Likely she’s not even been to a UK department store. Virtually anything you want but possibly spread over 2, 3 or more floors. Our town had one 50 odd years ago. It’s now long gone and you have to visit 2 or 3 shops, hoping they have what you want in stock, or order it on-line.

In fairness to her if you haven't been in one of the big Walmarts you can't understand the difference. Sizewise they are ginormous and choicewise they are mind blowing. I'm British, Married, kids the lot. I've been in some of the biggest supermarkets here in the UK they just don't compare. Not saying Walmarts is better but definitely bigger. I got lost in one, turned a corner and found myself in an armoury, everything from hand guns to machine guns. Mind blowing. I was only looking for baby food.

If you think a normal trolley is bad, try using ones as a wheelchair user. They do not go around corners or reverse.

Your timescale of Walmart ownership of ASDA is incorrect. I worked at ASDA for 7 years, from 2010, all the while was Walmart owned. Walmart bought ASDA in 1999 sold in 2021. Did this girl only live in a 10 person town or something? All the stores in the UK are the same, just these stores are much bigger hence more products.

@@WelshEnZoI can second that comment. I was working at ASDA House in Leeds, when they announced the 'merger' with Walmart. The rumours about at the time were that ASDA were to be sold to the Kingfisher Group, (at that time: Woolworths/B&Q/Comet/Superdrug.) There had been earlier reports that both Kingfisher and Sainsbury, had offered merger proposals, so when Sainsbury fell by the wayside leaving only Kingfisher with a declared interest, so it came as quite a surprise to middle management and workers alike when Walmart bought ASDA outrght. The inside opinion was that Walmart's interest in ASDA had more to do with them automatically acquiring the 'George' clothing brand, than anything else.

It's not even that they are much bigger to be fair. I was quite surprised how small the Walmarts I went in to in the US were compared to any of the large Asda's I've been to. Even the Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons I find to be very large, quite often bigger than a lot of American supermarkets. I don't doubt that America has some huge places, but the Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons in my average small town were all either about the same size or bigger than any of the stateside supermarkets I visited. The one in this video looked smaller than either of the Asda's that I frequent. And I was out there inthe US for two years travelling a lot. Saying all that, the Tesco in my town was at one point the biggest in the UK when it was built just over 20 years ago, and it's one of the ones they filmed some of their ads at. So it might not be a fair comparison. Seeing a car park covered in "snow" in the middle of summer was a weird experience. The girl in this video must have been very sheltered, bless her. How she could have gotten to the age she is now without seeing potato salad and stuff like that in a supermarket It boggles the mind. Especially since we basically had a version of Walmart, as they owned Asda for around 20 years. And although they didn't sell guns and tyres, they pretty much had everything you could want. That was all pre-covid. Now you are lucky if anywhere has more than one brand or type of any one item - and that's if they even have that! ​@@WelshEnZo

Asda sells Guns? Has a whole department of decorating items? Tyres for cars? McDonalds/KFC/Starbucks all under one roof? NO.... If you don't drive, you need to walk about 5 miles around one of our huge shopping places like Fort Kinnaird in Scotland. You need GPS to find the damn shops you need.. Walmart literally has it all under one roof.. We used to have our own kind of Walmart. It was the good old Co-operative stores. Nowadays you're lucky if you can find a co-op convenience shop

I just go to Aldi. Simple. Every time a new store opens (no matter what it is) and says they’re cheap, it’s always wrong. There are cheap places here.

@@lynette50we lived in Dalkeith and often shopped in Fort Kinnaird. We remember before they built it! The shops often changed companies but we never had a problem finding them as we visited monthly.. we knew it well. The last time we visited was around 3 years ago and there were a few signs, but they could do with bigger, clearer ones I agree! As for supermarkets having the likes of McDonald’s or Starbucks etc, personally we prefer to eat from different places that are smaller companies b- that don’t charge a fortune for a coffee or a pretty mediocre burger! Gradually we are actually getting fewer and fewer different shops, they are ubiquitous and often not the best. It’s much harder to find a bakery that makes beautiful, flavourful cakes and bread now that Greggs have taken over Scotland! 😢

I thought Taki's were Irish? I'm down in Yorkshire, i see them occassionally but i think they get drowned out by cheaper brands so don't make it onto a lot of shelves

No offence but Brexit and by extension Reform UK are the ones bringing us closer to having US style supermarkets and labour laws. In fact the whole supply chain will be deregulated if they had their way.

We used to have them, before a mass shooting in the 70’s and a solicitor was like “hell no, never again”. After years of work he managed to get them gone here. No more mass shootings. Although some people do have guns here.

Nothing she bought is taxed in the US, only ready to eat meals are taxed .

Walmart also tried in Germany I think it was, the main problem was Walmart being an American company. They didn't really know how the UK and German supermarkets/ customers really worked compared to the American domestic market for retail. The American customer service/ retail specific model doesn't really translate over to other countries all to well.

None of the things she bought are taxed in the US, only pre made meals are taxed in the US.
