As an American I have not seen all of the famous Molson Canadian Beer commercials. Today I am very excited to finally see some of the most famous ones including the Rant, the Anthem, and the Beer Fridge. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

The rant came at a time where it felt Canadians were not very patriotic, or felt like we weren’t as a great nation as we actually were. As a kid we all talked about this commercial in school. It wasn’t a beer commercial, it was a Canadian commercial

an english canadian commercial for english canadians specifically. Nothing "patriotic" about what I just watched. It was next level cringe tbh. Also, Molson Canadian is the worst of all the Molson beers.

@@gustru2078 yeah because its an English Canadian commercial? Quebec complaint that they aren't accepted in Canadian society as they make a whole culture around a separatist movement. Most things back then are “cringe” especially beer commercials and Quebec independence.

@@Jeremynicholson @Jeremynicholson lollll No one here "made" a culture around separatism. And "accepted in canadian society"... oh boy, that's rich 🤣 I'll make it real simple for you. Get your own culture and stop stealing from those who actually have one. To me, english Canadians are comparable to parasites. You just apparently aren't aware that most of what you call "canadian culture" has been stolen from the francophones, including the name "Canadian". What's really cringe is that all you got is eh, aboot (oh yes, you say abOOt), "chesterfield" (lol wtf), being retarded english royal family groupies and "I'm NOT american 😭", yet somehow you manage to come up with trash like this ad. Really says everything about english canadian "culture". Also, constantly generalizing by saying "canadians" this "canadians" that for everything is incredibly hypocritical. Of course you're going to get called out on that bullshit.

@gustru2078
@gustru2078 Жыл бұрын
@@theravyshow2570 It's not about the ad being in the english language or not. It's about what's said in that ad that only applies to the english part of Canada as it claims to be speaking for the entirety of Canada. When I say the "english part of Canada", I mean those who consider themselves as subjects of the english crown, those who conquered our ancestors and tried to assimilate them for a couple centuries (and they're still trying today as you can clearly see, all while preaching "inclusion", "diversity" and similar shit like the hypocrites they are). Speaking english doesn't make you "english" but "the english" know exactly who they are and why they're called that, which is btw what they used to be called before stealing the name "Canadian" not even a hundred years ago.

Not a commercial, but a clip from a hockey game from years ago when the microphone of the person singing the national anthems had a malfunction at the start of the American anthem, and the Canadian crowd sang the American anthem as a group. Because most countries don't expect an another countries people to know their anthem, this clip was played on the news all over America.

These commercials are so nostalgic for me! I think nearly every Canadian born in the 90s or earlier will have seen most of these, especially the rant commercial. It’s iconic here. Also, you were talking about hockey in one of your last videos. Many Canadians probably recognize some of the 70s hockey footage from the anthem commercial as the 72 Canada vs Russia series - even those of us who weren’t born until long after it happened. Yes, the things he says are things every Canadian has heard from Americans that are stereotypes but not true. When he says he doesn't know Billy, etc from Canada, it is because when Americans meet us, they might say, "I know someone named David in [Canadian city]. Do you know them?" That city may be miles away from where we live, and they may not even know the person's last name. In my experience, the rant is about comments Americans have made to Canadians. Tyler I came across your video as I was searching for this commercial. Watching your genuine reactions and understanding of what these could have meant to us, was very cool. The sense of pride these commercials gave to many of us is difficult to describe. I’m 40 now and I think they should bring these back to unify us and hopefully galvanize us all to demand better leadership… thank you

Yes those commercials remind us of what it used to be like to be Canadian. Unfortunately not any more. This country is not a good place anymore. I used to be a proud Canadian but I can't say that anymore. I travel and everywhere I go I'm asked the same question, "how did you elect such a #@*!# leader?" Our once great country is never going to be the way it was. 😢

Yay! I knew you would appreciate the rant and the fridge. You reacted the way I thought you would.😊 I've never seen the second commercial, 'I am Canadian'. Its a good one and should be revamped and aired again. And look at you knowing "Canada 150".

