Son Sung Deuk, their first choreographer, built this amazing team out of two people who'd been dancing since Childhood (Jimin and Hobi), an Actual Child (Jungkook), two rappers (Namjoon and Yoongi), and the "Visual", literally hired for his looks and sometimes as coordinated as an Excited Toddler who's genetically unable to gain muscle mass easily (Jin). Those last 3 did hours and hours of extra training, before and after grueling weeks with their brothers. BTS is not just 7 humans, but an organism consisting of Hundreds of Supporting Dancers, Staff, Make-up Artists, Graphic Designers, and Comedians. Bang PD truly built an Empire from Scratch 💜

You're definitely right about their acting while dancing. A big part of their impact in their performances is that they really push the emotions of the songs out toward the audience and the choreographers they pick always have a narrative in the music when the music needs it. For this dance, they do a lot of movements that are similar to a marionette. The idea is that the love is so fake that their actions aren't truly their own and they are being pupeteered so they are like dolls on strings being controlled. As graceful as the movements are sometimes, they can be rough and sharp too. The push and pull of a corrupted love.

Gotta say your reactions are spot on. Sometimes you have to wonder if reactors are really dancers, directors or producers b/c there is no detail or detail outside of the technical. Your reactions come from pure blood, sweat & tears of having to get people to do what they need to do & appreciation of "everybody is where they need to be" & hand gestures not covering faces. SUGA has an interview talk show on YT where he invites a guest to drink, eat, and discuss. In Hoshi's episode (main dancer for Seventeen) he jokes that he blames BTS because they made everyone take things to the next NEXT level when they started appearing on award show stages. There were always big productions at MMA and MAMA. But the backup dancers were there mainly for hype. BTS brought them (a LOT of them) into the foreground, made them part of the story being told with the choreo. They changed everything.

Jimin has said it’s one of their hardest dances because of the stamina it takes to get through it. My personal favorite live performance of this is at the MMAs (award show). A lot of these choreo are for live shows…..not necessarily the MV…..so it is always more detailed since they have none of the production they get in videos. They have to fill the stage with their performance….no story edits…so they are really choreo heavy!

Loving your reactions 💜 sometimes the simplest moves are the hardest because they have to be near perfect. No room for mistakes. They would show instantly. They are incredibly talented.

MVs are great but dance practices are a must. The MV shows snippets of dance while acting to tell the story. Dance practices are how they preform the same song live. Rarely do you see the whole dance in a MV. Even "Save me" which has the whole dance, because of filming angles you don't see everyone through out the performance.

I don’t know if you are aware, but their choreography is not just dope moves. All their choreography is amazing visual storytelling. Moves are based on lyrics or themes in the songs. This song, for instance, is about being fake or lying to and about yourself. So the dance is marionette/puppet based. You can see many moves that are stilted, like starting and stopping, or dropping and rising like they are on strings, or their arms held out like marionettes. There are other storytelling moves as well, like there is a repeated Hear/See/Speak No evil move where they mime covering ears, eyes and mouth. There is another where they make a mask of their hand on their face. Both are meant to represent being false, or telling lies. Also, at the end when Jin and Jungkook have their hands raised, it’s over a line about an impossible flower. Etc. Here is a live performance of Fake Love with a dance break where you can really see the puppet themes expressed. i love how ya sing along with the song!!! its hard not to. the fact that jin had 0 background w/ dancing and singing, ppl used to clown him saying he was the weak link but now he's keeping up w/ the rest of the group shows his dedication and the members do not let that go unnoticed. they knew he had it in him.
