Nice Video. As far as I know the Döner we know in germany evolved in germany from a turkish dish. The "legend" is that an immigrant from turkey that moved to Berlin found it difficult to sell this trditional dish to german customers since they didn't want to take the time to sit down and eat their meat and salad with turkish bread on the side. So he created a bread that he filled with the meat, salad and sauces to eat on the go.

And I'd transfer earth floor rather to ground floor ☺️ But let's have a word about Döner 😉 it's an 100% Turkish dish, but was sort of reinvented in Germany (the original is served in a different way instead of stuffing it into a bun). You should look it up, it's an interesting story.

Döner is from Turkey. As we have a lot of German-Turkish people in our country they brought the Döner fast food shops in.

Köln/Cologne/Keulen is a city of border culture. Joppie sauce is Dutch. The cone for fries is Belgian. The language Kölsch has a Dutch slang, it's 'dutchified' German or 'belgian' German, for the Belgians speak Wallonish which is Belgian French, and they also speak Flemish which is Belgian Dutch.

If you are caught without a ticket at public transport, in some cities you have to pay not only 40 Euros, but 60 Euros as a fine. As for staying at home after giving birth, it's 3 years you get payed as a mom or dad when you stay at home with your kid. If you want to work, on the other hand, the state will pay part or whole of the costs for a day care/nursery.

Thanks for the very good (and positive) description. Your German pronounciation is excellent! Wiener Schnitzel is made from Veal, which is breaded. You have versions, which are made from pork (Wiener Art - Vienna Style) and Geflügleschnitzel. The latter is essentially a large Chicken nugget :-). In Cologne Carnival is called „Karneval“ or in local idiom „Fasteloovend“. In Southern Germany (Bavaria and Baden Würtenberg) it is called Fasching. It is more like Mardi gras than Halloween. I came back from the US via Frankfurt on carnival Thursday and knew what was expecting us. When the doors of the ICE opened to a crowded platform in Cologne Central Station with everybody in a crazy mood and heavily costumed the faces of the other business travelers were a show, indeed. Also knowing that there ties were all to be cut of by women in the cause of the next 200m :-) also great Carnival music, look up Querbeat, Kasalla, Brings, ...

Unser gute Mensch, one thing I might add, if you didn't, is that Köln is in a part of Germany that is traditionally Catholic. That's why they celebrate Fasching, which corresponds to the beginning of Lent, a primarily Catholic observance. The Rheinland is known to be Catholic. Except for Bavaria, the rest of Germany is Protestant, generally speaking.

Wiener Schnitzel is pounded down, is made of young beef (calf) and not served with mushroom sauce. The Pork or chicken Schnitzel are Schnitzel of „Wiener kind“, just a cheap bad copy. „Jut jemacht“ will be said in Berlin too. XD

the fries that way are actually a dutch idea and hasnt been offered that way forever. its more common to have fries with either Schnitzel, curry sausage or curry meatloaf for a German. Typical dutch is to have the big cone of fries with mayonaise and diced onions in it. hm Döner is.. in its essence not German. A Turkish person in Germany chose to put it into the bun though. So its like putting a sausage into a bun to eat it more easy xD That's the deal

Wienerschnitzel is calf-meat. When they sell pork or chicken (never seen chicken sold as Wienerschnitzel) then you have to name it "Schnitzer wiener Art". Which means "Schnitzel inspired by Wienerschnitzel" .. of course a lot of restaurants try to trick you. Some might doesn't know it better.

Your german is quite good compared to the german i heard from the other Ytubers that go about germany. You also managed kölsch dialect, which is kinda hard for germans even. Regarding this, you have to consider that this part of germany was occupied by the french (napoleonic era), so many western dialects have a french pronounciation of sorts. You'll find that all along the rhine, generally speaking.

It´s mostly not 40, its 60€ for not having a ticket and this only for the first two times. After the third time you usually have to face a criminal investigation for public transporation fraud. You can finaly end up in prison for this, but usually u have to pay a larger fine were the amont is calculated by your income.
