Agree! I used to watch Marina’s channel but never paid much attention because I am c1 and she never taught me anything new, well some things she did, which apparently!!! were some of the many mistakes she makes on a regular basis! 🤯 I randomly saw this channel last night and it blew my mind! When you guys go through the things she says, the way she pronounces certain words, and mixes the accents in her speech, oh, and she constantly makes the most basic grammar mistakes is honestly shocking! Well, shocking in a way that is inappropriate for someone claiming to be a teacher of the American English! She should seriously be ashamed of the quality of her content, courses and whatever she always sells to people. I also saw one of her videos on the TOEFL’s speech test, and immediately thought that this just can’t be real, that a “teacher” shows “this” as an example of the proper answer to the given test! She should be prohibited to teach others how to speak English as a native speaker ..

When I listen to all these unskilled so-called "teachers" earning money through other people who trust them, I don't know what to say...Seriously, I'm an English teacher myself, not a native speaker, I surely have an accent myself but even I do pronounce these words correctly and don't open any KZfaq account. I think the only one thing I could learn from Marina &Co is how not to underestimate myself and keep enjoying Kevin&Lisa's educational videos!❤

And Marina’s emotions are often over the top and seem so exaggerated and even fake at times. She thinks if she speaks super fast her basic mistakes won’t be as noticeable and she will sound more native, which is wrong, and she seems like hyperactive and all over the place. Good blogger perhaps, bad “teacher”. But what’s most important is that her channel and courses do not help English learners, quite the opposite.

Someone I know went to an American school when he was 14, then college and 2 more schools thereafter. He is 38 today and still has a very subtle accent. His sister was 6 when she went to school, so no accent of course. So if you start learning Language in your adulthood, you will always have an accent even if you pronounce every word correctly. These "teachers" should never claim they teach you how to speak as a native speaker-it's impossible.

The problem with russian speaking teachers is that people from Russia have a very thick accent and when some of them are able to stand out with their "pure american" pronunciation they get too hyped up and think they're experts. I remember when I went to Russia and started speaking English they were all blown away by my pronunciation and hired me to teach English although my grammar was very poor.

@MaryJones-fs4wf
@MaryJones-fs4wf 9 ай бұрын
Your question is rather weird. What do you want to achieve, if anything, by reading books? Textbooks? science fiction books? how to paint your walls books? and it is "WOULD" not WILL. I recommend you study English from English language textbooks and take "Focus on pronunciation" classes at your local community college. I can recommend you one digital book though, it is "all 12 English tenses" by Arnel (Arnel's everyday English). You can find it on her channel under the "store" tab. English tenses is very difficult to master. And keep listening to Kevin and Lisa.
