Fun fact about the lead singer, Chino. He does many strange sounds with his voice and never uses effects to alter the sound. You reacted to this the way a typical rock fan would. You are a rock fan, man. Keep up the great content, this was a fun one.

Abe Cunningham, the drummer, is one nasty, nasty boy. No other drummer out there with his groove and his swagger. One of a kind drummer. If you want to hear some of Chino's insane vocal lines I recommend the song Hexagram. It's the sounds you hear at the end of this song but like x10. R.I.P Chi Cheng!

Yea Abe has some signature things he does a lot that just add bits and pieces to it. The tom rolls, the double snare hits. His drums always sound great too. Especially his snare. His playing always compliments the song in the best of ways

Deftones is one of my favorite bands ever. You being a hip hop guy, you'll like deftones i think. Anything from the "around the fur" album is amazing. Same with "white pony". I got into them back in the late 90s and still love them. Seen them live many times. So good

Oh God PLEASE go down the Deftones rabbit hole. Chino is in my top 3 singers of all time if not number one. He and the deftones have TONS of great music that is all over the place. They have tons of hip hop influence in their sound and Chino even raps at times throughout the discography. He's done a bunch of badass features on other people's albums as well. Love your videos bro. Keep up the great work.🤘

Love to see you getting into some more of the NuMetal stuff from our teenage years! The 90s was the best era for music from all genres!! Tool, Korn, Deftones, and Marilyn Manson were huge influences when I was a teen. Love to see it!

Loved watching you react to Deftones, especially towards the end when Chino makes those screeching noises 😂, I always interpreted that as the tyres screeching as he leaves town (probably wrong though). Been listening to Deftones since HS back in the late 90s. Listening to their music on repeat is how I learned to play drums. Still couldn't tell you all of the lyrics. Haha. Thanks for putting this reaction out there. Great job

My introduction to Deftones was my own summer when I was in highschool back in the 90s and I was hooked instantly. And I understood it because that's mostly what I listened to back then. Kinda like I couldn't understand fast rap for years. I listened to artist like pac and nas. But Twista and bone had me at a loss till I listened to it more then now I ran hear damn near every word off top.

theyre fans of new wave groups like depeche mode and duran duran. idk if u know them but they they each have songs like never let me down again about driving and chauffeur is another song that deftones have even covered about driving. as much as theyre a “metal” band he has wide influences from hip hop and sade to goth music and punk bands thats a big reason why i like them

Loved how you completely vibed to the 2 drops of effing energy and you didn't bang your head cos it was your first time! hahaha, but I could see you doing it! The great thing about music is that songs mean to you whatever they do even differently to the meaning of the author. I have played this song so many times in these 20 years, on my way back home from work, full volume, just because I was just done with my shitty job, or wanted to get away, or hated my ex or... several different reasons.... And yes the screaming noisy end is chinos voice, he is known for making these noises often in live concerts.... he also trashes a lot of mics during a show cuz he swings and slams them. He uses wired mics, cuz he always use the wire around his arm and hands😊

I've been a fan of Deftones since the 90's and even have the title of one of their songs tattooed on my back (Dai the Flu). This was the first song I heard from them and they are next to Aerosmith for my favorite band of all time. Chino is the best at eliciting such an emotional response from listeners, and he's even better live. I always intepreted this song is about the angst about the place you feel stuck in. As a teenager growing up in a rural small town, I certainly didn't feel at home there. Now at 39, I understand it even more. Ironically, I am now married to my high school go-to guy, and he loves to drive long distances on vacations. 😂

So this is the radio version, they cut out the last 2mins which keeps on cruising. Check our Digital Bath and Change (In the House of Flies). Regarding the Deftones and Chino in particular, he is a poet. He doesn't just right lyrics, he writes poems which are studied in university's and colleges around the world. And yes, that was his voice in the last section. He does some crazy ass vocal screeches like a demon.
