Obviously all of these cases are serious, but the Jill Dando murder really rocked the country. Anyone who can remember the mid 90's will tell you she was a household name in the UK, one of those TV presenters who seemed to be hosting everything. Crazy that her murder still hasn't been properly put to rest.

Don’t open the door after 8pm is a very American thing. In the last 10 years there have been fewer than 20 gunshot murders in Scotland. We only have around 50-60 murders a year anyway, and they’re mostly (but not all) young men stabbing each other in a brawl. That murder in Nairn was an outlier.

Jill Dando was loved by everyone but she was our local girl and was adored by the whole community. She made everyone so proud. We're all waiting for the day the truth comes out in the hopes that her family can finally get the answers they need

Billie Jo Jenkins was actually murdered in Hastings not Hampshire and I still think her foster dad was involved.

Jill Dando presented many programs, including Crimewatch a TV show that sought to catch criminals using TV appeals. There are rumours that she was murdered by criminals from a gang she upset or even by Serbian terrorists. The lady on the train, was going through south east London, they stop on a very regular basis every 5 minutes or so. The design of the train called “slam-door” meant that each carriage was divided into several small compartments with 2 sets of seats opposite each other. There was no way to travel between these compartments and sound didn’t travel well between them. A person could have got on at one stop murdered her and got off at the next without anyone else seeing it.

The issue of the lady on the train, the problem was that the train had separate compartments, with no connecting corridors, so even if she screamed out no-one would be able to see what ws happening till the next station. And when the train did arrive at the station the murderer would have been able to leg it before anyone found the body in the compartment. In the case of the Private Investigtor found dead in the pub carpark, it isn't just that the police were sloppy in their investigation. The allegations were that there was actual corruption because of the pre-existing relationship between the investigating police and the PI firm.

JT, Harold Shipman WAS caught, tried, convicted and jailed. He hanged himself in prison. So these "10" isn't accurate, and the foster-father/daughter lived in East Sussex in my hometown.

11:26 the prosecution case against Barry George was always very weak (even by the prosecution’s own admission). The whole case was based on one tiny particle of powder, which was interpreted as gunpowder residue. When other experts showed that it could have been different types of powder, the whole case collapsed. I think that most people were expecting him to be found Not Guilty at the original trial, and there were gasps in court when he was convicted.

I lived in Fulham for many years and Suzy Lamplugh went missing from Shorrolds Road - which I could see from my sitting room window. When Kipper was arrested I recognised him as the sleaze who used to chat women up (my friend & I included - ugh) in a local wine bar. To this day I feel he was responsible. I moved to Bishop's Park, Fulham, a few years later & Jill Dando was living next door to my doctor in Wardo Avenue (3 minutes away). I used to see Barry George in the corner shop from time to time but I (& my neighbours) always felt he was innocent. I later moved to Shepherd's Bush which was more edgy, but where nothing like this has happened I'm thankful to say. I simply can't imagine the agony of the victim's loved ones.

When Jill Dando died I was at school and heard it on the radio. I announced it to my friends and laughed cause it seemed so strange. Why would someone like her be murdered? She was sweet, innocent and the last person to be involved in anything shady....and yes they did tell me off for laughing.

Sadly every country has cases like this, where either no-one is ever arrested or someone is convicted but a lot of doubt remains. I can think of a couple of "causes celebres" with people currently in jail where there's some serious doubts over their convictions, and several notable unsolved murders - and that's here in the small and relatively safe country of New Zealand.

I went to see Harold Shipman when I was a kid cos I had lumps on the back of my tongue. He was horrible - he said to my mum "Your son just has overgrown taste buds,...it's normal...like you have overgrown breasts, he has overgrown taste buds". Luckily we never went back to him after that!

We no longer have the death sentence in the UK so those wrongly imprisoned for the crime of murder at least survived with their lives, there was a case of murder many years ago where a man called Timothy Evans was found guilty of killing his wife and hung. A few years later the actual killer was found and also executed for the crime .I often wonder how many innocent people in certain states in the USA have been wrongly convicted and executed ?.

The Danial Morgan case is very interesting. Their is an amazing podcast on it. In short, police officers were almost certainly involved, working with criminals. Other police cover for them. Other police covered for those police.

I have a serial killer in my family tree. She is the first known UK female serial killer from the 1800s called Mary Ann Cotton. She killed around 21 people including the majority of her own children. I also have another female killer in the family tree too called Jane jameson, she killed her mother with a fire poker and was the last female to be hanged in newcastle upon tyne. 20, 000 people turned up to watch her travelling to it as well as the hanging. It was interesting looking into the rumors that was passed down for generations and actually finding them on the census when tracing the family trees of my grandparents.

I remember the 1 o'clock news on the day Jill Dando was murdered. It's wasn't something we were used to hearing about, like something out of a film. The whole country was in shock.

Ironically I used to know a guy in Wolverhampton who tried to place a bet that Jill Dando would be the next famous person to die only a week before the event. I only knew him Evil Pete and he was a nob end. Evil Pete was later part of a murder investigation involving a local reclusive guy who got beaten with a hammer and had his throat cut and got off because his friend who I only knew as Sparky the cocky bellend from the pub turned out to be the killer. That was more than 20 years ago now.

My Dad was a London black taxi driver. He was shot in the neck in 1976 when I was 3 and my Brother was 8 years old. He died around 4 times in the hospital and was there for about a year. Thankfully he pulled through and turns 80 next year. The guys that shot him were never found 😡

Prisons are full of people who didn't do it.... just ask any prisoner. Seriously though in any system of justice there are always going to be errors and innocent people convicted. I have the unfortunate distinction of not only knowing the victim of a serial killer but I actually knew the serial killer as well, they never knew each other though.

