They are originally the football (soccer) team supporters, mainly Ultras groups, you occasionally see them in important games like finals or against rival clubs.. unlike the US, athletic clubs or sports teams have diffrent branches like football, basketball, handball, volleyball...under the same team symbol and jersey colors..

I get the feeling that there is a different way of looking at entertainment in the US and Europe. In the US, people go someplace to get entertained, in Europe, we go to have fun or have a great time. We don't expect everything to be served on a silver platter, we want to shape our own fun. This comes not only from live sports or that type of entertainment but pretty much all kinds. When it comes to music, in the US, so much is based on the charts, or what is advertised, in Europe, we go after what the word on the street says, what our friends like. If you do something good, people will notice it and it will grow big, we don't need to spend big money on advertisement if the product is good in the first place. Comedy on TV? In the US, everyone needs canned laughter so they know when it's supposed to be funny, in Europe, we don't need to get railroaded to the jokes, if they are funny, we will notice them.

I live in Europe and I've been to these type of games. It's crazy. Your legs go numb. There are organized fans. They write and make up their chants. Usually in vulgar language. It's not like this in every game...just the rivalries. You see it's not about the sport...the fans are fanatics about their clubs. And clubs usually have all sports. So the same fans attend the soccer games, the basketball games, volleyball games, even water polo. In these type of games there are no kids, moms or families attending. No opposing fans....or else there would be riots.

Very passionate European Basketballfans + different alphabet is Either Greece has a different alphabet which is basically over 2900 years old = "24 ancient Greek letters" = "Alpha", "Beta", "Gamma", "Delta" and so on and the 24th last one is "Omega"..so most of those greek letter´s names are for the most part at least actually "familiar" by name Or Serbia also has different alphabet letters = "Cyrillic Alphabet" which is the same Alphabet as like Russia has which was developed by the Eastern Orthodox Church, in particular invented by an Eastern Church theologist/missionary named "Cyril" who was a bit inspired by the ancient Greek Alphabet round about 1100 years ago...so therefore those 2 different alphabets are looking a bit similar at least on the surface for those who aren´t familiar with them.

How often is it that we see the action provided in the stands by the fans can be & often is better than that being played out on the court or field??? When you go to pretty much anywhere in Europe or South America, the fans take their fanaticism to the next level & REALLY put on a show 🤙😁

Many of the basketball teams are affiliated with the local soccer club and many fans go to both games. So the supporters and their rivalries carry over. Also, you need to sort out the sound from the playback video, its very distorted, not just this vid but I've noticed it on others.

Difference between america in europe is that america runs down racial lines while europe is far more parochial. Europe is much more who you are and where do you come from. Video is also misleading, a lot of the european fans are football fans who were banned from the stadium and so decided to annoy their basketball team until they were reinstated.

Basketball is played through out Europe, but its not in every country that much exciting nor popular like in the video shown . Thats only in certain countries ... BUT WHEN, then they celebrate it in the same way they celebrate Football, then the Neanderthals come out.

Flares (which is the fire you see) is not hard to control. We use them in New York on the streets before football (soccer games). It does have a fire burning but it stays to the stick.

Even the atmosphere and turn out for the Ladies games in Europe are the same, The little WNBA i've watched (I live in New Zealand) were boring, with ilttle attendance. The WNBA woman dominate there in Europe, Huse fanbase, electric crowds, get Bank during their off WNBA season schedule there, get recognized most places they go.

European teams in all spots is based in cities. It isn't like in the USA where it is franchises. It is also why fans react very strongly to stuff like the "European super league" were suggested (Soccer). Specially the teams who had american owners got alot of hate for the try. It was seen as another american attempt to force the US model down the throat of european fans... They showed such a lack of understandment of the soccer culture. Trying to break almost 150 years of history and rivalries for simple money. Sports teams are many places in Europe and South America kind of a religion. It is about passion and history. A thing alot of americans simply don't understand when it comes to sport ( to be fair college sports has some of the passion).
