Ren filmed with a 360° cam. It is very worth watching, modern theatre.

They were twins ! Born into violence where kids would not go to the farther or grandparents but separated and adopted and raised local. Growing up on the streets so to speak Jenny appears to be a street walker and Screech just a punk living on the streets of London .Ren has many many very good songs and stories. Explore his catalog ! Thanx for your reaction. I felt with you in 'Violets Tale'. I could see how you were suffering. The trilogy is a hard one. Maybe you do some lighter songs of Ren next. Like 'It's Alright', '1990s' or 'Satellite Girl'. Or some of the great stuff with his band 'The Big Push'.

Two twins lay side-by-side, One named Jenny, one named Screech. They cycle of violence can follow people even when they don't know or never met the first part of the cycle. Violet had the twins, Jenny and Screech, after she passed. The father Most likely going to jail for murder. The children placed into separate "foster care" and never meeting but still were stuck in the 'cycle of violence'

Again masterfully done live one shot per story. They were released in 2019 both Jenny and Screech were 14 their mother Violet died on the delivery table. The twins grew up not know one another and Jenny's intuition could also refer to the twins'sense. Truely brilliant storytelling.

Every couple of months I seem to end up watching a string of new Ren reactions.... After watching you for the first time ith chalk outlines I knew you would also react to this....NGL I didn't want (I'm writing this before I press play) because I know what's coming and it gets me every time, I cry and the hairs (what's left!) Always are up on the back of my neck and arms. And I know, you will go and check on your kids and hug them. Mystro, the bard...as you were, encore. Edit Ok, you hadn't pick up on the nuance that the Violet gave birth to twins. Because of background, they would have ended up in CPS and separated. They never knew each other or that they were twin siblings. Also you rightly said weed would not make you violent but in the UK kids/teens prefer skunk! Not the lapew type😂 but it has a higher concentration of the hallucinogenic compound that unfortunately dose cause a higher rate of psychiatric behaviour, paranoia and violent outburst....😢

Worth mentioning in your comment about weed, that here in the UK its illegal and unregilated. The stuff we get on the streets is super high in THC and has a very low CBD count. Its purely a psychoactant. As a former weed smoker of about 10 years i can say it well and truly f**ked my life up with extreme paranoia and anxiety but left me feeling like it was the only thing keeping me sane. Of course its not always the case and not everyone has these types of reactions, but it'll be very different to the state controlled stuff available in the US. Ren himself is a very heavy weed smoker so I doubt he would have put in a line about it being the blame for Screeches problems - the end of the song pretty much confirms he was just a kid who grew up with no family (as his mum died and his dad, assumingly went to prison for killing his mum) so would have been passed around the fostering system. He also appears to have inherited his dads traits for violence and the environment he grew up in probably only nurtered that

Jenny's tale was released 5 yrs ago screech the following year and Violet 2 years later. You can see Ren changed a bit in that time. I think these years are right, but there was time between when yhey were filmed. Jenny and Screech were twins and Violet was their mother.

'Patrick doesn't want to be an accomplice'. Patrick might have been with Screech's girlfriend. Maybe that's why he didn't answer and she said she was busy.

I don't know if weed is different over there but it can effect people in different ways .. some people get the giggles .. some get paranoid .. some get crazy. Screech was a baden anyway and weed just tipped him over the edge. Nice reaction 😊

Jenny and James (Screech) were obviously separated in the care system. Jenny had a lot of the same characteristics as her mother and even her grandmother. Screech had many of the same characteristics as his father and grandfather. If you notice, Violet and Jenny are quiet. The only voices you hear in the song are male, Screech and Stevie, apart from just before Jenny dies and she's pleady with the doctor to save her baby. (she obviously doesn't know that she's expecting twins). Also... Screech's friend, Patrick wasn't at home, late at night and Screech's girlfriend was "busy". Connect the dots. Jenny was an underage prostitute, having walked those streets a thousand times and wanting to escape.

Not sure about the UK but here "Ganja" is weak weed usually laced with something else. There are medical conditions, schizophrenia for example where cannabis THC will cause a psychotic episode. Most people do not have these reactions.

SO much to take in with this brilliant Shakespearean tragedy. I get frustrated with some reactions when it's missed how he describes Jenny....why would a 14 year old be walking the same street a 1000 times, in high heel shoes? Almost no one seems to catch that. Also, for "Screech's Tale", it seems that almost no one catches that Screech's girlfriend and his friend Patrick, happen to be "busy", or not available, at the same time. Consider why. Maybe they were together? Patrick wasn't home...was he with Screech's girl at her place and that's why she was "busy"? It adds a whole other layer to the story. Also consider that Jenny and Screech were born side by side, and essentially died side by side, one street apart. Born on the same day (2005), died on the same day (2019). An entire family, mother and twins that never knew each other, wiped out by a cycle of violence. An abused mother, a 14 year old prostitute, and a 14 year old thug/murderer. There's sheer brilliance in the line "please let my baby stay alive"....at this point you don't yet know that it's twins, but "baby" followed by "stay" can also be read as "babies" because the S in "stay" isn't necessarily separate from "baby". Say it out loud- you'll understand what I mean. Such a clever way to hide the twist reveal while still giving it up at the same time...if you can catch it. Brilliant.Powerful stuff. In "Violet's Tale", the way he uses the acoustics of his environment to accentuate the song is absolute brilliance too....and btw, Ren is self taught on the guitar. Just one of many instruments he plays including drums, bass, & piano.The man is truly special. A prodigy. From what I understand, he wrote the first 2 songs after reading an article about a very young man murdering a young woman in London, he didn't write "Violet's Tale" until a few years later and that one was of his own making. He said that there are 2 songs so far that he wrote, that he knew in his gut were special. "Hi Ren" (of course) and "Violet's Tale". (He was right on both counts imo.)

Ren went years misdiagnosed with depression bi polar chronic fatigue syndrome he had recording deal with Sony in 2010 why working on his album he got sick and couldn't finish it so they parted ways he moved back to Wales he would become so sick that he became bedridden for up 23 hours a day he has had 2 stem cell transplants done the meds they had him on caused him to have psychosis he got PTSD too but not from meds it would take years before he get the right diagnosis he has Lyme disease he went so long misdiagnosed that he has Brain damage Organ damage Joint damage he in Canada right now getting treatment he has to have IV 5 days a week they put this thing on his head that help open path ways in his brain he take hand full meds 2 times a day he can only eat like 2 kinds of beef and few Vegetables because the autoimmune causes his body to have allergic reaction to just about everything he eats Ren play guitar drum bass piano he produces his own music mixes his own beats beatboxes sing and can rap he also has ADHD too he does most of his music live and in one take
