Burger was translated to citizien, because the german word "Bürger" means citizen.

Yes and on top it should have been translated to sandwich, because Germans call the whole thing Burger, while Americans call only the patty a burger and the whole thing a sandwich.

@@hinekde Actually, we call the whole thing a burger, too - but only if it has a beef patty. If you take a burger and change absolutely nothing except you use chicken instead of beef, then most people will call it a chicken sandwich and so on. Of course, it is not incorrect to call any burger a sandwich.

@@hinekdeI don’t think that’s true. Maybe in some parts of the US. But definitely not in California and also Ryan himself is constantly calling it a burger referring to the whole thing and not only the patty so I think also Indiana and probably all of the Midwest doesn’t do that.

Actually that’s only part of the reason. There are so many McD‘s in the US that in order to change the menu, it would be really difficult to find a supplier for the new ingredients. I think there is an example using blueberries (I think for a new McFlurry sauce) but the issue is that in order to supply the whole of the US, they‘d need nearly the world‘s entire supply of blueberries. So the quantities needed to supply the US McD‘s is simply too large to add any new item are insanely difficult to get.

While McDonalds is still not healthy in Germany, the quality and quality control of the ingredients is much higher and many additives and preservatives are not allowed overhere. The only bottleneck to really good quality are the restaurants themselves. Unskilled and unmotivated workers and greedy franchise companies that do not keep to corporate standards are the main problem. The ingredients are actually of very high quality when they arrive at the restaurant.

In the Caesar Salad does not contain McNuggets. I would assume it is a cut up McCrispy patty. Not that it matters much, but it is at least a bit better than straight McNuggets. And that info about the play grounds is wrong. Our local McD has a large outdoor play ground, and (aside from those in inner cities) most of the rural ones I´ve seen have them too.

The playgrounds at McDonalds & Co. were comparatively little used in Germany. The McDonald's in the town where I live has a large, fenced-in playground for dogs. Since the video is a bit older, what is still missing is that we have had the so-called Mc Delivery for some time now. I order my food online and an employee delivers it to my door like a pizza. However, I don't know anyone who has done it yet

There are McDonald's playgrounds in Germany but they are basically garbage compared to normal Playgrounds. I still remember the spiral slide that would basically give you electoshocks every time you rode it. On newer public playgrounds they use less plastic and more wood and steel which is way better in my opinion. For example a slide made from stainless steel wont give you those electroshocks.

McDonalds is not really considered to be a "restaurant" in Europe/UK. Some outlets may have a few tables but that is basically to accommodate people waiting for their orders to be filled. It is considered to be more of a "take out" place, like KFC. A restaurant in Europe/UK is normally more for seated dining, with servers taking orders and bringing food to you at table. At McDonalds and KFC the "play area" for kids is not a focal point as kids are only there for a few minutes.

We used to have those slides and jungle gyms too but they aren't too common anymore. There's usually only a small playground as they need the extra space for mc café. Also, kids here also celebrate their bday at McDonald's but not like it is in the US where that is the party. It's more a convenient stop for food on the way back from whatever activity you had with the kids. My kids had a day in the zoo or a day at the swimming pool or so and once that was over, we got everyone a kiddy box for dinner. But usually there's one or two kids who doesn't like fries and burgers, so making food at home is the safer option.

The reason why you have playgrounds at McD in the USA is because many people live in areas where there are no playgrounds. So parents bring their children in so they can play, also, they sell things, good business. I once watched a program on KZfaq where they talked about how McD's was strategically positioned best and the play area was better, in the more busy areas.

0:39 Almost nailed it on your first try. I'd spell it Mäcces though which is colloquial for "The Golden Gull Restaurant" aka McDonalds. Just say Mc or Mac with -es appended to it. 1:02 That's actually unusual. Or new. Haven't been to one in years... 1:41 You just exactly described the McFlurry container that I know from Germany as well... that's gotta be a new one then. 3:44 I know those, but IIRC they've only been available occasionally. 4:06 Even those aren't that bad here... they still have a few distinct shapes that are always the same, so it's clearly put together from smaller pieces, but the quality is still rather decent. 5:36 Sounds extreme. 6:33 I'm pretty sure one in my area does have a climbing tower with a slide outside and I remember that the playground initially was larger until they added McCafé to the whole thing, which also has a few seats outside, so they had to shrink the playground. 7:31 He says Cola, which to be fair, typically is Coke at McD. 7:44 Approx. one and a half coke cans. EU cans are 330ml, US ones are 12 fl oz which is 355ml. 8:03 I'm pretty sure I've seen this in Germany already as well, but I think those weren't available for too long, cos noone bought those XD 8:16 I still don't get why those are called McMuffin. Not muffins at all. 8:33 If that were true, greedflation is real! :D 8:48 Pineapple-Mango smoothie 8:59 That's because burger almost sounds like Bürger. 11:26 They're called drive-in here :D 12:13 Have a bigtastic day! :D BTW Curly Fries and Gitterkartoffeln (grid potatoes) are a lot better than the classic french fries. Sometimes they also offer wedges. PS: I wonder why he didn't even mention the "Hüttengaudi" which is an recurring event that's always around late Octover / Növember where you can get the Big Rösti and some grilled cheese sticks and a few other things inspired by traditional cuisine from the Alps region IIRC. People are really keen on those.

