Actually, that purchase was probably not real, as un-supervised possession of a gun is not legal for 13 year olds in any state even if it was a private sell. So either they filmed the seller actively committing a crime, or the mother was there as a guardian enabling the 13 year old, or (most likely) it was faked.

My theory is that being able to comfortably live your life without any worry about making your payments gets you 90% towards bliss and that A7 just gives you an extra 5%. The secret to a happy society is a strong middle class that is accessible to join for the lower classes due to free healthcare and education.

@@user-kq5ke5yb6k Definitely not. The USA has relied on europe more than the other way around of late. The US didn't ever involve itself into any wars until it got attacked itself, then claims all the glory despite joining at the last minute. To my knowledge the US hasn't actually ever won a single proper war by itself, despite claiming to be the "greatest" and the "best". More recently than WW2, they've a bad habit of shooting their allies. In 2003??? I think... a british convoy was shot at by an A10 warthog. The American pilot, Gus Kohntopp from the Idaho National Air Guard saw some troops on the ground - rather than waiting for permission to engage, or asking for a marker round, he decided to open fire, despite on the video it quite clearly being very obvious he is not even SURE that they are enemy. He fired at them. He went around for another pass, and opened fire again, this time killing a British soldier and severely injuring another soldier who tried to save his now dead colleague. A prime example of American incompetence... shooting TWICE at someone you aren't even sure is the enemy. What happened? Nothing. He was never court martialled, never tried for any criminal charges.. the US did what it always does... swept it under the carpet and acted like nothing had happened. You guys value other people's lives so little and it shows. The USA demand the UK extradite Julian Assange, despite the fact they legally couldn't as he was in the Ecuadorian embassy. Yet the USA REFUSED to extradite Anne Sacoolas when she KILLED a british citizen due to her own incompetence.... and instead tried to pay the family off.... now there's an american answer to any problem "throw money at it". And then you wonder why europe and much of the world has such distain for the USA. If the USA was wiped off the face of the earth tomorrow I wouldn't give two hoots, as a nation you aren't anywhere near as "liked" or "appreciated" by most of the world, as a lot of the US citizens think.

Americans have this rather odd view, that "We are liked by everyone, everyone loves the USA, they gleefully go around thinking "Everybody loves us, we are amazing". If they knew the truth that actually the US is probably the most hated nation on the planet overall, they'd be less chuffed. Many europeans have a lot of distain for the USA, especially when it comes to just how little regard they place on human life. Healthcare being one of those points and the willingness to try to justify shooting each other dead on a whim is the other point.

Every single time there's comments such as 'America is number one', when they clearly not and a lot of comments disputing the list or asking why they aren't on it. The subject of the list doesn't matter, as long as it's something positive. They get shocked and offended if they don't see themselves there or at a very low position. For example, my British Father-in-Law, in Britain died of cancer due to the waiting list. Despite having a diagnosis, by the time he could be seen by an oncologist, his pathology had developed beyond cure and spread to the bones and the liver. My husband and I moved them to Italy and the medical staff confirmed that there was nothing to do. The only comfort was that he was immediately put under "pain control therapy". we didn't have to pay anything and luckily most of the staff spoke at least a form of English otherwise I translated for him. In the end, he was under very heavy sedation and passed away painlessly. My husband was allowed to stay with him 24/7 and given a sort of foldable bed (uncomfortable but better than nothing).

I'm sorry to hear that your father-in-law wasn't able to receive the treatment he needed in time. I'm sure that we agree that the health services we have should be improved and I'm sure if your family had been able to pay for a quicker operation at a private clinic then they would have. But if you don't have the money to pay private in the UK/Italy, how do you pay for the operation in the US? At least the diagnosis and treatment he did receive was relatively free and not too much of a financial burden on your family. How much would that diagnosis, pain control therapy, and hospital care have cost in the US? Many people in the US don't get operations/treatments to improve their health (or even visit the doctor/hospital), because the bill, or insurance plan "deductible" is too expensive for them. Women who have just given birth in US hospitals are even charged for holding their new baby !!! My mum recently died from cancer in Scotland. Fortunately for us, although the bowel cancer eventually became inoperable, she did receive free treatment on the NHS that prolonged her life considerably. Nearer the end, a free daily home-help service was allocated to allow her to stay in her house. When that was no longer tenable, she was looked after by a free hospice service until she passed away. I don't come from a wealthy family and I'm very grateful to the Scottish health service for the care and quality of life my mother had in her old age, without our family's finances being crippled and burdened with debt, as they probably would have been under the US system for the same level of care. Sorry for the rant :) Love, peace, power and happiness to you !

