I have been to the Namib Desert - it's foggy nearly all the time near the coast. But yes, the desert goes right to the sea.

I think you've seen all the GT stuff, they don't have enough content like Top Gear. The problems with your wheel solution are. One, you can't really put wires going from a wheel to anywhere else to pull them in and out, this is why we have winter socks for tires. Two, the air in the tires would find holes to deflate.

Football boots have studs. James bond has already thought of it, the Aston Martin Vanquish from Die Another Day had studs in the tyres for when it was in Iceland.

There are lots of places where desert or at least vast sandy plains or dunes go straight to the sea. Like the Sahara does in many places, or the dunes in South West France, or the dunes on Gran Canaria, the Peruvian coast also has a lot of those places.

It should be noted that apart from Italy there isn't a single nation in Europe where streets are that small and traffic is allowed. We mainly just close it off to cars when it is that small. It's only Italy and Italy isn't "Europe". In fact, they're nuts. I mean their country is great, the people are good and their cars are fantastic but their government is ... I don't know how to describe it without getting banned. I mean you can say fuck and shit on here but the language I'd use to describe the Italian government is far harsher than that. Kuksugande rövhål från helvetets katakomber. Is a way perhaps because that's not translatable into any other language and KZfaq doesn't understand Swedish. That they allow traffic there... it's insane, it's like if the Irish would allow you to drive around on the Hill Of Tara (not that you could, but still).
