Offside is a rule in football where you can't have one of your players closer to the goalside than any of the defending players when the ball is passed, so it's a reference to that, basically saying his nose is so big that it's closer to goalside than the opposing players even if he's only at the halfway line or whatever

I think a key difference there you mentioned is that with NFL, the team is a franchise, so it's happened where the team is moved to the other side of the country or a new one can spring up from nowhere, where as your College teams, like our Football clubs, don't move. You're often born into supporting your local team/club and even if you yourself move to another town/city, you are still all about that team you grew up with.

I listened to a program on BBC radio 4 on football chant's. Yes there is a professor of football chant's. Some chant's go back to before the first world war. One chant was based on the chime's of the clock in the Portsmouth football ground when the royal navy gun batteries (port and Starboard batteries) played each other, and the crowd wanted extra time. Wasn't there one where Scotland were playing the Netherlands and the fans excelled themselves by doing "Hocus Pocus" by Focus? And the Dutch guys sang back "Walk Out To Winter?" Edit - there was also a friendly where an English club - forget who - were playing Beitar Jerusalem, and sang "It's Getting Better (Beitar) All The Time". The Beitar fans - who are real tough nuts - thought it was hilarious!

So interesting to hear about your own experience with sports Beard. Football here is both territorial and not at the same time. The big clubs get lots of supporters from all over the world, but the vast majority of clubs draw their support from the local area and have done for 100yrs or more in many cases. Lots of people support a smaller club in their area and also the big team that they are local to. I work with disabled adults so i get a lot of opportunity to attend cricket, rugby and football in my local area even though they arn't particularly sports I'm interested in. They get free tickets and often really good support from the sporting organisation themselves. One of them (im not going to say which sport so as not to cast aspersions) gives my clients prime box seats with a private room pregame and at half time with food and drink and the kind of service you would expect as a VIP. Favourite chant is "marching on together" might give you a clue as to who my local team is :D Keep up the great work mate.

Fans get banned if they are violent in, on or around the football stadium. Some people really don’t care about the games, but only come to fight physically with fans of the opposing team. They can get banned for up to four years. There are cameras all over the stadiums and watchers keeping track of people entering. If a fan, who has been banned, shows up they are arrested on the spot by police. Hooliganism is viewed very seriously in Great Britain. Denmark has been studying how Great Britain handles hooligans as we have some problems in that field as well.

2 of these chants are about the manchester city vs manchester United derby. First one is the "city is yours, 20 thousand empty seats" is a joke us united supporters make about the fact that the Etihad(their stadium) is very often not sold out. The second one is about city being banned from champions league play for 2 years for breaking financial fair play rules.

it is commonly known that the big ASDA supermarket opposite the Etihad stadium has more people through its doors on a City home match day.

@@jeanlongsden1696 Yet it's also on record that United only manage 95% capacity to City's 98% and that the police records show United Liverpool and Arsenal lying about their attendances by counting commercial tickets sold that nobody turned up for with some matches having a discrepancy of 15 to 25k.

'Us United Supporters' First one is being sung by the City Fans in the Away end During the 1-6 in 2012 in response to the fastest fire drill by the United Plastics, 50-60 Thousand empty seats by the sixth goal. The Second one was about the FFP stich up that was overturned the minute a real court looked at it. The fact you got both wrong proves that you're a United 'Fan' better than you could have thought possible especially funny that you've proven the old adage about never having been to the ground when you can't tell where the away end is with actual video evidence....
@Robedon

@@jeanlongsden1696 As little as ASDA has to do with Attendances. saying a Supermarket with a cheap sandwich food to go corner, cheap cafe and Mcdonalds on site within three minutes walk of a football stadium that will be as expensive as any other football stadium will have more foot traffic is the definition of obvious. The usual 20-40 thousand people doing their weekly shop in a 24hr period plus 50k fans in the area. Hardly Rocket Science to figure out. The Difference is that the Facts show that the City and Away fans fill the Etihad after they've been in ASDA while an extra 3% prefer the prostitutes around the back of the swamp apparently.

2:14: Might be that it's a recurring chant, could be that there was more than one person filming and uploading a video of the game 😋 I think it's another angle of the same game, sounds familiar to the other clip and the movement of the players seems to be the same.

In the 80s and 90s football hooliganism was a massive problem. These chants stem from that era when they spilled into full fights after games with stabbings ect the park park chant. Is a reference to a player called ji sung park who is Korean hence the dog eating reference

In the Netherlands we have Ajax, also known as the JEWS (it was a Jewish-founded team from Amsterdam). Now in the war, the Nazis stole Dutch bicycles to make bullets out of them. One time Ajax were playing a German team for a European cup. In the Ajax crowd, a huge banner was shown that said "GRANDMA, I FOUND YOUR BIKE!!" I pissed myself laughing lol
