I believe that you would have like 90's eurodance genre. It was a HUGE thing in the mid/late 90's in Europe, when I lived my teenage years. There were few of them on the list, such as "Barbie Girl" by a Danish group "Aqua"and "Cotton Eye Joe" by Swedish eurodance group called "Rednex". Oh, Ace of Base could be considered also into that genre, being the very first ones pop up into the charts.

It was an awesome decade to be young in the UK, so many great Indie/rock/alt bands and then the whole clubbing/rave scene, it was incredible really, I was an 80's Indie kid coming into the decade and it took a bit of arm twisting from my friends to get me into the clubbing scene, but when bands like The Prodigy came along I think even the most hardened rock kids started getting into the clubbing scene too, I even ended up being a podium dancer for a while! 🤣There was something for everyone, this video just concentrates on the US mainstream acts of the day though, which of course there's nothing wrong with, it just skips a lot out.

Yes, "Killing Me Softly with His Song" was originally from the 1970s, most notably by Roberta Flack. "Candle in the Wind" really stands out here as would seem so out of place if you're too young to remember Princess Diana's funeral.

Gotta say, 90's were probably the peak of music.. so much good stuff in pretty much every genre and live music was everywhere. It seems to have jumped off a cliff in recent years.. not only 90% of charts being trash but also so few local bands giging or touring in comparison. Video may have killed the radio star but yt or Spotify killed local bands.

Madonna is not overrated lol she’s sold over 200 million albums. You said that last video and liked 4 of her songs lol. If you love Whitney you should love Mariah, yes she’s become a big diva but you can’t deny that she’s one of the greatest singers of all time and she owned the 90’s.

I agree with him about both Madonna and Whitney over Mariah. I still like Some of Madonna's music but it's her mid 80's stuff I like best. I like Marriah's earlier music but for me her whistle note stuff is overdone. If she used that less Of probably appreciate it more. I do like her original Christmas album though. Please remember I'm just sharing my opinion as is he. It may not be the majority opinion but having a different opinion is allowed.

I agree with you about the 90's music. I didn't think much of the stuff in the late 90s. In 1991 I was 18 (19 in December) and 2 weeks before Freddie Mercury died I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis so not a great year. My first symptom was losing my vision in the left eye in May. The vision did eventually return but it was not perfect. I have always loved 80s music.

There's a reason you have rated so many late 90s songs as ten out of ten. It's because you grew up with them and you are familiar with them. For the rest of us not so many tens out of ten there, but those were ones you heard when you were young (edit: youngER. You're still very young).

The version of Toni Braxton - Un-Break My Heart was the original, but you seem to like dance music and there was a dance mix version of this song that had everyone on the dance floor dancing all the time back then. It was Toni Braxton - Un-Break My Heart (Soul Hex Anthem Vocal). Here is a link to it on KZfaq and I'm not asking for a reaction. This is for your own enjoyment. Hey Connor, love watching you getting down to these music reactions, we get to see the fun side of you. Not a huge fan of the 90's music, especially those annoying R & B groups we were subjected to, it felt a lot like torture. Their whole look and over the top facial expressions at times read like they were straining themselves on the toilet!! Despite that there are a handful of good & memorable songs. Couldn't stand those talentless Spice Girls or that God awful All Saints, but each to their own. You should consider making a separate channel for music reactions. At least you can react to the songs from start to finish instead of these compilations where you just get a few seconds, hardly enough time to get a taste of a song.. Really enjoy these music reactions Connor....keep them coming buddy, Lots of Love, have a Great Weekend!!....PS. You should consider doing a reaction to the iconic Queen Live Aid Performance, tons of other reactors have done so, would love to see that, I'm sure loads of others would too. Take Care.

Ice Ice Baby is a sample from David Bowie "Lets dance" from the 80s list. It seemed like you did not recognized the original. There are way more versions of older songs in this chart of the 90s than earlier decades. Killing me softly and Every breath you take have both been done in the 90s again but with what i think is Hip Hop groups. You recognize songs that are quite alien to me and vice versa. Europe and America has not the same charts.

It's nice to see that the 90's were not as bad as I thought they were. A fee gems here.. Tears in Heaven was one of the best. Ice ice baby owes everything to Queen. Bit of trivia. Without You was originally sung by 70s group Badfinger, a Swansea Group. They were way ahead of their time, their story is a sad one, swindled by their manager 2 of them took their own lives. Neillson saw the track on an album and wanted to record it. The rest is history. Gangsters Paradise is very good, but owes itself to Stevie Wonders Pasttime Paradise. Kiss from a Rose, one of my favourites. Shania Twain was one of my favourites from that era. Still not keen on the 90's but I'll concede some good music came out of it. Like you I'm attached to the era I was born so 60s and 70s.

Fyi the band for August 93 UB40, were named after the adminstrative code for the Unemployment Benefit form. Their music wasn't especially political but their band name is. They first became big in the 80s when unemployment was very big problem. Especially for young school leavers trying to find work.

Their early stuff was quite political. They'd lost their "edge" by the 90s though.

Mr. Big is a nice song. I remember we were on vacation in Portugal and it was the first time I saw MTV. Was one of the songs they played all the time😅. I prefer It's all coming back to me by Meatloaf and Marion Raven rather than by Celine Dion. Some good songs, but there's nothing like the 80s!

Whitney! The best voice probably in recorded history. Closely followed by Karen Carpenter! Also, I laughed at you coming into the world with ‘Mr Vain’ 😉😛

while i'm not a fan of this video channel TOPCULTURE, they did pick some awesome songs this time around. Roxette was a fave and would probably still be with us, except Marie passed away several years ago. They could have left most of Mariah Carey's out as she did nothing but copy other artists. UB40 did have other songs that were more original than the one given.

@@JungleTunes94 It's a mix-up of lots international charts. But even if was UK-only, I don't think Oasis would ever have the biggest song of a month. It's just possible that Some Might Say would edge out Robson & Jerome's Unchained Melody for May 1995 but I think Robson & Jerome would probably win it.

@@140cabins If it was on raw sales then maybe which is an absolute travesty. I was thinking of Dont look back in anger, not sure what that was up against?. There would have definitely been a lot more Spice Girls im sure also

Sorry, I personally think that your brothers Sadeness by Enigma trumps your Mr Vain by Culture Beat. Gregorian chanting to a beat was awesome!