The Rant was probably the first time we heard this feeling of National Pride on TV and connected with it across the country, as Canadians! ❤❤❤ EVERY time it came on I wanted to stand up and cheer! And always teared up with a sense of belonging ❤

You have made my day, Tyler. Joe's Rant is always a delight (actor is Jeff Douglas), there is a version done by William Shatner. Have not heard The Anthem in ages. The Canada-Russia hockey series in 1972 was a huge deal for us, the country essentially stopped for each game. The first set was in Canada, the second set was in Russia. Came down to a final goal by Paul Henderson and the country went wild. It began the influx of European players into our game and vice versa. The Beer Fridge Ads were a delight and the one where people have to say "I am Canadian" in several languages to get the fridge to open is a favourite. Your Budweiser ads with the Clydesdales is the closedt you have and those are pretty great, too. As for log burling, that was mostly from log driving in the Eastern forests, a bit different out here in the West

Canada-Russia series. Our school got hold of some big TV sets and set them up in the gym. They didn't even try to have classes when the games were on.

Several references to the 1972 Summit Series you may not recognize. It was a Cold War era 8 game hockey challenge - Canada vs Russia. Technically the USSR. It was 4 games in each country. An epic moment in our history where sport merged with political ideals. It was like Democracy playing against Communism to prove systematic superiority. It was a very heated battle. At one point in Russia soldiers surround the Canadian bench with firearms. The players had to save the event organizer Alan Eagleson from being abducted. In hindsight we should have handed him over. He was the infamous lawyer that as a player agent stole a huge amount of money from the legendary superstar Bobby Orr. After game four in Vancouver, Phil Esposito’s personal rant to the fans was seen as the turning point in the eventual Canadian victory. He basically gave fans shit for booing them. The Russian team was literally a team of Russian soldiers. They were great players and it was 1972, the height of steroid misuse, so they were juiced to the max. They prepared for months for the challenge. The Canadian team on the other hand was led to believe it would be a cake walk and showed up in September out of shape after a summer of drinking beer and fishing. They had to dig deep to pull this one out. To many of us, taking on the USSR one on one was one of our most defining moments as a nation. I was in sixth grade at the time. The Games in Russia were on midday but they were played live in almost every school classroom in the country.

I have two recommendations 😁 'We Are More by Shane Koyczan' during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics opening ceremony Shane Koyczan performed this poem about the Canadian Identity. The second video is called 'In Canada' by Chris Hadfield. Chris Hadfield is a Canadian Astronaut, he made KZfaq videos while he was in space. It's chalk full of references that even I had to google lol perfect for Canada on July 1st

"The Rant" was one of the most often repeated, often imitated, and often quoted ads of all time. Even though it's been a long time since "The Rant" was released, it's still one of the cleverest pieces of writing to hit TV.

Yes Tyler, the commercials are meant to be funny based on truisms.... we can laugh at the stereotypes, we can laugh about how serious we take hockey and we can laugh at the silliness of some of our culture like the beaver.

Look up the Log Drivers' Waltz. It is a classic Canadian folk song I believe from the 70s, written by a couple of classic Canadian icons, Kate & Anna McGarrigle. (One was married to Loudon Wainwright jr. And their son is Rufus Wainwright.) The Log Drivers Waltz was made into a beautiful animated short movie featuring the now-iconic song. Much of Canada as it is today was built on logging.

There will be no widespread popular commercials ever again. Everything's so algorithm driven, and commercials need to be 5-10 seconds long, ontop of them becoming so intrusive that everyone just automatically tunes out whenever they see one.

Thank you Tyler. 🥰 You are my favorite Americain. So funny and iconic. I wish more Americains were like you. 🤩🤩🤩 There is a whole group of these commersials that you missed but these are all very iconic ones. I love the Made in Canada one. Others you have not seen that I also love is Ninja Porcupine, 500 miles, Olympic/ Urban Beer fridge and Just for laughs William Shatner rant. Golden also had a few true commercial jems. I was never a beer drinker but loved these commercials overall for the patriotic feelings evoked. Back when these were being aired, Molson Canadian and Labatt's Blue were the 2 most popular beers by the general masses. Most of these commercials were aired during Hockey Night in Canada, a very popular show with a high beer drinking viewer base. 🥰🇨🇦