@@moondaughter1004 I personally think our healthcare system is flawed. It costs too much especially compared to the rest of the world. People should not be concerned about the price to save their lives as I knew someone who passed away with over $500,000 in medical bills that the family is now responsible for paying. My sister who is a medical doctor in Boston has 4 luxury homes, 2 in America, 1 in Australia and another in France. Most of her income comes from contracts from the pharmaceutical companies believe it or not. Idk, after seeing and knowing the inner workings of healthcare, it kind of sickens me that the U.S. seems to less of medical care and more of a business. I can give you plenty of examples about how corrupt it is. I currently am dating a Persian woman who has a bachelors in medical billing. She stopped working in the field as the drs told her to she was to bill tests to patients who didn't need the tests. That the dr said "bill them! I want to drain as much money as I can from these people!" She literally quit her profession because it didn't aline with her morals. My ex wife was a RN and BSN. Same deal. She still works in the field as she makes $300,000+ a year with her overtime. She would tell me how the medical facility would tell to purposely open supplies and throw them away so they could bill the patients for it. Things like 1 ibuprofen costs patients $20-$50 for one pill. Bandages, syringes, suture kits all the same thing. I remember her telling me about how a dr came in to give stitches and he opened 5 different gauges acting like they weren't going to work and ended up charging the patient $60 a piece for them. My mother quit psychiatry too because she also felt that she wasn't helping people anymore.

That first issue must cause SO MUCH stress to EVERY compassionate healthcare professional - never mind the suffering caused to the primary victim - the patient. I am now retired, but I simply cannot, and don't wish to, even _imagine_ what that would feel like, but colleagues who have worked in the US have attempted to describe to me the feelings of helplessness and anger when _routine_ treatment was denied, or refused, or not complied with, _purely_ on the grounds of cost. Many had chosen to break their contracts, or simp,y not renew them, and return home, or to a country with more humane policies, despite the pay being less. I suppose for American nationals working in healthcare, it's merely yet another stressor which is accepted as part of the job ...

Another problem is that you maybe have an acute not life endangering problem, but the doctor can't treat you until there is an okay from the insurance and if there is a cheaper but worse alternative they often will only accept that solution. To exaggerate a bit - doctor say you need an artificial leg to walk and being able to work and insurance says we only pay for a wheel chair and your co-pay is 2/3 of the price for the wheel chair, while your insurance fee every month is double the cost of the wheel chair.
@Sine-gl9ly7 күн бұрын
@@seanthiar That is way too complex for me to work out, as I don't understand the concept of these 'co-pays' and having to pay more than the insurance premium is, for a substandard treatment decided on by some random _office_ worker...

@@Youbetternowatchthis Unfortunately there is no data that supports that statement. The medical system is not bad if you've got the money to pay for it, but there is no prove whatsoever that it's the best, and most certainly not by far.

Hypothetically, A thirteen year old buys a rifle, with no checks, walks to the nearest school and ... If that scenario were to happen, what would happen to the seller? He'd probably say, 'Ah, that's just business' and have no qualms about his part in the hypothetical massacre!

Thank you Ryan for reminding me that I have to pay my medical bill tomorrow. While Finland has awesome healthcare, it's not _entirely_ free. I received a bill of 23€ ($24.59) for three visits in fast order during the same afternoon: first evaluation, nurse evaluation and then a doctor coming to examine me.

I'm in the public medical system in Australia with Respiratory and Hypertension issues....I have to head to the hospital for a free blood test and ECG this week, then next week on Friday I have to do a free Bronchoscopy, that's under a general anesthetic, 6:45am I have to be there and will be released around 2pm, they asked who was taking me home and looking after me for 24 hours, duty of care and all, and I said no one, I don't have anyone. The girls voice changed and sounded upset booking the appointment, so I'm staying a night in hospital because they won't let me leave. Cost $0 (well my tax dollars contribute).

If you were to walk around in the UK asking people if a 13 year old should be able to buy a gun, people literally wouldn't believe that you were asking them a serious question. To us, the very idea of a CHILD owning a gun is complete and utter lunacy.

The problem with these lists, whether it's about happiness, safety, freedom of press or whatever, is that the first 30 and the last 30 are very, very close to each other. Actually, it's almost a divide into two categories. So, whether a country is no. 1 or 10, doesn't make much difference. But somewhere down the line, there is a sharp decline. That's not always at the same position, of course. But around this position, 1 rank up or down can make a big difference.

In the US in North Dakota, where I live, via a Google search you can get your drivers permit at 14 and your drivers license at 16. I was 17/18 in 2006 when I got my drivers permit and drivers license. I don’t remember what I had to do the get my drivers permit. To get drivers license I took a computer test and drivers test at the Department of Motor Vehicles. It costs $10.00 to renew my drivers license.