With the Jenkins murder there was an odd job man/vagrant in the picture too, unfortunately I can't remember anything else, it's a very interesting case though, there's a question about the foster father and a trip to a DIY store, worth a proper look into it. These kinds of crime are mercifully rare in the UK, crime rates are much lower than in the USA.

I mind well the George Murdoch murder, I was still living in Aberdeen at the time. I hadn't realised they still haven't found his killer 40 years on 😥 That person would be in their mid 60s by now, so even if you were caught it would hardly be much of a punishment even if he were jailed for life. How can these people live with themselves and live with lying to their families. How many of them have gone on to kill again?!

With the Suzy lamplugh case . My ex husbands , uncle was known to police been inside a couple of times. Had family that lived in Shorrolds Road , and his surname was Skipper ( nickname of suspect Mr Kipper )He was bought in and questioned

The British police solve crime by simply saying there is not enough evidence to proceed, they have a department whose role is to not investigate crime. They don't turn up at incidents and tell you to simply go home when you call them. Calling 101 the non emergency number subjects you to a series of recordings trying to guilt trip you into making an online report, there is never anyone to take the call for half an hour. I've been on that railway line and used the type of train on which the murder occurred, the carriages are split into compartments each with their own doors on either side. Once you are in a compartment you are trapped there until the train stops at a station. if the compartments either side are empty (off peak commuter train) no one would hear you. I was on a modern corridor train on the same line a few years ago, a bunch of yobs had been harassing a young woman before she got on the train and continued the harassment on the train. I sat opposite her, told her to talk to me as if we were old friends, the yobs left her alone. They are trying to remove conductors from these trains, it's unsafe to travel without conductors.

Lamplight was an estate agent she was showing a house. There is no reason to assume she was alive when her DNA got in the car.

Organised killing or not Jill Dando left her partner's house to go shopping then go back to her old house (where she no longer lived) to change for a TV appearance this was not a normal thing. She was not followed on CCTV when shopping. So the killer would have been waiting for her, but only one person knew she would be going there, her partner. Witnesses hearing a sound/finding the body said there saw no one around, no one was seen running away, well not if the partner (or killer) had a key to the house to escape through the house, out to the garden and over the back wall into the next street.

I'm pretty sure (while on the subject of murderers, etc ) there must be some YT videos about Wakefield Prison. It's probably the closest thing the UK has to a Supermax, and is colloquially known as the 'Monster Mansion', because it houses some of the most dangerous prisoners in the country. It's also where Harold Shipman was when he committed suicide, so he *was* caught. It's about 200 yards (in a straight line) from my studio (where I work), just the other side of a mainline railway station, and just off the city centre...

If I remember correctly they only developed the capacity to use DNA in forensics in the 1990s, so even when poor wee Sion Jenkins was murdered it would still be a fairly new science. I'm glad they mentioned the Alastair Wilson case, where it wasn't conclusive. I'm no expert, just fascinated by unsolved crimes, but it has its flaws as evidence just like anything else. Look at the case of the factory employee who was making swabs, and transferring her DNA on to them. Her DNA was found at scenes of crimes, including murders, in a range of European nations, and for a long time it was thought that there was a female serial killer on the loose. I wonder how many real criminals got away with their crime because of this? The Alastair Wilson shooting was very rare, and if it genuinely was over a planning objection, there would be no reason for Mrs Wilson to think it was unsafe to open the door.

Billy joe Jenkins was Hastings not Hampshire as stated. There is a good documentary out there. But locals believe her foster dad is guilty. There was a lot of whispers about abuse and BillyJoe wanting to take a secret relationship with him,further. Which married up with English soap/drama being screened at the time. Emmerdale farm was showing a story where a child and her teacher ran off together to live their own life. Some locals believe she was about to expose or had exposed to foster mum. Who ran off to Australia while the court case was going on. This theory never got picked up and was never questioned so may be just nothing more than locals looking for answers, but it was a huge coincidence at the time.

Re trains... this was the case that resulted in the rape carriages finally bring withdrawn. Each carriage was divided into two closed compartments and you move between compartments or even see inside of another.

David Oluwale.... 2 police officers murdered and floated him my city. He still is fondly remembered here. Unfortunately upon the placing of his Blue Plaque this year, it was stolen in an insidious and devicive,political attack. Although his killers got a tap on the wrist... his murder changed nothing. Jill Dando was shot on the doorstep of her home. Didn't realise the news reporter said she'd been stabbed... Also, why is a picture of Harold Shipman shown to advertise this video? He was caught (eventually), was given several life sentences and sent to jail but he took his own life not long afterwards. I suppose though there are a lot of his victims that he hasn't been convicted for so remain unresolved cases...so sad.

There’s a very good podcast about the Daniel Morgan murder and there was so much corruption involved in his death and the subsequent investigation. I really feel for his family.

He was in prison for 5 years before his conviction was quashed. There is an alternative suspect who was seen in the local area at the time, but was never identified.

There are lots of stories, most only get a small mention in a local paper, I remember a taxi driver didn't want a drunk man in his taxi, he dragged him out, he hit his head on the kerb and was knocked out, the taxi driver then drove over him, this was in front of a line of witnesses, sadly the guy died and by the time the police found out who the driver was he had already left the country, the Indian community had rallied around him and sent him back to India where he was safe
