He definitely hasn’t gone to Sevens for a rest! It’s by far the toughest form of football in terms of physical fitness. He’s planning to compete in the Paris Olympics later this year, so he’s playing in some events of the Sevens World Series to prepare. Yesterday in LA, France won their first World Series gold since 2005, in only Dupont’s second tournament playing sevens. In my opinion he’s easily the best rugby player alive, and already an all time great. I’m English, but I love to watch France play when he’s on the pitch. If GB don’t win the Olympic gold then I hope France does.

Dupont plays with some of the greatest supporting teams you can get ,yes he is very good but there are better players if you are looking at stats over a span of a season,he makes good plays but if you watch his games youll see its one good moment then he evens out.Faf de klerk has declined recently due to age but he has almost double stats.Faf de klerk plays for South Africa and there is a debate between the two.Credit to dupont but acknowledge that with a good team anyone can look good

are you saying south africa doesn't have a good supporting team ? look at france playing with and without dupont the difference is huge. The thing with dupont is he's so extraordinary when he does very good plays people overlook it because they got use to insanely good plays. He almost always pick the right play there is no mistake in his judgement call, it's like watching a supercompter play chess.@@tristantgm

The theory is that he went to 7s for a challenge to digest the WorldCup results. He's the golden standard of a man with skills and values. He's of farmer background, which can be overlooked in France And he's got typical southern accent. 😊

@@tristantgmStats are not everything. Dupont is an all around player. His kicks in play are better than anyone's. He showed his strength with the tackle at one meter from the line. In the sevens he showed his speed.

Even as an Englishman Dupont id the best player I've ever seen. Although I'm not old enough to have seen many legends in their prime he is the best I've witnessed unbelievable at every aspect of the game, and I've been lucky enough to see him live 3 times he's great. I was even their for his pass against wales best pass ive ever seen live the TV doesnt doe it justice.

Pound for pound Antoine is the real deal. The blue and white stripes are the colours of the Racing Club De France (Paris suburbs omlnisport club) since 1885. The rugby team (nowadays known under the name Racing 92) has been founded in 1890. The Argentinian national rugby team (known as the Pumas) has been founded in 1910.

A grubber is a low trajectory kick where you hold the ball upright and strike the top half of the ball. This causes it to spin end over end and it will often kick up significantly higher after a few bounces.

I appreciate how quickly you got to master this complex sport intricacies and are able to read the game plays perfectly. Antoine is a complete package and as you said his rugby IQ is insane, before he touches the ball he has scanned his teammates and the opponents positions perfectly, so he knows what to do immediately. Antoine Dupont and Cheslin Kolbe had been teammates and partners of crimes in Toulouse during several years.

In XVs, he is considered the most talented player in the world currently, even after the quarter-final loss in the World Cup, (but he was recovering from a fractured maxillar bone), yet in XVs the positions are highly specialized, so he'd be nothing as a pack player, for instance. He has the position that gets to handle the ball the most, scrum-half, which makes him highly visible, and his talent too. I was very dubious at first about his 7s adventure, esp. since the XV French team needs him badly (many key players have been lost to injury and we're absolutely lousy at the moment), and I thought the French 7s team to be too mediocre to redeem, but when you know your rugby, his class shows everywhere, even in 7s...The way he eludes his opponents, fends them, accelerates, passes perfectly and at exactly the right moment, yes, he exudes class.

You're very accurate and entertaining. Your passion is infectious and your NFL background actually enhances and enriches your commentary ; I don't know much about NFL, but I bet I'd find it really interesting commented by you! Growing up I always liked Christophe Dominici (an another french player, winger). Couldnt help thinking of him the first time I saw Dupont : short stature, low center of gravity, pugnacious, capable of insane accelerations and evading defence. There ends the comparison though. Dupont is much more versatile, insanely good in so many fields and an entire league of his own regarding strategy

4:15 a grubber is when you kick it on the end closest to you so it bounces up. Grubbers can either be used to bounce horribly for the full back (number 15) to deal with or a pass that can go forwards and be gathered by yourself or a teammate as long as they are behind you when you kick it.

At 11:02, I think they were complaining because of an obstruction or “crossing” as one of the players ran a dummy line which prevented the defender from tackling, not that they could tackle king dupont though 🤣

You should react to Stade Toulousain, Dupont's team. Its the greatest team ever in Rugby, they won 22 times the French championship (Who is hardest in Europe and maybe in the world) and 5 times the European Cup. Their type of plays are beautiful. You will love that.

The URC (Rugby Union competition involving clubs from Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Italy and South Africa) have uploaded a highlights reel of Kurt-Lee Arendse of the Vodacom Bulls and the Springboks. He plays wing or fullback for both club and country. He is a very fast and dangerous runner (similar to Cheslin Kolbe). I think you have seen him in some of the Springboks highlights. Excellent reaction, you just missed one little thing : the 50-22 around 8'00 was made with his left foot !! actually can play both with almost the same accuracy. I think it's unique at this level.

@QSNgg 😀😀 my pleasure. And yes, it's crazy. He switched to 7 to play the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. They already made 3 tournaments (Canada, USa, and I don't remember about the last one), you can find a lot of highlights on KZfaq. I was thinking: unfortunately Ntamack is still injured. Because if Dupont is a fantastic player, both together, whatever it's with Toulouse (to loose 😉) or the French team, they are the best pair 9-10. And with the rugby 7 French team, they could destroy every teams (and it's also why we lost vs South Africa at the world cup)