German McDonalds does not have any vegan burger, because of the reasons you mentioned. The plant-based patty for the McPlant and the McPlant Nuggets are made in the same devices as meat-products. Also, iirc, the sauce on the McPlant is not vegan. But at least the burger is a nice alternative if you sometimes don't want to eat meat and it tastes surprisingly good. (the McPlant nuggets however taste like the cardboard box they come in) A big difference he failed to talk about are the sauces. I was shocked that you don't have the Curry Sauce in the US. Neither at McDonald's not at KFC. 😄

A huge cultural difference between Germany and the USA is breakfast. It is unimaginable to eat warm food for breakfast in Germany. Scrambled Eggs with Ham, Worst or Pancakes are lunch dishes in Germany. It's like serving an American a T-bone Steak for Breakfast. Normal Breakfast in Germany is Bread or Bread Roll or Croissants or Franzbrötchen (Regional Specialty), in addition Basic Margerine or Butter and ....Marmelade, Ham, Cheese and more but Cold. Okay Toast Roasted and a cooked Egg. Coffee, mineral Water, Orange or Fruit Juice. The day Starts Small and Increases.

Just a little Correction there: They don't use the Chicken Nuggets in the Salad. They use breaded chickenmeat. A litte bit different. First and foremost: Nuggets are mostly getting "thrown" into an hot Oil bath so they look nice and smell good when they get delivered to us.... i somehow have a picture of a chicken hanging out one Wing while Enjoying the Oil Bath... ANYWAYS 😀 The breaded Chickenmeat is something similar to a Chicken Sandwich meat. It is also not hot but cold, Chicken Wings aren't eatable when cold 😀 And they get fried in a pan with a litte bit of oil. 🙂 And it is HELLA delicious. If you are ever somewhere in Germany and you are lusting for a McDonalds: try it. It is delicious. 🙂

The McFlurry was the same here, but due to plastic reduction laws in Europe, they had to change the product into a bigger McSundae with fancy topping. Worked myself at McDonald's here in Germany 10 years ago. We also had the Snack Wrap, which was the smaller version of the McWraps. The Snack Wrap had the US-McChicken-Patty (German McChicken is different burger), while the McWrap has the larger McCrispy-Patty. When I started the McWrap actually had 3 Options. The one with the McCrispy-Patty, one with unbreaded chicken filet and one with a beef-patty that is also used on the quarter-pounder. They got rid of the unbreaded chicken filet, because instead of the breaded Chicken, that gets put into the fryer frozen, the unbreaded chicken needed to be unfrozen before grilled like the beef-pattys. You always had the problem, that you had to trash to much unfrozen meat or you ran out of unfrozen meat. They also tried to make it work with frozen, unbreaded chicken, but it had issues with quality and since it was never a really much asked product, they scrapped it. The original Caesars Salad had also the unbreaded chicken, they changed it to the McChicken-patty. But there isn't really a vegan product on the menu besides french fries. Those plant-based products just don't contain meat, but can get in contact with meat. Thats why they don't claim them as vegan or vegetarian products. And on these entertainment-centers: McDonalds in Germany actually prefers take-away customers and doesn't want in-house customers to stay long. First: Tax on take-away is lower (7% instead of 19%). Second: A take-away customer makes significantly less garbage McDonalds has to deal with, so the more customers decide to take away, the smaller the need of someone cleaning the lobby, so they can cut crew cost.

Don't forget that, at a German McDonald's, you have to purchase and pay for every drink and every sauce/ ketchup/mayonnaise separately as there are no free refills and we care about how much plastic waste we create. That's also the reason why McFlurry and McSundae (Idk if the small ice cream cone is even a thing in the US) come in those cardboard mugs. AFAIK they blend the ice cream before, put it in the mugs and then put sauces and toppings on. Also, there's that big cliché that they'd sell beer at McDonald's in Germany, which they don't and never did. Neither beer nor any other alcoholic drinks.

Therefore only adults can make sense of it. Maybee it´s just accompanying sleeping. We do have Chicken Mc Nuggets, but they are of corse no Salat. We have different kinds of Salat here in Germany at MC. Maybee it´s sells better. And of corse we do have birthday partys and also playgrounds surounding in MC. For the McFlurry we had those cups with the lid as well. They use a different stirring machine now (or if they don't feel like it they Don't stir at all.) The container in the video is the newer packaging, based on a general trend to reduce packaging and use easier to recycle materials, supported by European regulations that prohibit use of unnecessary plastic packaging. No plastic straws as well. That cup also has no longer the same plastic foil lining as the old one. Oh and the signature burger is not as big as it looks. Although, Yeah, you easily get into the 1200 calories region with those. Fun fact about the McRib, at some point they tried to change the recipe and reduce the amount of barbecue sauce to make it less messy... Didn't go well with people so they returned to the old recipe. Oh, and we don't have the vending machines that pour you your favorite soft drink (coke fanta sprite) in all sorts of cringe worthy flavors. Just the straight regular stuff and coke as well in the light and zero variety.
